I really like Lennertz's expressive, thematic score. The show itself, not so much.

Watched the first four episodes last night. Like all TV space shows, it's got its share of dumb moments, but I like the complexity of the family, it looks good, and I think the acting is largely better than your average space show. Very different tone than the original, of course, but I can't imagine most of the people watching have seen the original or care. I'm particularly enjoying the change of power dynamic between mom and dad, and Parker Posey's slow burn "Dr. Smith".

Finished it earlier. It's not their next Stranger Things, that's for sure -- but the good far outweighs the bad for me. Highlights were the score, Will + Robot (good acting, good effects, good character arc), the new interpretation of Dr.Smith. A lot of the supporting cast is very lacking, but the core family is mostly good and you care about what happens to them. Don West was a big improvement over the '98 film version, he's a lot more comedic and doesn't just feel like a younger version of the father character.

Low points is some of the science isn't as convincing or smart as it should be, but honestly in a show like this it's not going to be something that weighs on my mind as much as the character and adventure aspects, which are pretty good.

I think I'd rank it closer to shows like Dark or Ozark on the Netflix quality scale. Solidly within the B+ range.

Hoping for a Season 2. I'd like them to work on the "wow" factor -- this is a strange new world and we want to see stuff that feels really cool or clever. There's some of that here, but it's pushed way to the back burner.

Enjoying it so far, will watch more episodes tomorrow.

Surprised no on mentioned to cameo in episode 1.

Bill Mumy (the original Will Robinson, also Lennier on Babylon 5) as the "real" Dr. Smith.

Just finished the season and wow , its abit underwhelming

They escape the planet using animal shit, like really your telling me no one thought of finding an alternate fuel source from the very start ?? And the fact that those eel's used their fuel as food because it was similar to their own would have been a great point to start their alternate fuel quest.

Oh I remembered where I know that lady from, she was the ice cold lawyer in Boston Legal for a few eps that hate-fucked James Spader.

Show absolutely goes to shit after episode 6, I am so heartbroken because the show was amazing before then. The writing just absolutely suffers after episode 6. Its like the latter episodes are made by a completely different team. I have one more episode to go and I am hoping that the finale can at least be spectacularly beautiful so that the show can be redeemed.

EDIT: Overall C- for me. Its like a really long Iron Man II.

Just finished episode 4. The whole show just feels pretty dull and soulless to me; pure style over substance entertainment. There's so much expository dialogue and the family melodrama isn't at all interesting, and the "emotional" bond between the boy and the robot is totally flat and uninvolving.

Molly Parker and Parker Posey doing good work, the kids are pretty ehh though.

Only watched the first episode so far but it was pretty decent, I liked the exchanges between the robot and Will.

I fast forwarded half the Dr Smith scenes. There were only so many "Parker Posey manipulates someone" scenes I could stand.

I was reading up on the original series and I feel like this version of it was what the original creators actually intended.

The original series became the Dr. Smith, Will, and Robot show cause that's what the audience liked.

Good lord, these people are idiots. Why is there so much "Im going to withhold vital information for no reason" going on here?

Why do writers have difficulty creating suspense without making the characters do or say idiotic things?

I'm only up to Ep 6 but I'm feeling the same way. Her character is so annoyingly evil and vile that I'm finding it hard to watch any scene with her in it now.

Molly Parker and Toby Stephens are great in everything and the kids aren't terribly annoying -- in fact Judy is pretty cool. Enjoying it so far.

Just finished, wasn't bad. Never saw the original series, and I don't think I watched the movie either.

why on earth has this turned into...

...a 'colony' show???

there's a million shows out there like that with generic episodes about...

...'colony' struggles

i want my lost in space to be dumb and silly

(on episode 7, and it's ok)

watched it all, it's quite enjoyable if not particularly spectacular. As usual with Netflix shows the production value is high, what I think helps hugely.

finished episode 4 and without detailed spoilers do they explain why Judy is biracial? she's obviously not 100% white like the rest of the family.

I looked at this as a family adventure show with a science fiction backdrop and I was entertained through it. I did not think of this as hard science fiction.

It's explained by a conversation kind of, but they never go too deep into it.

There's a single line that addresses it later in the show. John isn't her paternal father. He and Maureen got together when Judy was a baby/really young.

Her biological father is black, John came into the picture when she was a baby and raised her. Never mentioned again, no elaboration.
Missed opportunity to have John be black and the rest of the kids to be biracial if you ask me. I guess it would have been viewed as a "black show" with more than two of us.

I thought this was okay for the most part. Couldn't stand the Dr Smith character though and was hoping they would leave her to die on the planet. I hope season 2 starts with them throwing her out an airlock.

4 episodes in. Started really strong. The robot is charming as hell, the characters are pretty good so far, even if Will's actor is... well, a child actor. Dr. Smith is a bit much with so much focusing on her being mischievous every damn scene. It's like I just want her to integrate herself into the group to cement her cover just a bit more so that whatever shit she does try to pull feels more meaningful.

Penny is a very entertaining wise-ass.

Episode 1.

Not too sure what to think. It's just so.... serious. Even the 90's film had some bit of camp to it. Going to keep watching, but I hope it lightens up a bit.
