So they're auto-generated, non-story quests? Are they the same for every player or just generated locally?
They absolutely are non-story quest, don't worry about them. Their main appeal is XP and a decent chance of a good item, but they're not worth the struggle of a zone well above your level. I'm not sure if everyone gets the same quest, but I'd guess we don't.

Could anyone tell me how close to the end of the main story I am?

BTW, who the hell is this? I dont remember hearing that name at any point before, but I could have forgotten since this game throws characters at you and then dumps them ever 5 minutes or so.

Just passed the 100 hour mark. Barely even started the main quest in Curse of the Pharaohs. Game just keeps giving.

Discovery Tour is really cool as well, and interesting stuff.

So I just finished the main story....it just kinda ended, very anticlimactic. All the story beats were resolved, but it was just...I don't know. I have portions of the map still black!
I still liked it. The story even went further than I thought with the killing of Ceaser, but we never spent much time with him only that he was the first Father of Understanding? Aya and Bayek breaking up was sad to see but the birth of the brotherhood was really cool, especially with how they got their emblem. Aya renaming herself Amunet was great too, a way to keep with the lore regarding that statue in AC2 of the assassin who killed Cleopatra. Hopefully we see that in a sequel.

Really disappointed that we didn't really play as an official member of the brotherhood, but I guess that's what the DLC is for. Also sad that the modern day portion was just dropped, I actually got interested with the return of Desmond's dad.
On to the DLC!

I am finally getting back to this game. Man, it really is great. I'm sure part of it is that I haven't really ever spent more than a few minutes on an AC game before, so the "same old AC things" don't bother me.

I spent last night just doing side quests, and I enjoyed them all.

I finished the 2nd DLC... I think?

Unless I'm missing a final quest or something, it just seemed to end on a whimper without a concrete ending.
Just kinda like' "The curse is lifted, KTHXBAI!"
Felt unfinished.

Finished the main story today... game was okay.

Loads of meaningless side quests where absolutely nothing eventful happens.

I think I've finished almost everything the game has to offer (outwith DLC):

The only things I can see left to do is:

- One more elephant to kill
- A couple of papyrus puzzles to finish
- Gladiator stuff, which I may not even bother with.

Other than that, I've completed every thing on the map.

Was considering buying the season pass but I don't want to assassinate my wallet. 32 quid, are they having a fucking giraffe?

Just finished the main story last night. 85 hours total. Did all the side quests, a huge chunk of the optional stuff and think I'll pass on the dlc for now.

Overall, amazing game. Gorgeous all around, Combat felt great, the stealth was solid and worked well, and the side quests were interesting. I really like the changes they have made and as a jaded AC fan this really got me back into the series. I can't wait to see what they do next.

Is it just me, or do enchanted bows absolutely kill the frame rate on a Pro from the fill rate on their particles when you aim?

I swear the frame rate drops to like 15 fps when I draw back my fire predator bow. It really sucks, wish you could disable the fx on them.

I wrapped up the main story at level 34. Game is showing 70% completion and I dont feel an itch to continue playing right now.

Is there anything that is a must see/do? I dont feel like grinding quests to level up unless something really really cool is waiting. Feel free to spoil.

Finished the second DLC. For the most part, very impressive. Sort of feels like they ran out of money or time though.

I assumed my game glitched and missed a cinematic until I watched a YouTube video. You go straight from a dark tomb to the final boss fight without anything in between. Then after you finish the boss you run through this beautiful complex large area and are just guided back to the entrance? Bizarre.

Yeah its like...
you finish the DLC even before you enter the last after-life area. After you kill zombie King Tut, then you get to wander around his after-life area, the 4th, and pick up up just one or two missions side missions there, but then that's it. It's just a weird, awkward way to end the DLC.

Had this one in the backlog since black friday, RL kept getting in the way... but finally getting around to it. Damn this game is spectacular so far (guessing I'm a probably more than halfway at this point onto the
Lizard
).

I have a blast just running around hunting and sightseeing as I go. And Senu was an ingenious inclusion. Very much looking forward to the rest, but also taking my time to enjoy the rest of the journey.

So I'm at max level (40), but the Trial of Sobek quest suggests level 43 for the fight. I guess it's doable but it kinda takes forever with the damage I'm doing currently.

I mean sure, this arbitrary difficulty scaling has been evident through the whole game but surely this isn't intended?

Edit: Just beat him twice, unfortunately you don't get any reward for the second time, despite the quest saying so. Well, that's a waste of 30 minutes!
The max level gets raised to 45 in the first DLC and 55 in the second DLC. I'm guessing they kept the trial of the Gods at 43 so they're still doable by someone who doesn't have the DLC, but gently nudging someone towards buying the DLC to increase their max level.

Can't get over how good this game is. The open world is the best I have ever seen. Huge epic scope with beautiful and varied locations. This is the size of world I hoped Horizon Zero Dawn would have.

I think the term "epic" nails it. Never felt a world that epic to me in a videogame. The best thing is how good it plays and how fun movement/combat/archery is.

It's one of the reasons the Discovery Tour mode is so amazing. If they hadn't built a compelling world, no one would care about such a mode (walk around with no violence and look at pictures of art? Hard pass, right?). But being able to engage in actual historical tourism in a fully-realized world? It's incredible. I'd say it may well be the most fully-realized open world in a videogame ever (Witcher 3 is pretty damn good as well, admittedly).

