Forgive me thread for I have double posted

And Bill thinks kids call social services on their parents all of the time. I've read many abuse reports and social services are pretty good at sniffing out the bullshit ones (when properly funded). Peterson says that social services isn't a great way of preventing abuse, which I will agree with. The purpose of social services is to protect children once abuse starts happening. It's inherently reactive because if they were proactive, they'd be all up in your business 24/7 which I know for sure Peterson wouldn't like.

Peterson thinks that the best way to prevent abuse is for the parent to exercise their right of authority over the child. Again, this is basic advice that most people already do and don't need to be told. Bill and Peterson are being fooled by overplayed and hyperbolic bullshit. But parents not exercising their authority is not the issue with child abuse. It's parents abusing their authority by hitting their kids or sexually abusing them. And most of the time, like 4 out of 5 times, it's a family member like an older sibling or aunt/uncle.

Well, here's the post-show

As someone that doesn't follow Peterson I couldn't help but wonder why anyone would follow him. He's stumbling over words and asking the same question over and over again. It's really bizarre to be honest. Anyway, both Alex and Bill to a degree go in on him at some point.

Ugh, Bill was as useless as I thought. Thank god for Alex DeWitt <3

User warned: Trolling.
he was great. Love how triggered Alex got when he dared to suggest that as a new parent she might have a tough time being authoritative with her child. He literally said nothing controversial at all but she was so threatened by his suggestion. Quite entertaining. She really is awful every time I see her on here.

yeah he was pretty comical. His sad 15 minutes is nearing an end thankfully

Is that why the lawyer who originally represented all the women for those NDAs is now cooperating with authorities?

Tell you what how about you bet something substantial on whether or not Avenatti is done?

I'm willing to bet $500 pay pal that before Avenatti is done we will see a nullified NDA revealed involving a woman that Trump sexually assaulted.

You gonna call that or fold?

I'd be annoyed too if someone was being patronizing like that.

I'm actually surprised that you used her first name, his subreddit simply refers to her as "bitch", "special snowflake", "spoiled brat" or "the female". You should probably remedy this before they question your crustacean credentials.

Yeah, talk about mansplaining. Peterson is profoundly ignorant and Maher just let him ramble on and on. I honestly don't know why I keep watching Real Time. Just a bad habit I can't break I guess.

It's like telling a parent to feed and bathe their kids if they want their kids to be healthy and clean. Peterson is Professor Obvious.

I know why I try, but post milo and this fucking tool I don't care too.

He says something to effect that the left values identity politics more than the right. WTF is he smoking. Evangelical voters have been the biggest identity voters since I was born and that's about to reach 40 year soon. The same for ignoring trump and all the bullshit he did to get elected.

There are not enough gifs to mock him or his ilk.

lol A lot of people in that thread are telling him to "agree to disagree". That works online, but does that really work in marriage? It's just kicking the can down the road.

Really depends on how serious the issue is.
If that's part of your core belief then I guess it's dead.
Otherwise just drop the issue, mariage is more important than squabbling about lobsters.

I mean arguing about whether or not eggshell white goes better with a certain furniture set would be something to agree to disagree on, but if I married someone who started some MRA bullshit and couldn't be convinced otherwise, there would be some irreconcilable differences.

I would imagine you(general you) would know about that before going to the altar...
I'm not that upfront about my beliefs but If that was a point of contention either we would find a way to make it work because it's THAT important or yeah drop it like a ton of bricks.
If you're going long term, it's part of the way to make it work.

I think in this dude's case, he started falling to the other side during the marriage after discovering Peterson. I don't know, I just think that if it's that important to her, agreeing to disagree is just ignoring the problem and it's going to make it worse. I should send him a gift card to Red Lobster, though.

Man in a thread full of people performing dumb mental gymnastics to defend this moron you manage to come up with something equally dumb to attack him. Bravo, and bonus points for the random ellipsis.

Peterson on Maher was hilarious in a sense. Everyone else on the show last night were so much better at articulating their thoughts. Distilled down, he said very little.

