Cripes, this is beyond pathetic. Got dudes who are so deep in the rabbit hole that they genuinely believe in completely absurd conspiracy theories that have absolutely no basis in reality. Amazing, and also terrifying at the same time.Man what the fuck is up with people? BattleTech now at Mixed reviews on Steam thanks to reviews like this: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198002309891/recommended/637090/
(also thanks to numerous tech problems, but I haven't encountered any in my 8 hours of play, so can't really comment on that)
Is it weird I am more excited to play this when I get home than my copy of God of War?
I was trying to look and find any icon on the Mech in tutorial to melee, but couldn't find it. I disabled all the weapons just to be sure.
This behavior is really weird as I would not expect heavy GPU load on cinematics. Shit can't be read but is says 99 per GPU load.Yeah, like i said in the review thread, this game runs absolutely dreadful. In missions with big cities the frame-rate goes to single digits. Something is wrong.
Never encountered this, which means it should be paaaaatched the fuck out. This behavior is really weird as I would not expect heavy GPU load on cinematics. Shit can't be read but is says 99 per GPU load.

edit: and basically everywhere even menu, or this below loading screen
Not really directly related, but if your GPU runs very hot at 100% load you should look at it's colling system and clean it / make sure the fans are running at maximum / close to maximum. The GPU should never run at high temps.
Anyone having issues with it crashing at the end of the tutorial? Because its done so twice now and the tutorial is not so interesting I want to re-play it.
Ohh, game looks right up my alley but have only a XPS 13 at hand (8th gen i5).
Off to my long *to-buy-when-i-have-bought/build-gaming-pc* list or when GPU thunderbolt adapters get cheaper. PS4 release seems unlikely.
I'm a sucker for good round based games which still offer something for the eye...
I wanted to play this on my old laptop but wont even try that. Game is maxing out everything even on lowest settings for me. No change in FPS.That computer should be able to run this game alright at least on lower settings. It's not like the game's a particular looker anyway.
Really makes you think what the ~9 months of beta was for.I just played for a few hours and there's so much wrong with this game on the QoL and tech fronts.
During the entire development, did no one ever think that it would be a good idea to add an option for setting the tooltip delay, like in most every competent UI-heavy game since the 90s?
Or an option for speeding up / skipping animations? Also, performance seems mediocre at best given what the game is doing.
Despite all that, I totally love the game so far. It does so many things outside tech and QoL right:
- The way it presents the setting and backstory with limited resources is awesome.
- The story itself and the characters in your crew are interesting too, which is something that many tactics games just don't do well.
- The mechs are spot on, visually, in terms of customization, in how they move, and also in the actions you can perform.
- The battle mechanics seem sufficiently deep, a lot more so than in e.g. Shadowrun. (As it should be in a tactics-focused game)
And a large part of the strategy appears to be in deciding loadouts, which is also as it should be.
- The UI - outside of QoL niggles - is actually really cool. It works well and its design is really consistent and fitting.
The "working well" part is especially important given how much there is to handle UI-wise both in battle and out of it.
From what I've seen on LPs and the like, positioning matters a lot. Not just because it affects which armor facing you can shoot at, and rear facings are much less armored than front facings, but because you can angle your mechs so that a side with relatively little in breakable things (like your big guns) takes hits from incoming fire first, it being better to lose a small laser than a PPC or something like that.Maybe I'm playing this wrong, but I feel like positioning matters a lot less than in other TBS games I've played. I basically just shoot the enemy from as far away with as much as I can over and over.

Digging it so far.
For some reason I can't target individual mech parts. Is that a perk I get later?

Launches like this are why people have been trained to wait for Steam sales.
By all accounts this will be an incredible game after a couple of patches to fix performance & QoL issues.
