Forgive me thread for I have double posted
And Bill thinks kids call social services on their parents all of the time. I've read many abuse reports and social services are pretty good at sniffing out the bullshit ones (when properly funded). Peterson says that social services isn't a great way of preventing abuse, which I will agree with. The purpose of social services is to protect children once abuse starts happening. It's inherently reactive because if they were proactive, they'd be all up in your business 24/7 which I know for sure Peterson wouldn't like.
Peterson thinks that the best way to prevent abuse is for the parent to exercise their right of authority over the child. Again, this is basic advice that most people already do and don't need to be told. Bill and Peterson are being fooled by overplayed and hyperbolic bullshit. But parents not exercising their authority is not the issue with child abuse. It's parents abusing their authority by hitting their kids or sexually abusing them. And most of the time, like 4 out of 5 times, it's a family member like an older sibling or aunt/uncle.
