do not understand the love travis scott gets around here, or anywhere for that matter. people whine about industry plants yet this guy gets a pass? I might understand if his music wasn't so uninteresting
I personally enjoy Travis because he nails mood & atmosphere. His lyrics are trash, but he has a way with autotune and his production that manages to foster such an evocative atmosphere.do not understand the love travis scott gets around here, or anywhere for that matter. people whine about industry plants yet this guy gets a pass? I'm with you, but I do really like a few of his standouts. Rodeo has 4-5.do not understand the love travis scott gets around here, or anywhere for that matter. people whine about industry plants yet this guy gets a pass? I might understand if his music wasn't so uninteresting
I'm a cynical ol jerk, but this is the exact thing that makes me skeptical about him - he goes from couch surfing in Houston with no material to becoming a 'full formed' hip-hop it-boy who's first project is stacked with industry veterans. I'm glad for anyone who can make a living doing this, but it's weird to me that this goes unquestioned in a genre where bonafides are heavily scrutinized, though I guess that's less to the case these days.I personally enjoy Travis because he nails mood & atmosphere. He actually does have mixtapes pre-Kanye. His wikipedia says he had 5 projects released since 2008, all of which were low-key affairs. There are a couple of questionable moments like how he was just casually spending most of his time in Just Blaze's studio. But, from what I understand, he struggled and then somehow managed to get T.I.'s cosign which led to him getting a placement during the "Cruel Summer" sessions.he goes from couch surfing in Houston with no material to becoming a 'full formed' hip-hop it-boy who's first project is stacked with industry veterans.
I guess that lines up with how I speculate his ascension went - dude has a some local material, gets scouted by labels/artists who can deftly navigate the system and assist in producing his material and projecting an image, and quickly ends up in Kanye's camp. Maybe that colors my enjoyment of his work but I just can't shake the feeling of how 'by committee' if feels. Ironically, given that, Maria I'm Drunk is the only song of his I really likeHe actually does have mixtapes pre-Kanye. But seriously speaking. Scott generally fits my preferred trap sound.
Best i can define it as is that he's on that smooth, halloween shit. And i fucks with it heavy.
... that's a good ass explanation. It's like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas meets the zombie apocalypse