Gladiator Arena in Cyrene is a test of patience for me. At least horde mode is.

92 hours later, that's Assassins Creed Origins plus both DLCs done -- and I didn't even 100% it, "just" all the quests. Onto new adventures!

The combat in God of War really does feel like a much better version of what Origins was going for outside of all the different weapons.

Im 8 hours in and level 19. Should be called souless busywork the game. Theres like nothing here to be invested or excited about. Ive started skipping sidequest cutscenes cause nothing of value or entertainment is said in them. And they all result in just going into an outpost and killing the captain or stealing a scroll. Can i have one scripted mission where something/anything cool happens? The last bodyguard side quest has been the only mission where i got some mild pleasure out of it because of the silly character interaction.

Thats exactly how i feel about it after 24 hours, i just dont care at all about any of the side missions, im skipping the dialogue as honestly the writing and voice work for side characters is absolutely awful.

im enjoying the main story though, world feels nice but i miss the massive amounts of NPC in one area like older assasins creed games.

I did finish the game after 25+ hours. My opinion didnt change. In fact. Id say this is the worst game in the series. Worst then the first game which felt like a unfinished prototype and Unity with its frustrating performance and jank. 11 years of foundation, 3 years of development, a 1000 people, and a 100 million dollar budget led to the most by the numbers, focus tested, busy work game ive ever played.

Theres no mission design at all. Nothing creative, scripted, or out of the box beyond one dream sequence. The first mission of syndicate had you fighting on top a train which ended in a spectacular crash. Theres nothing in origins like that for 30 plus hours. Then theres the whole pointless weapon loot/microtransaction system. Origins tries to convince you that the system is important but it's not. I made my way through the whole game using the same sword and shield from start to finish. Just leveling them up as I went, and the game never got any easier or harder. Or the broken stealth because of the whistle mechanic that highlights how easy the dumb A.I. is to manipulate.

I could tear apart every single aspect of this game but anyone reading this gets my point on how I feel. And it's a shame because I actually liked syndicate after the disappointment that was Unity, but even Unity offered something unique like the co-op missions.

The side missions are mostly boring and have absolutely no interesting characters or writing. Just do the main quest and whatever side quests you come across, that's already plenty of content.

Yeah, I'm about 33 hrs into the vanilla game, and the while some of the sidequests lead you to interesting areas or have a decent short story attached, the vast majority are indeed really boring from start to finish. At a certain point, it really struck me just how often I was being asked to carry someone to safety. There are a handful of quests that break the mold, but there's no way of telling beforehand unfortunately. I'm enraptured by the world and the visual fidelity of it all, but the mission design is not on par. In reference to the post directly above mine, it also doesn't seem to be possible to 'mainline' it, because at several points in the story you'll be underleveled for the next series of quests. Maybe this is a factor of playing on Hard though?

Also, while undoubtedly a step up from the parry-heavy nature of the old games, the combat system in Origins feels a bit off. Enemies have this tendency to lock into an animation and hit you from really weird spots, even if you step away (i.e. if you don't dodge). The enemies' weapons have a tendency to zone in on you like heatseekers, even when you think you've gotten some breathing room. Perhaps some unclarity in hitboxes. It's hard to quantify exactly why it feels off for me. I had read/heard people compare it to Souls combat, but they're really nothing alike beyond the rudimentary control options you're given (light/heavy attack, dodge, block). It lacks a certain degree of... predictability/consistency?

Overall, I'm enjoying the core loop of it, but there is a lot of roughness along the margins of certain systems and aspects of the game, for some reason. Many strange looking animations (e.g. getting on a horse, walking up stairs, object interactions), wild discrepancies on visual fidelity (e.g. LOD issues, lack of AF, bad AA solution), etc. This is counterbalanced by a lot of content and complexity to be sure, but it's still a bit jarring. I hope the devs will continue to refine this model in future games, because I think there's a lot of potential in it.

Reddit is blocked at work, but cool! I haven't played since I finished Curse of the Pharaohs.

EDIT: So, downloaded the patch and I'm still at 99% :(

I've tried looking for a definitive list of stuff that counts towards 100% and haven't found anything conclusive. Anyone have any idea what I could be missing?

What about the Ptolemy statues? Those might count toward 100% and I don't think they're tracked and don't show up on your map unless you're near one.

So basically I was going through my list of quests ticking them off on a spreadsheet. Took a break to find I had 100%. I hadn't done anything different, so I guess it just took a while for the patch to work it's magic?

Nice, at least it's done now.

I'm still slowly working my way to 100%. I platinumed it back in December and occasionally load it up and play for 30 minutes and tick something off the list.

absolutely sick of the gating they do in this game, all side quests are basically.

Travel to waypoint rescue prisoner and carry him out,

Or travel to waypoint and press the Y button a lot in the investigation area while Bayek talks to himself.

I actually just want to see where the story goes now, after 26 hours and level 26 i really dont want to engage in any more filler content but now if i dont im too under leveled. Really losing the will to keep playing this..

If you're on PC, you could give yourself max level through the Animus Control Panel. On consoles you might be SOL though.

I think it's the combat, different weapons with different movesets. The beautiful graphics... very nice. I'm at level 21 or something, I think I'll have to do more main missions, which are still at level 12 lol.

Would it be a good idea to play the game with enemy level scaling or what its called?

Yes, do it. Enemy scaling and hardest difficulty is good.
