It feels so good to be back in this world. I didn't realise how much I'd missed Aloy until now.

Also, this being one of the new outfits available in an expansion set in a frozen wasteland is extraordinarily silly.

i sincerely hope that 1000 hours was a typo for 100 lmao
1000....hours? Not judging but like...what have you been doing in the game for that long haha. I platinumed it and got 100% + all the audio logs in like 65-70 hours and there's really nothing left to do after that but run around and fight robots.

I just really love Horizon Zero Dawn to the point i didn't really play anything else for a while.

Sadly to say its not a typo

Happy to be back. Loving the frozen wastes.

It's also a relief to play a game I don't half hate(couldn't cancel my Shadow of War pre-order).

Sadly, yes, but I don't really want to do a new game to get to the point you can access the new DLC. I'm happy enough to experience the content and then go back and do everything in New Game +.
So what would you recommend for me who is currently level 5. Should I download it to unlock the new map or finish the game first?

Got shredded on the initial Scorcher fight but found my rhythm again soon after.

Glad to see the Shield Weaver got nerfed. Took some excitement out of fights as it was OP'ed previously.

They should have found a justification for it in the story.

Changing the ultimate reward for playing the main game this drastically in a SP game is super uncool.

Just download it and play the game as you would, it's all a connected world, but this part of the game is right to the north of the map, but it has a recommended level of 30 so you'll probably not approach it until you get close to that level anyway, so it can really take place any time before the final mission of the game.

Looking forward to jumping back into this tonight. Played a bit last night thinking Guerilla would let the LVL 50+ players breeze through the expansion with relative ease, but the big G was like...
giphy.gif

Happily got my rusty ass handed to me by the Scorcher. Need to brush up on those arrow, sling, & trapping skills. Glad I'm not the only one!

Quick questions:

Are the 3 suits included in Deluxe/Limited Editions going up for sale seperately sometime? Are they also included in the Complete edition coming out in December? Bit of a completionist, I gotta have everything!

Hng, just two more weeks until Black Friday and I can pick this game up for $25. I preordered this DLC months ago since it was on sale I think, I just need the full game!

I finally have an empty spot in my backlog for a big open-world game too since I finally finished replaying Dragon Age Inquisition and I'm nearly done with Mario.

You can always turn the difficulty down to Story or Easy.

The original strength of the Shield Weaver is available on lower difficulties. The armor was given a 40% reduction in armor on hard, 66% reduction on very hard, and I think 75% on Ultra Hard.

The only difficulty based trophy is to finish the game on Ultra Hard.

Hands down my GOTY and the best new IP this generation. This DLC really solidifies Guerilla as one of the top studios this moment.

There is a lot of love involved in making this game.

The world is a marvel to behold, not just because of the outstanding graphics (imo best looking game regardless of platform and it is not even close) but also due to the artistic design involved. The variety of locations and vistas you encounter in this journey is perhaps second to none. Every location feels like it has its own character and history, it really feels as if you are an explorer.

The machines the art its just a wonder.

To think that it is Guerilla's first take on open world, on rpg genre and on 3rd person is simply mindblowing. And this DLC is more evidence that from now on they will make even greater strides, since the improvements are so profound over the main game in terms of animation (which was already great) and everything.

Bravo GG. Bravo.

you can buy maps from merchants to help you hunt them down. Best to buy the bluegleam map first. Try to find tallish rock outcroppings oozing out colour - they tend to have a purple item icon over them.

lol... if you think this is bad, you just wait til the sequel where Aloy will have to somehow lose all her gear and start from zero. That Metroid/Samus syndrome.

I wonder how they're going to handle zeroing Aloy for Horizon 2.

I've inserted a time stamp where the guy starts talking. It's insane how much the animation has improved for just being a side quest.

It does seem better but at the same time it's still got that awkward video game polish. I'm glad it's being enjoyed though, maybe when the full version gets heavily discounted I'll jump in.

I died twice at that first battle with the new machine. Then I got smart on the third attempt and I scanned the machine with my focus and then I hit the thing with the thing and then he died.

