I don't believe he's in the movie. Feige straight up said the film is not in the MCU.

They haven't lost me completely yet but I need to see more. Feels like a "I'll get around to watching it eventually I guess" right now.

Why do you say that? The movie very much looks like it's all about a man's descent into madness/journey into becoming Venom. That's what the trailer supports. And Sony's trailers almost always "show the whole movie" sequentially. Which this trailer seems to.

That kind of line is definitely something I could see as an end shot.
That last shot looks like the beginning of Eddie confronting the Life Foundation's hired muscle.

Not really knowing anything about the character or anything, my first thoughts are that this sounds interesting, but it looks stupid with then black goo arms popping out of him all over the place.

It could be. But it definitely looks like it could be from the last part of the film even if it's not the very last shot. Again, Sony always does this with their trailers and spoils their whole damn movie. Just see that Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer on the last page for reference.

Yeah. It's clearly probably his first full transformation (at least on screen) but they're not going to save it for just the mook, especially when the film clearly has other symbiotes to fight and a bigger villain fish to fry.

Not to tell you not to worry but so far it's only been one movie.

Tom Hardy's character seems a little weird; speaking confidently in one scene and then like Rainman in the next. I still want to watch him though, so I guess they picked the right actor. Venom looks nice and scary too.

It's just, the trailer feels very much like those for the TASM movies. In that, they scream 'Hi, I'm a badly written movie!'

Why would the movie END on confronting random Security Tough?

This looks dreadful.

The trailer editing is dreadful, not a sentence that wasn't horribly chopped.

Having seen the whole trailer, it looks like an average hollywood action movie. They nailed Venom's voice though.

I honestly kinda liked it for a stand alone film side.

I have a sense while Venom is Venom but they wanted to have acting in the film and not cgi doing the acting. Kinda how Spawn only showed certain parts with him full on mask.

And I liked Tom's acting.. Different from the badass that he is. Like hes vulnerable. He's humam experiencing two being inside him.

I'm not writing it off yet.

With Carnage being the main villain that's kind of a good guarantee we'll see more of Venom's ugly ass along with Carnage's ugly ass.

I mean, I liked the trailer. I like the design. I like Tom Hardy.

However... they completely removed Spider-Man from Venom's origin. Now the symbiote is just some goo that some scientists found somewhere. This not only completely ruins any chance of the movie being "semi-canon" in the MCU (as Defenders or AoS), but also...

... why would the symbiote look like Spider-Man if Parker hasn't worn it beforehand? (I think I can even see one of the legs of the big, white spider in Venom's shoulder)
Why would Venom have Spider-Man powers if Parker hasn't worn it? Or is he just going to be a gooey Hulk with tendrils?
Why would Tom Holland appear in the movie?

Damn, Sony, why do you have to make everything so complicated?

No. It should be pronounced Sim-Bee-Oat.

I'm American so that's how I pronounce it as well. But what about the British, Canadians, and Australians? Are we all in agreement it's "bee" and not "bi"

And though the symbiote doesn't have spidey powers right now. I hope they can figure out a way to get Holland in this movie and upgrade the suit with spidey powers and give him the spidey logo as well. He can still be cool without it but that's Venom to me, not a black T-1000 with scary teeth.

I don't understand anybody thinking this has a chance to be good. We've seen this song and dance with Sony before.

And those shots aren't gonna be any better in the movie. Knowing what we do about this movie being a low budget, rushed product, what you see at this stage is what you're gonna get in the theater. They're not throwing a ton of money at this.
