Aren't Borderlinx good?

I'm currently in the process of getting a book shipped by them and so far it's quite a hassle. First they needed a few days after the tracking shows they received the package to actually tell me that they have it. Then their estimated value is completely wrong and I know for a fact the correct one was on the package (actual is $40, they listed it as $100, and it's important to get this right because you have to pay import tax in advance), they listed the contents incorrectly (listed as video game, when it's actually a book, again, big difference, because we pay $9.5 tax on books and 22% on everything else, so they'd charge me more than double). After chatting with customer service on Thursday they said they'll fix it, still hasn't happened. I mean, I expect I'll get it without a problem, but it takes a lot more effort to get there than it should have.

That's my first time using borderlinx, I always ordered stuff through friends. I went this route because it's a heavier piece and borderlinx has really good shipping contracts.

I used Borderlinx to get the US SNES Mini to Europe and it went fine, except they got the value of the parcel wrong so I had to send them my Amazon receipt so they could change the value (big deal because you end up paying way more import taxes otherwise). It arrived a little bit dented on one side but that's because of how Amazon packaged it... Seriously, I now get why everyone complains about Amazon US packaging. Amazon UK, DE and especially the godlike JP ship their stuff so much better.

Amazon always have this issue with PS4 Games, random games go out of oos a month or two before release and pops up a couple of days before release. Yakuza 6 had the same issue. It happened to Digimon CS HM & Monster Hunter World

God of War price is a joke. Usually Sony exclusives like this can be had for £35-£40 at launch. Prices have creeped up.

The time has finally arrived, where shall I order God of War from for early delivery, TGC where I have points or SimplyGames?

The Game Collection but do it quickly mate because prices are creeping up around the hype. SimplyGames shamefully rose up the amount to £54.85, canceled my order because of this last-minute hike.

So after 11 business days, Gameseek still haven't sent me my £21.00 Lost Sphear (not that I was really expecting it lol) & despite numerous emails, the answer is still "it's coming from another warehouse", which is presumably located in Outer Mongolia, using carrier pigeons as a shipping method. So what should I do?

A) Contact Gameseek once more asking for immediate dispatch or else I will contact PayPal direct.
B) Contact Gameseek & ask for a refund as it's only a tenner saving.
C) Keep on waiting.

Thanks. :)

I'd go with A. That's the option most likely to get a company to budge. You'll probably get a refund faster by forcing their hand through paypal too.

Do Gameseek ever send out games though? This problem comes up often. I'd cancel and move on. Utterly woeful company.

Well I've sent them an email requesting the game to be sent immediately or I'll contact PayPal, so we shall see what their reply is. (They'll probably close my account lol)

I don't understand how Gameseek can operate like this & get away with it, as it's happening to lots of people.

When they get an order, who at the company is deciding whether to fulfil it or not? So I place my order & 'someone' surely has to look at it & say, yep, not sending that game out. And they know that they're never going to send it out, but they keep on saying it's in our other warehouse. Do they think people really believe it can take over 10 days to get a game from their other warehouse? Surely this is lying to the customer pure & simple?

But then most people must be happy as there are still plenty of positive reviews. :/

Sad news! Apparently, SimplyGames is heading towards liquidation making all the recent price hikes understandable. I did some digging and it seems like the shop, might be in the process of closing down. It's pretty sad to see a brilliant retailer go down like this, used them for several years.

That sucks. Simply have been great for getting games early and at a decent price. A shame to see them go.

Oh wow, I started using Simply in recent times and found then to be great. A real shame if this is the case. Going to cancel a preorder I had since they take the money upfront.

Maybe someone should start a new thread?
Simply Games were always solid, such a shame to see another games retailer go this way.

They don't take the money up front as far as I'm aware. They charge you a couple days before shipping in my experience.

Yeah they were pretty good, but I can imagine they struggled to compete with thin margins.

Yeah margins really have sucked for a long time on videogames in UK. I used to work for an inide retailer concession (Chips) back in PS2 era, I remember when we were going up against £24.99 FIFA in Tesco, which was lower than cost price for us, ah happy memories...

Has anyone ordered from Smyths for delivery before? Just got confirmation my copy of God of War has shipped and wondering if there is any chance it arrives tomorrow?

They do something strange that if it's over a month away from launch they take the money, if it's within that window they wait till dispatch. But I preordered January I believe and money got taken.

I've pre-orderd Metroid Prime 4 on SimplyGames, through Paypal and payment has been processed months ago. I won't get my money back? :/

Yeah, I've been feeling the crunch too, with numbers going down on SavyGamer. Brexit certainly didn't help.
