Install base dosent matter much at big numbers of console sales... Ps3 gen had 80+mil install base yet no exclusive of either Ms or Sony nor multiplat sold 20mil on individual consoles(multiplats sold that on both platforms combined). Mario won't be beaten it's switch's '''must have". But God of war is bound to do phenomenal numbers.

The whole score system is kind of useless, at the end of the day.
All that matters is: Do you recommend it or not? And why?
Numbers imply a certain quantifiable quality. People will naturally assume a 10/10 is better than a 7/10, and blaming them for assuming that is ridiculous.
People will never assume one recommended game is necessarily better than the other because the author is in a rough period of their life and would rather play colorful stuff at the moment.
Part of the blame falls on people for just looking at the scores, sure, but a score is there in the first place as a way to summarize their experience in a quantifiable indicator of quality. It's not just a random number they put there for some reason. There are even sites where other members of the team will decide the score based on the text their coworker wrote, because they want it to feel consistent, they want the review to sell you the idea that X game is a 9/10, instead of it just being an arbitrary number the reviewer felt comfortable using.

For me Breathe of the Wild is a must play,but I would rate it as 9/10 personally. People get too obsessed over a some numbers. Some 10/10 from some people mean essential,which is translated to 9/10 by some other people etc. As long as the game is above the 85 zone,it's a must play imo whether it's 85 or 90 or 95,especially if you are a fan of the game. Dark Souls 1 which is arguably the best in the series has the lowest metacritic score of the franchise. So it's the consesus that counts and this isn't gonna change by the GoW falling to 94,climbing to 96 or whatever the heck happens
The hit feedback in general looks really tight and hard-hitting in this game. Also as a kickboxing guy, I'm totally into that outrageous front kick.
Context matters though. Numbers in review scores have no numerical value, they aren't quantifying something objective or concrete. They aren't test scores. They're labels, shorthand for non-numerical rubrics. Similar to how a researcher might label Yes and No as 1 and 2 so he can input the responses.
A 10 from IGN means "Masterpiece: Simply put, this is our highest recommendation. There's no such thing as a truly perfect game, but those that earn a Masterpiece label from IGN come as close as we could reasonably hope for"
Since the original GOW, for me, SSM is the greatest game studio there is. Thanks for all your hard works. You guys are a bunch of obsessive perfectionist and it shows in every single aspect of your games. I want you guys to know that we see and notice all the blood, sweat, tears and love you guys put in your works. Keep up the awe inspiring work. Cheers aaaaall the way from Iran :)

Guys, the New York Daily review has a pressy massive game mechanic spoiler in the first half. It's something HUGE.
So since one never gets this opportunity:
I'm eating so much crow in regards to your game right now that I went from 'long time fan doesn't like Dadtos' to 'sweating bullets trying to get my hands on PS4Pro GoW bundle fuck yeah arghghgh gimme HARD MODE'. I have a strong feeling there'll be a lot of us.

I don't trust ANYONE. Reviewers are thinking "how is that a spoiler?", but you know what? I want to go in fresh like you had the chance to. To discover it for myself like you did. Thats why I am only looking at my youtube subs, staying off reddit, and not reading super new into this thread. I've seen a couple mod edits already.
Right, but there is the bigger context we're all part of. And under no circumstance a 10/10 score indicates a game that's anything less than a masterpiece. There's an established language that you don't get to just compeltely ignore and still participate in the same aggregators as people who respect it.

Did you by chance have anything to do with the badass physics-based particle effects when enemies are killed/ripped apart? Seeing those effects in the previews put a huge grin on my face. :D

Yeah, wouldn't you agree that the movie is still mostly enjoyable today because of the quality of the acting though even with all the context and changes in perspectives? That's my point, quality should have some place in critiquing things.
