Major Crimes Commander Victor Joseph instructed his unit to bring "a full uniform and any issued protective equipment (riot gear) with them to work until further notice," WPXI.com reported.

"There is a belief that President Trump will soon move to fire Special Prosecutor Mueller. This would result in a large protest within 24 hours of the firing. The protest would be semi-spontaneous and more than likely happen on short notice," the missive read.

If this truly happens and there are truly protests, I fully expect something to go absolutely 100% wrong and someone dies.

Yeah, as with most spontaneous peotests I expect it mostly to be peacefull but there's undoubtedly going to be anarchist shitheads somewhere who take advantage of the situation.

I don't see large scale riots happening like some people assume. I'm betting there will be large scaled organized protests after the fact. The day of the firing though? I don't see it.

Our mayor put out a statement saying that this action is just precautionary.

I don't think the Pittsburgh Police know anything more than anyone else on this front.

That's been the safe assumption. It's why the Rosenstein alarms were signaling in full force this past Friday.
Trump will need to retreat to his safe space. That said, he's already in Florida so that's plenty safe already.

JUST IN: Just spoke to Mayor Bill Peduto, who confirms Pgh Police are preparing for possible protests. Peduto says the commander's email asking for detectives to bring uniforms & riot gear starting tomorrow, is just precautionary #WTAE

Explain to me why destroying private property helps democracy? I have never understood it and it only makes anyone on the fence about the cause dismiss those taking part. Don't vandalize other people's stuff. Don't impede freedom of movement of citizens. Don't make innocent people feel endangered Plenty of parks to stage a protest. Please be safe.
