I wonder how they'll explain the spiderman resemblance when this is supposed to be standalone?

Maybe eddie could casually mention being a fan of the wallcrawler or something ambiguous like that

Oh yeah, and whoever didn't catch that lady's incorrect pronunciation of "symbiote" should be fired. That needs to be ADRed ASAP.

It's a miserable state of affairs to have Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed together and... this is what they're being used for. Like, just in this trailer, Tom Hardy is effortlessly, endlessly watchable and charismatic. Just knowing what it's for.....

The middle line about doing whatever we want sounds like Lance Reddick, or at least, how his delivery often sounds.

That's not possible at all. Wtf come on lol
Why do you say that? The movie very much looks like it's all about a man's descent into madness/journey into becoming Venom. That's what the trailer supports. And Sony's trailers almost always "show the whole movie" sequentially. Which this trailer seems to.

That kind of line is definitely something I could see as an end shot.

I don't get what this is. Tone, style, reason for existing. I just don't get it.

Don't like Tom Hardy's accent, looks like it has little to do with the original Eddie Brock character.

It really looks like they've removed all the spider related powers and imagery. He's just a big alien goo monster with a lot of teeth.

There's something off about this transformation and I can't put my finger on it.

It looks... average. I'll definitely go watch it, but I'm not expecting to be blown away or anything. Hopefully the movie will be good enough that it secures a sequel that looks more exciting in promotional material and during the actual screening.

They did it with Amazing Spiderman 2

What happened at the end of that? I don't remember

I guess anything is possible but it just doesn't feel like an ending shot to me. And what a cheesy way to end a movie...I refuse to believe!

This looks hilarious to me and I think I gotta see it. Tom Hardy going nervous breakdown route with whatever the hell his accent is = must see

Really liking the way Venom looks. Other than that....ehhhhhhh. I will always give Tom Hardy a shot, but these trailers haven't been doing much for me.

I really dig how he awkwardly says "why would we do that?" As it starts taking over.

Yea, that line and reading alone sell me on Hardy's take.

I can totally see the entirety of the character arc immediately, and it actually functions pretty well, taking a relatively meek guy and putting him in dire circumstances with these vast powers and seeing how long it takes him to embrace them and use them potentially nefariously. It's a negative reflection of Spider-Man's power/responsibility speech.

The major problem I can see arising (beside the plot being pretty straightforward from the looks of it, with a boring backdrop and villain), is that I can't see the movie not end with Brock being, as the trailer points out, an anti-hero. This would have been a unique chance to portray someone with superpowers descend into villainy as a protagonist, but I don't see it happening.

Yeaaahhhh... Hardy's performance in these scenes seems off.

Something about his delivery is awkward as hell. I think I'll still watch it though.
