Sonic Mania Plus announced - Physical release, new characters, new mode

I'm really hoping that Fang the Sniper/Nack the Weasel gets another shot in a potential Mania 2.
I feel like he would've provided a unique experience without posing too much of a heavy change to gameplay like for instance Amy, as they could have given him his gun, and the pogo jump with his tail, which wouldn't have been much different from Tails' flight or Knuckles' climbing in terms of mobility. A story also should be easy to whip up since Fang is a selfish and greedy bastard, who probably would be going after Robotnik if there's a reason for him to do so (such as, for instance, the posters in Mirage Saloon from that one Egg Heavy's impersonation of him).

Or we could keep having 2D and 3D games instead of arbitrarily deciding that Sonic fans are only allowed to enjoy retro throwback platformers that exclude any characters created after 1996.
There's no way this and the upcoming PS4 Sega Genesis Classics release will be limited in any way numbers-wise, right?
If they make a Sonic Mania 2, I'd love the bonus stages to be this game. Or at least a take on it, though I doubt modders have dug into this game the same way they have with the Mega Drive games.

Stealth has gone back to work on his engine, and multiple people working on the game have posted on Twitter that they're looking for work again. Guess we'll hear more soon.

Good. If there's anything that needs patching they can fix it before putting it on disc.
The Switch itself updated to 5.0.2 when I tried to launch Sonic, but Sonic is still on 1.03.
I just clicked it & the first thing they're focusing on there's now a big ring they can't reach in Hydrocity Act 1 or something?
Also I'm hearing there's cutscene skipping now?

Check the earlier parts of his stream today. I've seen new menus, options, and a revamped boss.
I got the update(PS4). Won't play it though. Will wait for the real Plus update.

Can someone post a link to this revamped boss? I liked the final phase of that fight way more then the middle phase so I hope they didn't cut it completely :\

Did they at least fix that awful section where you have to bounce silver sonic's up at metal? Or did they leave that in?
