Because he calls out these young fools for being junkies and not being bangers? You got Kid trunks saying he chill with liquid heroin when Fredo died. Others said the same when Lil Peep died. I'm from an era when we said drugs ain't cool. The D.A.R.E program actually did work and it is sad how funding for it dwindle over the years. So nah, I fuck with Russ apart from his views he actually got bars and great production. I don't mind the ego just like some like the junkies.
The way he does it though.

Yachty, Vince, Logic, and Tyler are straight-edge too and they're not pointing with the finger arrogantly. If I as a youth heard them talk about not taking any drugs I would've found that much more enticing than if someone like Russ talked down to me.

Russ is somewhat right but is the artist at the end of the day that picks the beats. If the artist gravitates to "MetroBooming" type of beats..Thats on them. But also producers on the come up are not flipping the sound as much. Is a question with no answers. But is a debate to be had.
I totally forgot how the program was in other cities. But the fact I'm going with we had a strong push against drug usage in all forms of media during my time. Even in the arcades. In high school(NYC), if you did anything other than weed or acid you was consider a base head. No one wanted to fuck with you.

In short, Kanye's still not in a good place mentally. I expect a Tweetstorm from him about this as this blows up.

Normally I'd have a problem with Ebro not having any audio of his convo with Kanye considering how Ebro's painted Hot97 drama in the past, but Kanye isn't giving many reasons to doubt Ebro's account.

I don't mind people using drugs recreationally. I don't know a single person who don't like drugs. But I don't have a problem with Russ or Cole having an opinion. I don't think I dislike Russ for that one shirt though. He's just an obnoxious ass dude. There's a difference between being a drug user and every single song in your discography being about abusing drugs. If dudes were spitting dope shit and speaking about drugs in a creative way, I don't think I'd have a problem with some of these rappers. I mean Pusha T did the same old shit over and over for years and most people didn't have a problem with it.
I'm not saying that every person who is mentally ill supports Trump. I'm saying that every time Kanye has come out in favor of someone conservative, he's been having mental troubles.
And you're right, it doesn't. But, come on, no one wants to believe their favorite artist is a terrible person. Kanye, to me, has been someone to look up to, someone who constantly fights the system and wins. He defied the music industry and killed gangster rap, he broke barriers in fashion to the point where people like Rocky, Drake, and Virgil are creating collections for major fashion labels, and he tries to be more than who he is. That shit is inspirational to me, and the fact he's now openly trumpeting a known racist, misogynistic, just absolute dumpster fire of a human being for a dumb & naive reason fucking sucks. I give him chances because I want to maintain some semblance of ethical consumption in my life. I don't want a person I've idolized to be a shitty human being.
So, yeah, it's shitty what he's doing and I'm 100% with you that this shit isn't excusable. But, I'd just like some way to discredit the idea of my GOAT being a godawful person. I've said it before, if he comes out with the MAGA bars or literally tweets something like "DJT is the GOAT", I'm gone. That stuff is the kind of action that ruins legacies.

Also, I love drugs. But in moderation and responsibly. Psychedelics can be great for self development too.
Drugs and music go together like peanut butter and jelly. That's a fact. If he thinks is lame the type of drugs these artists are doing and doesn't want to be part of it, cool. I mean someone here mentions it that he could do better with his messaging than just saying fuck ya junkies. I like the way he goes about things in this industry, even if it is egotistical. Or as ya put it, corny, lol.
I feel like Xanax is a lame ass drug. The only time I've ever seen someone use it is to come down off of a ton of a other shit like blow and LSD. I feel like if you need to take some shit that is insanely strong like Xanax just to go to sleep then you got bigger issues. That aside I think it's just sorta a crutch for these guys to constantly be talking about party drugs. I get it. Too much lean too much molly. I get it you like white girls who like blow. At least Migos came up with a white powder anthem and called it Hannah Montana.
