I heard a story from guys I knew when one buffed guy that frequented the gym regularly went to work in a construction site. Couldnt even last 1 hour

Makes sense. Depending on what you do, you train a different thing. 4-6 = force. 8-10= mass. 12+ = resistance.

Asking him to work at a construction site is like asking a person trained for a 100 meter race to run in a marathon. He hasn't trained his body to run long distances, so he's bound to get a worse result than a person that has been getting the necessary training for that.

Add also lifting weights, weather conditions, vertigo adjustment, jumping from one platform to the other, speed, accidents, pollution. No training can make up for it except work and even then it is not for everyone

As a carpenter for over 24 years, I can confirm this. I see a lot of gym folks come to work every spring. Very rarely do they make it past a few weeks. There is a huge turnover rate in this industry and a shortage of workers cause no one wants to do it. (Im in northern Ontario for the record.)

Sorry to bring up a music video instead of games. But you've been recently talking bit about what women find sexy and I've been wondering this one video, if it's sexy or just silly to women. I have hard time figuring out if it's a satire or seriously intended as titillating. It has been cut by a gay man, so maybe it's not so much what women find sexy but what he does. It feels so over the top, similarly to sexy music videos featuring women we more commonly get. Or maybe even more than that. Dude isn't exactly like Zangief or Kratos.

Edit: NSFW probably btw.

OMG

He's so hot! And indeed NSFW!!! He's showing his ass and is really suggestive. I'm not used to seeing guy singers acting 'slutty'.

He is definitely sexy and is being serious about it. In terms of looks, he is amazing. And the things he is doing is sexy but I don't know if I want to see that all the time. It is too much. I think he succeeded and there will definitely be girls who appreciate it when they just want to turn their brains off and enjoy sexy time.

Nice voice btw, what language is he speaking?

I didn't watch it, but based on the name in the video, I would guess Finnish?
Yup, it's Finnish. I was thinking too that this could be bit too much, which is why I was wondering if it could be a satire. Licking his fingers, the water on him, clawing his bare chest, shooting champagne from the crotch, visible ass crack, sticking his hand to his pants and just almost showing it all. But then again, we see similar things all the time featuring women. It REALLY stands out when man is sexualized in such a manner, it rarely happens to my experience. Now of course there's an occasional Magic Mike or two, but from games it's really hard to find anything like that. Probably better luck with Japanese games than western. I was just reading the review for the new Yakuza game on a local magazine. Apparently it has somewhat enthusiastic female fanbase here. Or that's what the reviewer wrote atleast, shirtless Kazuma is supposedly hot stuff.

Yep I agree w/ RpgN, this is definitely sexy, not silly.
A couple moments might have struck me as a little over the top (mostly when he was exploding/spraying stuff at the camera), but I think those things would have looked silly regardless of if a man or woman was doing them.

Wow!!! I legit don't think I've ever seen a male sexuality expose like that before!
haha I always think of this amazingly talented flamenco dancer tearing it up, shirtless, in a display of talent and confidence I can only admire.

Wasn't Joaquin Cortes the inspiration behind Vamp from MGS? I remember reading something about it. And yes, that dude is very attractive.

...That reminds me. A few years ago I was talking with a gaming friend about video games, and I admitted that I thought Vamp was sexy. He laughed at me. Not in any mean-spirited way but he was like "ewww really? he looks so goofy and stupid, licking his knife like some vampire goth lord, it's so dumb, etc etc." I admitted that yes, he was silly and over the top, but regardless of that, the guy was still really attractive-looking, and his voice and accent were very sexy too. And he was all, "Well, I don't get it... buuuuut, you know what, I really shouldn't be one to talk. Because, if I were to tell you who my video game crush was, you'd laugh at me too."

Which of course prompted me to ask, and it was... Bayonetta. =D (This was before Bayonetta 2, even). And yes, I told him he had no business laughing at me, and he agreed and admitted he had being unfair and hypocritical. :D

Budi Finally checked the video (with sound off, speakers are dead here... I think that's probably for the best xD) and I agree with Jotakori and RpgN.

I have also never seen a male performer be so overtly sexualized like that outside of porn, holy shit lol. I guess we can finally say... "we got one!!"

