I see.DosaDaRaja - Sorry man, no one knows of any Chinese vegetarian places. We don't have anyone in our group that's vegetarian.
Damn that lychee smoothie looks good. I could go for one right about now.
Tinder's pretty bad for a nerdy asian dude, just the demographics I guess. That's probably why the asian specific dating sites exist.
OK la~
Seriously though, Mandarin greetings always sound so 'stiff' to me as a Canto speaker.
I've never tried one. I hear East Meet East gets good reviews.are they worth shit?
the only ones i've seen is the big banner ads which buy here that are like NOT YOUR TYPICAL DATING SITE which in all honesty doesn't inspire confidence.
Fuck I wish I continued my Mandarin studies but Japanese is too much fun to stop.
I wanna know the big East Asian languages at least one day (Mando, Korean, Japanese). Got quite a journey ahead of me I guess.
And then you have Arrow, where the characters were all, "He spoke perfect Chinese," while I needed subtitles to understand what the hell he was trying to say.The hubby was cracking up over all of Tzi Ma's lines in The Resident last night. Guess that's what happens when you get a Chinese-American actor and assume they can speak Mandarin.
My mom kept chastising me for not speaking Mandarin, but all she ever did to teach me anything was yell at me to take a shower and turn off the TV in Chinese. I took two years of it to fulfill my college language requirement but it didn't stick well and I couldn't get the pronunciations quite right. I wish I knew it better.
Yeah! I'm also pretty sure my mom used to mix in the language her parents spoke, because later some things I learned didn't quite add up. Or, it was a mainland vs. Taiwan issue.ME TOO! Like... all of that.
Plus, my parents speak Taiwan accented Mandarin and my college professors were from mainland. So, it was kinda different.
I have trouble talking to my mom sometimes because her English is meh and my Chinese is meh. :(
It resembles Hokkien/Taiwanese so I can understand a bit of it.Anyone speak Teochew?
Tfw u meet other Chinese and they ask if you speak Cantonese or Mandarin.

I went grocery shopping and I was walking up to the strawberries when a white lady there asked me if I was there to talk to my mom (some other random lady also at the strawberries).
Bitch what.
Almost none. It's mostly just systemic stuff that's subtle and doesn't really play into daily life.Question to my American Asians:
How much racism do you encounter as an Asian living on America on a daily basis? Not much? Alot?
Also is your friend circle mostly Asian (like me here in Aus) or do you branch out alot?
All the goddamn time. A lot of it is little things and sometimes its getting nudged by an old white lady in a shopping cart while I'm holding one of my kids or the one time my white coworker assumed I was Korean(I'm Chinese), which is even more odd because we work in HR. Then comes being treated worse by people in general.Question to my American Asians:

Rarely anything blatant. I'm half white though, so I can probably pass most of the time unless someone is really looking. Occasionally stuff that makes me wonder.Question to my American Asians:

AYCE Korean BBQ isn't very popular in NorCal. There are a few places but they do tend to get crowded by long wait times because there are so few places.
Instead we have a ton of AYCE hot pot places.
I did it for all of the other genetic stuff rather than ancestry. I'm really not tied down to my heritage.I'm tempted to do 23andme, but I just figure I'm going to get a report back that says I'm 100% Chinese lol
Fly to the UK I'll treat you. As well as the best Thai food in the West.

Anyone here with Chinese heritage know about this thing? This girl was telling me about how there was this expression about a boyfriend or girlfriend giving their partner "green hair" -- something to do with cheating.
She sais it's why people don't dye their hair completely green but I think she made it up.
Green hair?
I've always heard it as "she gave him a green hat" as being a euphemism for she's cheating on him.
