Really loved the first episode, can't think of anything negative other than it ending and having to wait for the next episode. Definitely needed this since Marcella S2 just ended

I don't know why we are suddenly getting so many spy thrillers (is it partly because of Russia / Trump?) but I love it. Gonna watch this.

My partner and I watched this last night and instantly fell in love. Sandra Oh as ever is delightful. That Vulture interview with her is a great read as well. Fantastic, thoughtful questions, and because Oh is so charismatic, it's hard not to choke up when you read her reaction to being offered the titular role. Also, she geeked out over the Neapolitan Novels!

The first episode was great. I find the title really strange at this point though, as I'm wondering how it will fit as the show goes on. Killing Eve....presumably this wouldn't be that hard to do? If so is that actually going to be a goal of Villanelle's? So far Villanelle seems a better title.
The original books were named after Villanelle, actually.

I remember listening to Sandra Oh on the Doug Loves Movies podcast during the infamous episode, she came across as a really nice person.

Just finished watching the pilot and enjoyed it. I liked the fact it was really funny.

New episode tonight!

I'll Deal With Him Later

In the aftermath of her recent assignment, Villanelle is ordered to take a break. Never one to do as she's told, she goes ahead with her next mission regardless. Meanwhile, Eve is given a dream opportunity to join a secret MI6 unit tracking Villanelle.

I like the relationship between Villanelle and her handler. Even he is giving her a pause on all the killing, she is scarily good at it. Just seeing how she is going to pull off the missions is fun, her watching the life leave from her victim's bodies is creepy.

Loved the moment of recognition she had at the end there concerning Eve.

Suspicious things that Bill (Eve's former boss has done)
Lied to Eve about the CCTV - Told her that is was a male
Tried very hard to dissuade Eve from her "single killer" theory in the first meeting at the MI6 office.
Disappeared mid-meeting for chocolate.
Showed up unannounced in the middle of the night at the office

Tie that in with the fact that Villanelle's handler, and Bill's opposite was able to give out Eve's name so quickly after the case started makes me very suspicious.

And this show is fantastic.

Aww. Did they really have to kill Sebastian so soon? He was real cute.
At least hacker dude does it for me as well.

Also, the show is still bloody amazing.
Also, also. I added this Vanity Fair interview with Jodie Comer to the OT, it's a good one:
The first time Jodie Comer met Phoebe Waller-Bridge wasn't when she auditioned for a role on her BBC America show Killing Eve, but rather months before, at a party for the BAFTAs. It was hours into the night—the glamour was coming undone, the booze was flowing, and Comer and Waller-Bridge were both drunk and making frothy party chatter.

"I didn't know nottin' about Killing Eve," Comer recalls in her thick Liverpudlian accent. "Then my audition came along and I was like"—her voice drops into a dramatic whisper—"Oh my God, I was so drunk that night. This is really awkward."

Also, also, also. I would be remiss to not mention the duo of articles (from two of my favourite writers) on the duo of assassin-themed shows: Welcome To The Golden Age Of Shows About Assassins - Uproxx, Brian Grubb; Small screen hits: why we're so fascinated with contract killers - The Guardian, Charles Bramesco.
Neither of which went with my totally brilliant and amazing observation that it is pretty damn funny that we get this uptick of assassin themed shows a year into the Trump presidency.

I'm loving all the little tics these characters have, it's some good detail. And Comer's expressions of fascination as she watches her prey is so good.

It's nice that this and Barry have brought some enthusiasm into the assassin life!

Comer's expressions of fascination as she watches her prey is so good.

Her face look like a doll's face when she's watching the life drain out of her victims - empty, glassy eyes with a weird smile. Creepy.

She has so much personality though - that little "bye bye" with the dead hand was hilariously macabre.

I like this show so far despite Sandra. I think she's miscast here, her acting is hit and miss. Also, the marketing, flyers, posters, trailers were so cringey and edgy that I almost didn't give the show a chance. Comer is amazing. Despite making all guys stupid, it doesn't feel forced like ghostbusters. I dig it.

Ghostbusters 2016 did a number on people for whatever reason. Not that it makes any more sense since there haven't been any outright dumb duides in the show. My beloved Sebastian (RIP, gone too soon) was at worst naïve.

The only one that's a bit of a dumb dumb is Eve's former boss - the one who made up the lie about the tape (Darren Boyd). All the other guys seem to be pretty competent?

I don't think all the guys are stupid. The husband seems pretty competent. Are you thinking there's misandry here? Or at least do you think Ghostbusters 2018 was misandrist?

Bill, noooo! ;_;

Man, that joke he made when talking with his baby is that much harsher now.

At least now we know he's not the mole.

I'm guessing computer guy since this case had a hacking angle.

Delicate features
Sort of cat like eyes
That are completly inaccessible

Bill will be missed.