Peterson seemed like a child at the adult's table playing his concern trolling games but they saw right through him and shut him down.

The introduction part with just him and Bill was pretty enjoyable tho.

I had a feeling Alex knew who Jordan was, hence why she was rather aggressive in the psychoanalyzing he did.

I mean, Jordan openly talked about tossing a child in his own fucking book. You're gonna take child rearing advice from him?

...Did the official YouTube upload of Peterson's segment cut out the end where he made himself look stupid toward Alex?

I wonder why they'd do that...

There was a look she gave that she knew what he was sayin was bullshit.

I imagine it was because Peterson fell right into ideology, and it was quite clear he was talking at her, and not to her.

The problem with our friend Jordan here is that for someone who claims to be anti-identity politics, he sure seems caught in an image of identity politics. What makes this significantly worse for someone like Lobster Man is that unlike most right-leaning fools who pull this game, he's at least aware of academic concepts and themes that make it problematic, but refuses to adhere to them. I know I keep saying that, but to know someone in academia is being this fraudulent absolutely gets under my skin. He's an academic conservative, so he takes all the good stuff that backs his narrative and plays cognitive dissonance to everything else. I wish someone grilled him on climate change, as I believe someone used those words on the show, and Peterson thinks it's absolutely a non-issue. Let that point sink in: what's a non-issue to him is argued by the fuckin' Pentagon as one of the two central factors for social destabilization and potential uprisings. And he's an intellectual?

His deceptive gimmick, shockingly, didn't show up too much aside from talking to Alex and maybe his attempt at talking about political disarray in America -- which he likely believes is the fault of a "left that abandoned the worker class" and the mystical Postmodern Cultural Marxists, but somehow not the adoption of neoliberal concepts which create a truth vs feeling dynamic -- but man, if it did, I think people would have seen him as the fraud he is.

Bill also showed he doesn't vet his guests. Agreeing with everything Peterson has said? Really? Did he not look up Peterson's nonsense on religion and how it bathes his Maps of Meaning concept salad?

Maher let Milo onto his show. That should tell you all you need to know about his choice pertaining to guests, specifically with his lack of vetting.

He at least admitted prior to him being on the show that he invited "that Milo guy", likely showing he only lined him up because of the fame he was getting.

Compare that to how Maher introduces Peterson, as if they're truly like-minded individuals.

I'd almost guarantee that Maher knows nothing about Peterson beyond what he discussed in the show. He doesn't really vet guests at all, he has 5 on every week and does a bunch of other shit besides the show.

I've only read through a few pages here, but honestly I feel kinda bad for the guy. He's a walking contradiction. I feel like he fell into the transgender discussion by accident but his hard-headedness prevented him from backing the hell out. I think part of him is aware of the damage he's incurring, but he seems too self-involved and probably separates himself from it. I've watched a couple pieces of some unrelated lectures and they're actually pretty interesting.

I love Bill Maher's show.

But it's getting tiring to see him bring on these controversial figures like Milo or Jordan Peterson, only to yell "FREE SPEECH FUCK YEAH" (cums on himself) without challenging them on what makes them controversial.

You love the 1st so much, use it.

What's kinda crazy is for someone who is all "free speech" he was very much against what happened to Laura Ingraham.

Bill's real bad on optics. Most change in America never happens because of morals or virtues, but because of economic pushes. Civil rights made a huge push when economic changes became part of the movement, for example.

He has to do that because whenever he has liberals on and talks about it they're quick to point out that he's wrong. He once had Bill Burr on and seemed rather excited about the prospect going back and forth about how political correctness was ruining problem. The one problem with his idea was that Burr doesn't feel that way and told him that he's just making a big deal out of nothing. It left Maher frustrated. And recently he defended Ingraham and everyone on the panel pointed out why he was wrong, which again left him frustrated. So these controversial figures are the only ones he can have on that'll really take his side on that issue because they also don't understand how the first amendment works.

He isn't prisoner, he's a profiteer. Dude makes bank off of the controversy, he laughed about it on Joe Rogan and called it "monetizing the Left".