The combat in this game is so good.

oh my god this game is just so good. Even though I did everything already in the main game, I seriously just want to play the whole game over again. I'm savouring every single bit of this masterpiece of a game and the expansion is just a nice, sweet cherry on top.

It's not like I was a pro in this game before but I'm routinely getting my ass whooped by the DLC.

It's gotten to the point I'm doubting which weapons bows I'm supposed to be using for maximum damage. I'm also wearing the Shield Weaver armor so I thought that would make it easier.

I have completed the main story on the original game and I just have a couple of errands to complete, before going into The Frozen Wilds is there anything I should know or tips?

In the main map I have of course killed a few machines in doing the errands tonight and from one of them I got a weapon modification that is triangle shaped instead of the regular circular ones, I have also upgraded as many of the 'Traveller' skills as I could.

I do have all the best weapons from the Lodge and also the shield-weaver armor, I have not played the ultra hard level so I don't have those weapons even though I know they are more powerful (I don't know if you can use these in the regular game though) I probably won't be going into the Frozen Wilds until the weekend and I really do not want to miss out anything, so is there a guide or some tips before going in?

EDIT Just found this and it seems to answer some of my questions - 9 Things I Wish I Knew Before Playing Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds < video guide/tips may contain spoilers.

Man this is good. Glad to be back in this world and game, it's just so lovingly crafted. The way the snow responds to Aloy is amazing. I love the little touches, like snow accumulating on your armor which will melt when you get in water and then your wet clothes gradually freeze up after you come out of the water. The way fire on top of an icy, frozen pond/lake will melt the top layers of ice and turn it into water. The wind whipping through the trees, blowing snow around....it just all looks and plays amazing. Great reminder that Horizon is a top contender for GOTY.

I am so excited to be playing this again. Just got my 'welcome back' by getting absolutely destroyed by the first enemy of the DLC and thrown off of the mountain I just climbed lol

I installed Frozen Wilds today and am planning to play later this week. However, even though I beat the game my save file is right before the final mission. Has anyone figured out a way around this or do I have to finish the game before Frozen Wilds questlines show up?

There's nothing to get around. There's no real 'postgame', it just drops you back before the final mission. You should see a couple new quest markers, head to any of them and it'll kickstart the Frozen Wilds stuff.

Started my completed game save, looked 20 minutes for quest givers... went to the internet for clues, found that I was on the right spot but still no one showed uo. Checked the dlc on the store, I realized that I never downloaded the dlc. -_-

At least is just a couple of minutes...

Probably going to finish a few other games in my backlog before starting this, but really excited there's more Horizon to play. Back in March I got so engrossed in Zero Dawn, and it wound up being one of the few times I got 100% completion on a game (also appreciate they didn't make it too difficult to do so). Have to admit I felt a bit bummed when I was finally done with the game at that point and had to step out of the role of being Aloy. Glad to hear good things about Frozen Wilds, and just want to wrap up some other games first so I can take the time to enjoy it.

Quick question, sorry if this has been answered before. If I buy this and then start a new game of Horizon Zero Dawn, do I immediately get access to the new tech tree? I haven't played Horizon since like the week after launch, and only had a few hours into it, so I want to just start a new game and was curious if it's worth just getting this from the get go.

Just quoting this to see if anyone knows the answer

Nope you have to pass the mission " Seeker at the gates first to get access to the DLC area

From the PS BLOG

3.) Complete the Quest "A Seeker at the Gates"
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds adds a whole new region known as The Cut, which becomes accessible after you've completed the quest A Seeker at the Gates. If you're at level 30 you most likely already completed this quest, but if you're not sure you can check its completion status in the Quests menu.

So I spent a bunch of time just making trails in the snow.

Then, during one of the earlier encounters with the first new machine you run into, I paused the game because some family that had flown in from across the country arrived at the house.

I came back and noticed just how insane the combination of particles from the snow, explosions, smoke, and electricity jumping off the creature looked. Had to take screenshots and a clip.

That sounds great. I should get started.

Here's a nice overview for beginners, btw:
