Sad news! Apparently, SimplyGames is heading towards liquidation making all the recent price hikes understandable. I did some digging and it seems like the shop, might be in the process of closing down. It's pretty sad to see a brilliant retailer go down like this, used them for several years.

I think you may be wrong here... or everything is mega confusing? I looked up the Company Number... and Simply Games is owned by Boss Distribution Limited, who seem to be fine.

Seriously, and I've just sent PayPal an Email saying SimplyGames are heading towards liquidation and please give me a refund. :S

Good shout! I did some research and believe that SimplyGames are transitioning toBoss Deals, and will most likely cease trading under the original name. You can even see links on the current website leading towards Boss Deals.

I contacted them and they said:

"We can confirm that Simply Games Limited did go into liquidation however the website Simplygames.com is now owned and operated by Boss Distribution Limited. Quite simply put the company is now under new management but the day to day operation is still run by the same team so your experience with us will not change in any way."

So the brief 5 minute panic is over.

Good news.

Hopefully that doesn't mean the store will be worse under new management!

Well the average prices have seemed to have gone up this year, but to be honest, I doubt they could have survived their margins much longer. Right now, unless I've been itching to get a game early, I've found games cheaper elsewhere especially with Smyths in store pick up deals.

They don't get saved for the new owners to run things the exact same way that caused it.

Something will change, probably starting with prices.

I was already aware of that, but, it's just one game and most companies put up their prices just before launch.

We'll see how it pans out long term I guess.

I can't say I've used them this year, truth be told. The pre-orders I have had delivered this year have either been Amazon due to them being old ones back from when discount codes did work on pre-orders, or there has been one or two from base. As for God of War, I decided to skip it.

Obviously.

I meant it more along the lines that they don't become a shop that no one wants to purchase from (like gameseek lol ).

What do you guys think of the Azure Striker Double Pack for Switch? I can get it at 25€ at Play-Asia. I want something to scratch the 2D pixel art side scrolling action itch, but I'm unsure if I should go for Gunvolt or wait for Dragon: Marked for Death...
If you're in Italy (guessing from the avatar), ebay has a promo code to save €10 on every game over €20.
Should be able to get GT for €25.
I'm Portuguese, so I can only make sense of half of what I read in Italian, what are the general conditions for this? Do you need an Italian address in order to apply the discount?

Least we still have The Game Collection :)

Conditions only say it's "available to certain users of ebay.it over 18 years of age".

Try looking for this thing. If you see it it should be available for you

FYI, if you see a promo for a specific regional Ebay site, chances are very likely that they won't allow people from outside said region to take advantage of the deal. At least I've personally not seen an exception to date.

Crosspost from the God of War OT that is relevant for German ERA:

Sooooo, I'm getting God of War for 48 € tomorrow and I fucking love that fact.

How? Well, Real has a one-time use coupon in every current brochure that grants 20 % off of ALL console games and it's valid until the 21st.

I went to my local real today and while they won't break the street date they will sell it for 60 € tomorrow and the coupon is valid, so that means God of War for 48 € instead of the regular 65 to 70 €. Just a tip for german ERA.

Here's the PDF with the brochure, although they only accept originals, but those brochures usually are on display at the entrance, so you should be good to go.

Finally cancelled my Gameseek order that I'd been waiting 12 business days for. Funny how my refund came through within 50 minutes of me asking for it. They were very kind & notified me that I could always try ordering the game again...costing me £13.00 more than what I'd originally paid...

Otto.de prepared my GoW package yesterday morning, but still hasn't shipped it, according to the tracking link.

Has anyone else here an issue with his GoW delivery from Otto.de?

My Limited Edition of GoW from GAME shipped yesterday, but the postie came empty handed.
Anybody else with a similar issue? I'm seriously considering buying the digital version now, so I can start playing...

Well, it is a waste of money for sure...but I actually stayed home today just so I could play and I have a busy week next week...so I'd like to talk advantage of the weekend as much as possible.

Instead of buying digital just go the shop and buy a physical copy? At least then you can sell one of them on. If you get digital you won't be able to sell it.

Yep, was planning to do that...but eventually postie came back, asked me if I was waiting for GoW and handed me the game. Told me he was gonna pick up his own copy :)

I had a quick look into the SimplyGames business (they're a good site, lots of Eurogamer readers use them) and spoke to the liquidator of the old company. Essentially there's nothing to see, it's a shuffle behind the scenes, business as usual.

Just in case anyone was worried about outstanding orders/pre-orders!

Wow, wasn't expecting this pop-in but thanks for the clarification.

Well, that escalated quickly. My local real wants 75 Euro for the game. Even 20% don't save that deal.

Weird it's 60€ in the brochure. I bought the LE for 64€ with the voucher here.

Yeah, I was told that the price gets reduced to 60 on checkout. They put the 75 € sticker on there because it will raise to that price in the coming weeks. And yeah, it was the case. I got the Day One Edition for 48 €

The discount code can be used outside Italy if you change your registration address to Italy.

Just grabbed a GOW digital code for 35€. Not too shabby.
Registration address? You mean, on the PS Store? Wondering how to get in on this, since my account is based on Portugal.

Edit: Reading a bit more carefully this time, seems like you are referring to the eBay address. Still would appreciate some clarification on the matter :^)