Outside of the internet I've seen women like Geralt from the Witcher 3. I've heard unprovoked mentions of how handsome/sexy he is, without me specifically asking about it. I think it helps a bit that while having gruff exterior there's bit of softness inside and he's clearly capable of empathy. So it's not just how he looks. And he really doesn't get sexualized in the game besides the bath he takes at the start. The sex scenes put much bigger emphasis on the women too, I don't think we even see Geralt's bare butt. I guess it kinda makes sense as we play as him that the scenes are more in his pov. But imo they could have done those bit differently for a better result. Video game sex scenes are hard though.
All I can think of is...

Yeah Peter Andre crossed my mind when thinking of anything similar, but while sexy and shirtless I don't think he sells it quite in the same way. Iggy is confident and no doubt sexual (and high on drugs), but I think his act more as a force of nature, even "vulgar" and abrasive at points. Can't really come up with better terms for what I mean. I think it's more about expressing himself on stage and giving his all (and being on drugs). Not sure his antics and moves are usually that sexy. He's a legend though. While that video is really made to titillate.

Thanks for giving your thoughts everyone!

Edit: Also I don't want to downplay or dismiss it if someone finds Iggy Pop sexy, not my intention. I'm sure many do or atleast did find him attractive and sexy. Just how that sexy is presented is very different. I don't think it's that kind of sexualized that can make straight guys uncomfortable. Similarly to Kratos being shirtless but Mobius Final Fantasy protagonist getting backlash from men for his outfit. No men are telling Iggy and Kratos to cover up.

The music sounds normal and not suggestive at all. Maybe it's what's he's saying in Finish that is suggestive.

Surprisingly neutral or positive stuff, all things considered. At least when it comes to the comments with more than a handful of upvotes. I'm sure if you scroll down enough you're gonna see a LOT of "GAY" comments.

I've been checking some Heroes of the Storm skins since I've been playing it a lot lately. My absolute favorite hero to play is Sylvanas, I've played around 200 games as her. And I never really noticed it before, but she doesn't have even one optional skin without visible cleavage. 5 different designs excluding the color variations. 3 of them leaving her stomach visible too. I do think that some of them still look really cool though. I guess why I never noticed it because there's nothing bringing attention to her figure, as there's no such camera movement and close ups that would "eat her up". You can properly see the designs in character select and in the awards after the match. While playing the view is isometric and from quite high so the skins don't really draw much attention then.
Edit: For visual aid few of the skins, I'm currently using the one on the left and the one on the right is the least sexualized one imo. Yet it has her hips visible too and a boob armor with a cleavage.

Yeah it's quite suggestive. It's no lyrical masterpiece and even worse with my quick freeform translation but it goes about like this. It's damn hard to translate lyrics.

You're too freaky babe (like me), let's do something sick babe (let me), I close the curtains, or do you want the neighbours to see.
My mama told me not to play with girls, but I let you undress your shoes, I promise to rock you softly, treat you like a flower.
Drip the candle, there's no hurry, whatever you want, I can take it.

The loli-comedy series has been serialized in Futabasha's Monthly Action since its October 2016 issue.
The story centers on Misha Takanashi, a second grade elementary school girl whose father is Japanese and mother was Russian. After she lost her mother at an early age, she has lived alone with her father.
One day, a new maid named Tsubame Kamoi comes to their house to serve as their maid. She was a former master sergeant of Japan Air Self-Defense Force, and her biggest problem is that she is a lolicon who is deeply attracted to Misha.

And that's why I think I won't renew my sub in May. The only series they have that interests me is Food Wars (yeah and sorry) and it doesn't interest me enough to pay the fee.

I'll just enjoy Tokyo Ghoul: re in YT (read TG everyone) and see what I can do with MHA because nobody has the anime publishing rights in Spain.

Is this the logical conclusion to the moe obsession that has taken over anime in the past 10 years?

We get adaptations of trash like this but Dungeon Meshi languishes in obscurity.

Nice job translating those lyrics for us, lol. I'm a straight woman but for some reason the video's not doing anything for me. I guess I'm not into the overconfidence. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't play Heroes of the Storm, but I admit I actually really like those costumes -- especially the one on the left. I think it's pretty.

God, it's getting harder and harder for me to appreciate anime every season....

