Hitting me really hard today the not getting 256GB remorse (mostly because of the camera). It wouldn't even be that more expensive per month. On the other hand I have 74GB free on my 128GB 6s+, have iCloud storage, and I'd have to wait one more month for the phone at least.
What do?
I wouldn't get the 64GB. Got a 256GB X coming from a 128GB 7 (where I barely managed to scratch 55GB of usage) and it's just not worth it downgrading to 64GB.
The content on your phone is only going to grow (apps get bigger due to highres assets, music library grows if you don't want to stream 247, photo library grows with 4k60fps videos etc being possible now).
Half a decade ago we were content with 16/32GB, sounds impossible nowadays with the system alone locking away 10+GB on my X. I think 64GB will no longer cut it without heavy optimization and cloud storage usage (stream music, offload apps and photos etc).
Better safe than sorry. Seen loads of people having buyers remorse over their 64GB X. It's only shy of 200 bucks more, not like it makes that much of a difference. The delivery delay in your case is annoying though...
Mine implied I didn't need to reset and repair, but it didn't work properly and I ended up having to do it. I think the design is that it just works.
Apple Watch content is automatically backed up on your paired phone upon unpairing it. You can then, afaik, restore it on your new phone by using the phones iCloud backup. I don't know if the pairing process is directly looking up a potential Watch backup in iCloud (I don't think so cause backups are encrypted).
Here's what I did:
- Unpair my Watch (it backed up to my old phone)
- Got an iCloud backup from my old phone
- Restored said backup on the X
- Paired the Watch with the X, it presents you backups for your Watch