I hope Eve still can give good quips and not turn into Punished Eve.

I still love the show, but the tone felt off when Bill died. The show thus far treats death as such a joke that when a character we care about dies I just didn't think it was balanced well. I sort of think it would've worked better if Eve hadn't witnessed it.

Aaaaw. First they kill my beloved Sebastian (RIP, gone too soon) and now Bill? ;_;
Okay for a more serious take, I do love what they did with his character and his portrayal by David Haig came across as very compassionate (I did not pick up the sketchy/suspicious vibes some of you did). Which is especially impressive since I've been nothing but annoyed by David Haig in other TV shows (thought he was extremely out of place in The Thick of It). The exchange:
"I lived here for eight years"
"-And?"
"I said yes to everything for five of them"
Was just a delight (then again most of the dialogue in the show is terrific).

edit: I had missed this titbit about the ratings on BBCA:

Oh fuck, not Bill :(

David Haig had wonderful chemistry with Sandra Oh and his character will be missed greatly. I loved his and Eve's interactions throughout the episode.

Weird, I was thinking to myself earlier how well the show manages to balance the serious deaths (Bill and the people at the hospital) with the more "fun" deaths of the assassination targets.

Man, fuck this show.

I mean, it's great, and I can't wait to watch the next episode but fuck that shit. Bill was a great character that will be missed.

Yeah, I did not expect that to happen this early in the series. Bill was funny and had great chemistry with Eve, although it gives her extra motivation now.

Husband can't be too happy about the turn of events, considering he already seemed to be acting funny and now her former boss/mentor winds up dead.

Villanelle doing Eve cosplay with that woman was pretty great. I love how she gives no f**ks about what her handler tells her. He's like scolding a child for having their hand in the cookie jar, only with her it's about killing people.

It felt dissonant to me. This was the first death we are really meant to care about, so I want to hate Eve but it's kind of hard to. She's still likeable and charming in in her psychopathy, and the way she smiled at Bill was absurd.

Her mouse turning into cat shift was really well done. Plus I think it's her first kill (I'm guessing he doesn't survive it) where she doesn't watch their eyes I believe.

Cute show with a premise that asks for too much suspension of disbelieve. They mention CCTV footage every single episode but nothing is said about footage from the hospital? BS. No way that place wasn't covered. They don't even excuse it away.
If they want corroboration the killings are by the same person then they have plenty of finger-prints on the victims to match.

And ofc, Bill ought to have detained her at the train station on the spot. I bet their won't be CCTV footage at this central station right.

BBC America has posted some neat BTS features:

A look at Villanelle stabbing the dude right in the fucking eye:

A look at the locations:

The New Yorker weighs in: Why "Killing Eve" Is Not the Show It First Appeared to Be
"Killing Eve" achieves its pathos by exploiting and subverting various tropes of the thriller, and likewise catches a surprising tone, toggling between Eve's pedestrian anxieties and her action-hero fears.
The triumph of Waller-Bridge's style is in its reconciliation of the outlandish and the intimate. The Jason Bourne-style escapism of the bare premise, inflected by the assertively odd tone, yields fresh depictions of fear and grief. Critics and fans have noted that Villanelle, significantly, does not often act as a temptress in the course of the plot. Rather than seducing and betraying, she tends to prefer infiltrating and annihilating. She is instead seductive in her confidence and her competence, a temptress with an apple that tastes of unexpected knowledge.

New episode tonight!

Sorry Baby

Intel from Berlin points to the existence of a mole, prompting Eve to undertake her first surveillance operation. Meanwhile, Villanelle is sent to England to eliminate a member of British Intelligence.

I've been waiting for articles like these since forever:

Vogue: Killing Eve Is the Most Fashionable Show on TV
High fashion and television don't have the best relationship. The characters on most TV shows are either in period costume or fantasy dress, à la Westworld and The Handmaid's Tale, or in hard-to-place contemporary clothing that is often either rented or custom-made. Rarely do you see a character whirling through Paris in a shocking pink Molly Goddard dress and Balenciaga boots but that's exactly what happened on BBC America's Killing Eve.
What makes De Gaye's costume design on Killing Eve so remarkable is that she's not only finding innovative ways to include contemporary luxury items on a TV series but has also redefined the look of an international assassin story.

The Cut: How to Dress Like TV's Chicest Assassin
If you're a fan of psychopathic female assassins, but also enjoy a good Prada or Burberry runway, then Killing Eve is the show for you.
...
Sneak a peek at the best fashion on Killing Eve so far below, paired with similar styles recommended by our fashion editors.

Villanelle is now a fashion icon.

Phew, that was intense.

Totally saw Nadia's death coming.
That was just brutal, especially giving her hope for a brighter future before backing up over her.

Kind of expecting Eve to wind up getting Frank, Elena, or possibly both killed next time while actually getting out to talk to Villanelle.