Anime has always had problematic nonsense, but I've got to agree. Even the best stuff comes with so much baggage and the fetishization of 'cute' characters has seriously tainted the field. Not that lolicon hasn't existed for years, but the older I get the more uncomfortable this all becomes. The obsession with moe only exacerbated the issue.

I wish that I could say that manga was better off, but it seems like the sienen comics are becoming chock-full of this stuff.

I think the biggest problem with the anime industry, is that, like video games, they began really growing in the 70s, flourished in the 80s and 90s, but they haven't really gone anywhere from those roots. Most of what these industries are is steeped in material that's 40 or more years old and hasn't figured out how to get beyond that. Most of what I'm about to discuss is related to Japanese game and anime industries, not necessarily Chinese, Korean, American, or other markets (they've all got their own problems).

Of particular note - there's a new Cutie Honey show this season for anime, 45 years later - and the graphics aren't better - they're different. And the story isn't better, just different (and the music is virtually unchanged). The same thing has been happening lately with games, but it's even worse lately with the explosion of remakes and remasters. And what I imagine is happening in many of those scenarios, due to a much more crowded market, is the same cynical thing Lindsay Ellis recently described in her two-parter on The Hobbit movies:

But it's even worse in the game and anime industry, because of how involved production and costs are now, that you get games that are just filled with crossovers and tie-ins, all to fill a hole that never existed under the assumption that, "these are reliable and will sell well", with even less understanding than the movie industry of what that means. I am fairly certain that if you asked production companies what was important about a game, you'd get both a marketing answer and a "to make money" answer, probably in the same breath, and probably under the assumption that these forms of entertainment will be, and always have been, meaningless. The constant refrain of "it's just a game" and "oh Japan" is a pretense for not discussing bigger, more endemic problems in the game and anime industry (and importantly, that I doubt many of the decisions are regularly influenced by a formal director, and are likely instead the result of marketing research - which doesn't bode well for cultural growth in these industries - meaning that these industries are becoming more like lifestyle products such as Coke or Pepsi). These issues are exacerbated by more competition and a lack of drive to consolidate. If anything, these industries are more fragmented now than they've ever been - and while that leads to more products, the overall quality of those products will take a nosedive and consumers will be far less sure of what to consume. The reason consolidation hasn't happened, is a result of too many cooks (in particular, too many people at senior level positions whose job is essentially directing others, rather than creating content - which is likely what they did before they took up that more managerial role, in spite of unlikely having much of an idea of how to fill that role).

So you've got oversaturation and inability at the top (people becoming managers and producers without formally understanding those roles), too many voices in the middle (marketing making decisions), combined with a lack of broader cultural awareness (sexism and racism still as prevalent and predictable as they were 40 years ago - with new excuses) and an ultra competitive market (60+ anime a season, and tons of games released every month). Under normal circumstances, a market that competitive would normally evoke a need to find new markets, but the anime and game industry have instead, effectively, doubled down on the assumed market they already have - and it has tanked funding as a result. Because investors know those audiences now and know they are severely limited. Seeing that, funding for new ideas has dried up, and instead now focuses on milking the audience they know and presume is the only one they'll ever have (i.e., crowdfunding now becoming necessary rather than an option).

The result is an industry that simply continues to see more extremes (both in terms of money and in terms of design - see XC2 or Uma Musume) and tends to want to be "safe", with the assumption that the product they're selling cannot expand more than a set amount and that there are no other audiences they can bring into the fold (both of which clearly aren't true - but nevertheless remain the standing wisdom).

It also doesn't help the cannibalizing nature anime (and video games) currently have with later anime being inspired by earlier ones, creating a perpetual cycle that flanderizes itself with every cycle. Both lack inspiration from outside itself, and even that does happen, it's usually still baked within the old anime tropes.

It's definitely part of the japanese culture and normalized as such. Idols and teenage/children Gravure idols just shows it. Pick an magazine in Japan for this and you'll see children with swimsuits and bikinis in such poses.

Probably because the company where the manga is published is funding it's adaptation with other companies. I don't remember where Dungeon Meshi is serialized but without the interest of other companies to fund a anime along the manga publisher, that doesn't happen.

God, it's getting harder and harder for me to appreciate anime every season....

That's easy. Don't pick those to watch. I don't like works like that so I don't pick it in any media.
