there are clearly webs being shot out at various times in that gif to suspend himself in the air.

come on guys.
I didn't even notice that. I thought they were just using standard video game physics because it looks cool.

Pete shooting lines to keep him airborne while he juggles is a really nice touch.

Insomniac, I may forgive you now if you don't include the aforementioned skyscraper piledriver move since you have all of these little touches.

But I still want the piledriver, even if it's part of a Piledriver DLC package.

Oh my god that combat is amazing. So fluid. And R&C-style gadgets? Thanks for confirming my pre-order

Damn I was not expecting that.

combat looks like a mix of infamous, arkham and devil may cry. I can't approve of this enough.

I honestly never thought I'd be as excited for a spiderman game. Well done insomniac.

Lmao. People stop...you complain about Spidey floating in the air???? without ever questioning how the web swinging in NY is supposed to work the way it is often portrayed... which always gave me the impression that a giant roof-top covers the whole city? Lawd...

This looks really great and hits all the right parts I'm looking for: the ability to quickly swap between using webs, gadets, melee combat on the fly along with a system that leaves room for creativity.

As an Xbox gamer I wish Insomniac would become multi-plat dev. Sunset Overdrive was amazing and this will be as well. Everybody should have the chance to enjoy their games. I am not a fan of the dual shock, to be polite, and it keeps me from by a PS4 everytime.

If the DS4 is the only thing keeping you back, there are a bunch of ways to solve that issue.

Awesome. Loved when he ran away from the fight, turned around and webbed the scaffolding down onto all the enemies. This game is going to be nuts.

Like I said maybe not with spiderman but MS can approach them for just about anything else including a new IP. But that would mean they'd have to be interested in funding games like this and have it be single player only.
You're not wrong but Sunset Overdrive was an Insomniac ass Insomniac game, co-op or no.

... do the enemies ever pose a threat? They look like little more than punching bags for Spidey to style on.

They are a multiplat dev, they just accept a lot of work from Sony. In this instance they're probably signed up for a couple of sequels assuming certain conditions are met. Other publishers they've worked with include Microsoft, EA and GameTrust.

That's literally not true in this case.

Why not? Could MS not acquire the license for a popular superhero or other comic book IP and fund their own exclusive? If Disney have licensed out Spider-Man, The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy does it not seem reasonable that they would consider licensing out Black Panther, Dr. Strange or some other character to MS?

Kinda wish everything went slowmo the entire duration when he's in the air juggling like that. It looks like there isn't any gravity and he's floating there for that long.

Still fucking awesome though.

we're still tuning, but man you gotta use all four (webs, aerial, gadgets, environment) if you want to deal with bigger fights in the game

Bigger fights...bigger as in bigger enemy or bigger as in crowded...?

Also in that gif he's using the guy to keep himself in the air too. You can see the guy moving back with each hit.

I've been bitching about the swinging physics but complaining about floaty combat is taking it too far. Combat is one of the least important places to be worrying about realism.

I saw maybe 2 but they're not pulled on or have any weight applied at all. One of them he actually casts and moves his arm towards the anchor point...doing nothing. It's only really the point where you juggle one guy, then pull the next guy into the air that bugs me. When a player dispatches an enemy in the air and is deciding to stay there and continue combat, animations need to occur to have it make sense. It looks so much better when you do that.
I can agree on the first webline, but not the second. The second webline is in sync with a move he's doing to pull the baddie up to him and it absolutely looks like he's pulling himself up along with it to stay in the air with that one.

The others may as well be explained away as "too fast to see him applying the strength to pull himself up" in my books. lol.

Seriously though, the fact that they even have the webline animations shooting up to explain the air juggles is more than satisfactory to me. But to each their own.

The Avengers Project is coming (Square, Eidos, Crystal Dynamics) and it's going to be multi-plat. Spider-Man is a PS4 exclusive because Sony. If it does well review-wise, it's gonna bode well for Disney to seek out similar-caliber developers and may possibly seek console exclusivity.

Microsoft have no movie right for any Marvel heroes...

Same, something about it just lacks the look of it being fun. Maybe because we've seen just the basics?

Yeah. It's like. Where is the menace?
Foes fall like flies by only smashing buttons. I really hope there's more equipped enemies like Arkham games where you need to think a little before face them.

This is not a port beg, but a question. Why is this game exclusive to PS4? I understand that spiderman is somehow owned by Sony (I thought it was movie rights, only, but someone can correct me if there is more to it), but the Raimi movies were also made by Sony and the games based on those were released on multiple platforms.

Again, not a port beg, just curious as to what has changed that Sony can make this exclusive while they could not or at least did not make the old spiderman games exclusive.

Activision has Spider-Man game rights that's now over>marvel started a new game initiative>Sony fits that initiative>Sony and marvel went to insomniac>they chose Spider-Man.

I'm not sure I'll ever get over the lack of a quip / taunt button to aggro enemies. Hell, I'd say that should take priority over the melee button for a Spider-Man game.
Oh Goddamn it. Add that to weak sidequests on my list of worries.

Spider-Man should never shut the hell up. Spider-Man should be Deadpool level.

Is this the only type of ennemies we're gonna fight ? don't want to beat clone for hours... looks pretty good otherwise.
