The spin attack does hit hard but not sure I've ever been OHK by it from full HP. You can learn to dodge through it, or just look out for its visual tells and dodge back out then in again.Wow! Looks like I'm at an impasse, I've not seen anything like it in a souls game, a one hit kill boss. I have 31 vitality and it does one spin attack which is really difficult to avoid and its full health to nothing, I died. Its an Undead Giant in a chalice I guess these chalice dungeons are shit, like wtf, do they not play test this, is there not some trick to it.

I'd recommend doing the nightmare frontier. I bet you're a bit over leveled for that area already. And yeah I love the forbidden woods, it's my favorite area. So many little nooks and crannys. What I learned about Forbidden Woods was finding the shortcuts makes it a lot more bearable before you beat the boss of the area. Now that I've discovered most of the shortcuts and beat the boss, I feel good about going back there to farm echoes, vials, and bullets.
Quick question. So right now, as far as I know, after beating Rom I have the option of doing the Nightmare Frontier area or Yahar'gul. Any recommendations on which one I should tackle or doesn't even matter? My hunter is currently at lvl 75 I think with 30 Vit, 23 End, 18 Str, 30 Skl, 12 BT, and 12 Arc.
These posts give me life. Loving reading this shit. Also love the last part "I'm making a tea." LolSo I finished this a few hours ago.
This is now one of my favourite games of all time, easily. Can't believe it. I mean, I wasn't even sure if I liked it for ten hours or so, then as Gascoigne beat my ass I realised I was loving it for some reason. Now I've unlocked all the endings, got almost every important item, I'm fairly close to Platinuming it - which I never even do anymore - and now I'm reading up on the damn lore and plan to do NG+ later on. This just does not happen to me anymore. I have so many games on Steam that've failed to hold my attention for longer than 20 hours, yet here I am trying 20+ times to beat freaking Orphan of Kos on my own, as someone who's never particularly enjoyed high levels of difficulty. Almost nothing else has grabbed me like this in years, and I've kept away from most RPGs all my life. Never even showed the slightest bit of interest in the Souls games, and never in a million years would I have thought I'd be into this. I'm totally shocked. What weirds me out even more is as far as I know, my story isn't even unique.
Game is outstanding in basically every area. Best atmosphere I've seen in any game. The combat's fantastic and I want it in practically everything. The soundtrack is so up my alley it's ridiculous (Ludwig's theme was basically what made me buy the game in the end). The doll is one of my favourite NPCs ever, surprisingly. Ludwig and Maria are some of the best bosses in any game as far as I'm concerned. Sound design is amazing. Level design is some of the best I've ever seen. And it's got plenty of replay value to boot? Jesus Christ, man. Game is legitimately the most inspiring thing I've played in a long time.
tl;dr Bloodborne good.
EDIT:
Defiled Amygdala is hands down the worst and hardest boss in the game imo.
Why do I want to replay this game after already Platinuming it? I really want a 2nd game... but I'll take whatever From is cooking.
Nice! Congrats! So I finished this a few hours ago.

Yeah after playing Bloodborne and it being my first Souls game, I had no problem going into Dark Souls 3. And I ended up loving that game too.If this is anyone's first Souls game, try the others as well. Bloodborne teaches you the correct way to play Souls so now you're set for the other games. Dump the shields, get light armor, AND ROLL.

I love reading those stories. Reminds me of my own with Demon's Souls back in late 2009. Love your Discord screecaps too hahaha
Thanks, m8s.
I'll probably try DS Remastered, assuming it doesn't turn out to be a botch job. Still pretty wary of Dark Souls though, honestly. I wouldn't think I'd like it, but I thought the same about Bloodborne too, so who knows. I know plenty of people got into DS after BB.If this is anyone's first Souls game, try the others as well. Yeah... those dudes are one of the most difficult enemies in the game. The singing they do...Started the Nightmare Frontier. Most of the enemies were no problem just annoying. HOWEVER, WTF at the Winter Lanterns?? Those things are nightmare fuel in looks and action. Got grabbed and killed like 3 times in a row by one. Then I thought about my encounters with them realized that I didn't even try to shoot and staggered it for a visceral. SMDH. It's on tonight!
Then there's the shark people in hamlet. Those are the real enemies they should've dialed back on. Lol like god damn.I never had problems with the winter lanters, I mean, yeah, I had problems with them being annoying, but they weren't that scary (maybe cause I just kept running away from them), and I sort of liked their singing. The hairbloodspidercrawl-fuckingthings outside Cainhurst though... Like, if there ever was a time when the devs should've gone "you know what, I think we've gone too far now, lets dial it back a bit" it'd be for those fuckers... I mean... god damn...
lol, agreed. Those long haired spider things in DS3 are from the same circle of hell. NOPE!I never had problems with the winter lanters, I mean, yeah, I had problems with them being annoying, but they weren't that scary (maybe cause I just kept running away from them), and I sort of liked their singing. EDIT:
I am honoured.
In my playthrough I decided to see how much Insight I could stack (mostly to buy a Blood Rock).Yeah I guess on paper the winter lanterns aren't hard enemies. But they do have a bit of that physiological warfare. First the singing, which is unsettling, especially with headphones on. But then of course is the frenzy meter, which puts you on edge. And god forbid you're wearing armor with low frenzy res or have a build that way. And while you don't ever fight two at a time, there are multiple areas where you fight one right after the other, so yeah it can get tense. But I still stand by that they are one of the more difficult enemies in the game. Of course no where near the shark people or the ugly spider fucks in cainhurst.

Amen.
Starting to think I will be officially stopped by Lady Maria. I've tried every trick in the book and died more to her than any other boss. Normal strats, parrying, stunlocking, nothing works for me. Miserable.
Depends on what your stats are. I bought and used the Kirkhammer through the whole game but I focused on strength.I beat Matyr Logarious today. What an exhilarating fight. I much prefer bosses that can be parried and then viceraled. I have the rune that increases visceral damage so I was hitting him for about 1200 a pop. Overall I really liked Castle Cainhurst. It was fun to explore and I really like it when areas loop around themselves so you can open shortcuts as you advance through the area. It creates a genuine sense of place and physical space. At first I was scared of going in because of the spider creatures that roam the outside of the castle but other than that it was very manageable at level 50. I love parrying so fighting the ghosts was tons of fun, even though the wailing and the jump scares had me on my toes. I'm guessing the Vilebloods are sort of like the PvP covenant?
I'm doing the Unseen Village now I guess. I've replaced the Hunter's Axe for LHB+7 since it just has such great scaling. But I prefer the axe's moveset and range. I guess I'm a bit bummed out that I haven't found anything better than LHB. Am I missing something? Should I be looking in the chalice dungeons? I like helping people with bosses that I've already killed and some players have some really cool looking weapons I didn't even know existed.
I'm going mostly blind but if someone has some (mostly) spoiler free tips on where I could find some fun weapons to use instead of the LHB I'd really appreciate it.
I finally did. I died the first time in her third form trying to help, then the second I just said screw it, stayed away and let two pros double team her.I'd say just summon at this point if you're having that much trouble. If you're playing online, that is.
Pros? So like 2+ you? No wonder that is rough XDI finally did. I died the first time in her third form trying to help, then the second I just said screw it, stayed away and let two pros double team her.

There's the whirlygig saw in the DLC too, which is fun and has a similar one handed/two handed transform.
