(May I request for someone with actual photo-editing skills to make a clean and proper version of this? Cause this was done to the best of my lacking abilities with the quick screenshot edit on my iPad.)

Man this fight has been great. And I love Gentle's backstory. Get that W

https://www.reddit.com/r/BokuNoHero...season_3_episode_40_wild_wild_pussycats_will/

Also I really like how the pussycats have a relatively well built body despite not hving physical quirks, I hope some of the class 1-a girls look like that in the future.
Agreed. I hope Ochaco ends up like that since she's a martial artist now. Obviously Kendo as well.
Gentle's background is interesting, but probably super common. How many failed heroes are there in a society where everyone wants to be one?
It being common actually makes it interesting to me because not all of them stepped up to do what Gentle has done
My one disappointment in this fight is how Deku is only (right?) using Delaware Smash: Air Force to attack. No Shoot Style or others. Otherwise, it has been amazing. Easily one of my favorites in the entire series.
Yeah that's my only problem too. It wouldn't fit this fight but I do miss it still

I want gentle to win bc I think Midoriya is actually being pretty annoying. I like this fight but I think it's gone on for a little too long so I'm glad it's ending next chapter.

I hope Deku wins. Gentle's backstory is sad, but ultimately he's being selfish. He wants to be famous, he wants to achieve his dreams. He wants to be remembered and to have someone want to be like him.

These are understandable desires but being willing to step on the feelings of others, as he admitted in the chapter, ultimately makes him in the wrong here. Deku may seem like he's just doing this for a silly reason (the festival), but there are larger consequences to Gentle getting away with what he wants to do. Not to mention taking away the first chance a little girl who has spent her whole life being abused might have to experience something good in her life for once.

Personally I just think this culture festival stuff is lame and I would rather see Gentle ruin it and have some interesting stuff happen than have a couple chapters of everyone laughing and smiling

Lol really makes me sound like a grump doesn't it

As long as Kendo and Aoyama get their shine, I don't care what happens to the Festival

I think Gentle is an interesting character. I mean, at first glance I see his actions and motivations as wrong and selfish, but I can't help but sympathize with him in a way...especially as an adult. So many of us have had to endure not being good enough to achieve what we want. There's also the pressure of not meeting the expectations of society that has driven him to the point of becoming a villain. It's interesting to consider that with his current level of skill and the support of La Brava he could be a hero now. Going back for a refresher on the last few chapters though it seems like what he's actually trying to do is "save" the students of U.A. by ensuring they become strong enough to not suffer his fate. He sees a weakness to the school that he wants to strengthen. There's still the appearance of selfishness there...he wants to be at the center of it all and be recognized for it, but I can also see some good intentions there. We don't even really know what he plans to do as far as I'm aware.

Then you have Deku, who wants nothing more than to protect his school and the happiness of someone who has only known abuse until recently. You can see the desperation on his face...out of context it would be hard to tell who the good guy is in these panels, which makes me wonder if Horikoshi is going to play this straight or give us some kind of twist. Maybe Deku's actions will show Gentle that the kids at U.A. don't need the wake-up call that he's trying to give them. Alternatively, Deku could (and maybe should) fail so he can learn that what society considers a "villain" may not always be a bad person...that it's not always that cut-and-dry. Or maybe he'll just be a monster of the week and we'll just move on, but I certainly hope not. Regardless, I'm excited to see how this plays out.

Midoriya winning would show his growth though. Why would one want him to lose against a midboss.
How is gentle a midboss?

I like Slice of life so I am loving this arc, I like how Horikoshi is adding some panels about the cultural festival while the fight is happening so I have the best of both worlds.

I like slice of life too,and I think a bit of it is fine after a really instense arc, but if I wanted a whole arc of slice of life I would watch a slice of life anime

Keep your slice of life arc off my battle shōnen plate please

Correct, if Gentle if able to sneak into the Festival this is going to hurt the Academy's image as a haven (a safe place) for the new generation.

Hes not as interesting as Shigaraki, so he'll always be midboss tier..

Also there are not even any high stakes for this fight so it is hard to really get that enamored by it as others are or even seemingly putting in the best fight in the whole manga.

In most battle shounen some of the best fights have no stakes, so I dunno why you trying to force that a fight needs high stakes to be better.

The fact that there aren't "high stakes" kind makes the actual outcome of the fight come into question and makes it more interesting. Like compare this to One Piece, there was absolutely no way Luffy was going to actually lose his latest fight. Deku can lose and it won't be the end of the world.

When will Izuku "Dream Destroyer Deku" Midoriya be stopped?

Anyways, I kind of feel that there may be a swerve twist that the VA or Gigantomachia are actually going to be attacking UA while Deku's away, and that's what Hound Dog noticed at the start of the chapter.

Yeah, hoping Gentle gets a little redemption.

This is probably a stretch, but it would be cool if Gentle/La Brava got to perform at the festival lol.

UA gets attacked, Gentle sacrifices himself to save them, finally becomes famous after the fact

Next time we see that guy he will come back as villain inspired by Gentle to take his revenge on that monster Deku

It helps that beating him doesn't just amount to using brute force and Eri powered brute force
well it helps it's about equal

I do like the detail about because he's a failed hero Gentle isn't really good at fighting and relies on La Brava to get by it wasn't until he faced someone who can match him where he gets on trouble

I do like the implication that he actually cares about La Brava and not just using her as he gets upset when she thinks her feelings wasn't enough

This chapter sounded rubbish in the text spoilers. Was actually really good.

I feel like I kinda get what Shiggy is talking about now. 80% of people have quirks yet when people need saving, the vast majority just say "I wonder when a hero will arrive". It's not a power level thing either. Even heroes with shit quirks like Nighteye's assistant do what they can.

This is a terrible opinion.

Also what's with those avatars? It's not another mass avatar bet thing, is it? That shit got old in the Old Place with Knack.
Nah, just some people recognized Rebecca as the best character in OP, of course I am a sane man so I don't participate in such group.

Love Lover makes way more sense with her power. Silfer and all of us over in the one piece thread have really come around on Rebecca. Looking back she was truly one of Oda's finest characters.

also bruh just say neogaf
