Jason Schreier: Top-secret 2K studio is now working on a top-secret new BioShock game

As immersive sims, I find that all the Bioshock games fail and fail pretty hard.

As action games, I really like them.

So i guess I am saying that this excites me, but only if they stick to what they know.

I thought we knew a new Bioshock game was inevitable.

Can't really call it top secret anymore.

I feel like... he might have reported this before?

Like I heard this somewhere before. Am I losing my mind? Quite possibly.

In any case, I'm OVERJOYED by the news. I absolutely adore all the Bioshock games (and Bioshock Infinite is one of the greats, fight me.)

2K has been hiring for this new Bioshock studio since October and have been extremely unsubtle about the fact that it's a Bioshock game.

"We're starting a new studio to make a systems driven stylized FPS with a killer narrative"

... Geez, I wonder what that game could be.

The discourse around Infinite made me hope we would never see another BioShock game in my lifetime but I guess this timeline is indeed the worst.

I like how a thread was made about this before the main story he wrote.

It was pretty recent. I thought there was a rumor about it being in development last year.

Yeah honestly the actual story is important and a real bummer and it's kind of depressing it's being ignored in favor of this

I hope it's more in the style and less in the universe. BioShock 2 is a fine, competent game held back by needing to fit in existing lore.

Bioshock 1 is one of my all-time favorite games. Really curious about this...

Mission design was alright from what I remember but they really struggled with making interesting side content or open world activities. A lot of that was just plain bad, the kind of stuff we'd rip Ubisoft for. I still liked the game overall though and would have liked to see them improve for a 4th game.

Seeing them shifted to a fucking Bioshock game of all things hurts me worse than if the studio was simply shut down. Truly a fate worse than death so to speak.

Your own question says all... BioShock 2 is a bad game and this meme needs to die (the only think that saves is maybe the Minerva DLC)... how do you consider it the best BioShock is indeed intriguing.

I'm not surprised there's a new Bioshock, I thought everyone expected we'd get one sooner or later given they still own the IP. Without Ken Levine though I'm staying cautiously excited - Bioshock 1 and Infinite were a clear level above Bioshock 2 (which was still a fun game).

this has been knew for ages!

The next Bioshock should take place underground on the Moon.

Bring it home, Ken. This IP still got mad potential.

Different studios. Mafia might not have another entry since Hangar 13 is currently struggling, but they aren't the ones working on the new BioShock.

Mafia 3 was one of the most disappointing game for me. No story can fix the terrible gameplay and launch mess.

I'll take another Bioshock

Bioshock 2 is the only game in the series i can say is very good without making a bunch of excuses for it

I wonder how many times they have canned and restarted this because I feel like I have heard whispers about the secret 2K Bioshock game since soon after Infinite came out.

Hopefully the combat is not as piss poor as Infinite was.

Just have a decent story and actually make it an immersive sim this time.

Wish it was a 4K Studio. :(

I wasn't actually a big fan of 1, but Infinite grabbed me and I have since replayed 1 and really enjoyed it. I would definitely be up for a new story in that world.

So now someone is purposely using a rumour to promote an unrelated article.

Luckily the article is good though I pausung on the part where it goes into the troubles of the next game after Mafia 3, Rhapsody.

I finally played the Bioshock series this year and Bioshock became one of my top 10 games of all time. Needless to say I'm excited for this and can't wait to see the unveiling.

We've been underwater. We've been to the sky. What if this game takes place on a piece of flat ground? With a sky and everything!

Wait... if a secret team is doing the new Bioshock, what is 2K Marin doing? I assumed that's what they were working on.
