Too lazy to find out how to take out HUD and I prefer gameplay shots in general so some shares, everything is in 4K

I always wanted a no HUD rule in Neogaf, hopefully a 2018 thread will make a few changes.
The odd thing is most of the games posted here have either built in photomodes, CT's for HUD or console commands available for games such as SoW, Star wars, Quake, Everspace, DMC etc etc.

I don't think we need to be so restrictive.
Some people might find screenshots with HUDs more useful than a zoomed in 3:4 image of a character's face. But I bet they don't want a "no portrait screenshot" rule.

I guess it's about time we have the no HUD discussion in here as well? And then again and again every month or two when someone else complains?
There's room for shots with or without huds, it's possible to have both. It really is.

I don't use reshade and am too dumb to use custom camera tools, so if there's photomode, I use photomode. Whenever I can, I try to turn off HUD. But I can also appreciate a game for its gameplay beauty (e.g., Everspace up above).

Meaby we should have different threads regarding screenshots with Hud on or off or something like that. Some people just want to share their gaming experience and upload shots and some people really put their minds,sweat and tears in making screenshots. It's not easy to make a good looking screenshot.

We already had that and I believe that the one where people were putting sweat, blood and all just died at some point.
Yeah the Bullshot thread didn't live like the regular screenshot threads do. I'm all for screenshot threads encompassing all forms. I don't think it should just be limited to mega pretty art photos.
Thankfully they added toggles for all of that stuff. It cleans up incredibly well now vs the beta.
It was indeed a great thread, till the people who posted terrible shots at GAF found their way here and started to pollute this thread with their crap as well.

Explain to me again like I'm a 5 year old what the logic is behind posting eye blistering shitshots with a HUD from a game which has a photomode? Why do people need to see that kind of crap? Please, make an effort and explain it to me again, as I'm too stupid to remember the last time someone explained it to me.
A game without photomode and without a freecam / hud toggle, what else can you do than take a shot with what you have to work with. It's still ugly and I still wonder why on earth one would want to see a shot about that here, as there are a lot of those shitshots over at the steam page of the game, but whatever. Games with cameras, hud toggles, even photomodes... why not make a little bit of effort?
The 2 shots above... not even a little bit of effort. NONE.

Oh, it's just another HUD debate. I thought we've done with this discussion on old forum and there is no need to bring it here, but i guess we need to talk about this one more time, sigh... I'll just repeat my position - to each his own, some people sensitive to HUD, some people don't like photoshoped or cropped screenshots, but since there is no hard rules about HUD, portraits, old games or any other screenshots features, this discussion is pointless and derailing the thread. If you don't like something, send your concerns to OP and don't attack people only because you don't like this type of screenshots. There is always Flickr when people posts exclusively beautiful HUDless PNG screens if you want only that kind of content.

Ah, so in a thread with no hud shots and everyone doing their best to create great looking shots, someone posting shitshots with full hud and every single element you can think of in the shot isn't derailing the thread ? Good to know.
Look, I'm not someone who can forbid anyone posting anywhere. I just find it terribly annoying that a thread which started so well here, everyone did their best, is now ruined as much as the old thread over at GAF was, at least for me. I know if I left this thread as I did at gaf, no-one would give a shit, but I don't really care. What I do care about is that I found it a great thread to post my shots in, but I find it of no use to post my shots here when they're flanked with crap straight from whatever is in the copy buffer. That's not worth my time.
Yeah, and for each game on steam there's this lovely 'screenshot' page, where you can look at hundreds of shots from people from gameplay, sometimes even menus and what not. If you want to see how the game looks during gameplay with every hud element enabled, you can look there as well.
Would most people come here and look at the shots in wonder how great it all looks, or would most people come here to look at shots of old games, games with full hud and what not which in general look terrible compared to the other shots? I bet the former.
And what can OP do about it?
Potatohead literally says "I'm too lazy to remove the HUD". too lazy. If I was that lazy, if jim would have been that lazy (when he created all those CT's back in the day), if hatti would be that lazy, if the janitor would be that lazy, if b3ob would be that lazy, if IDK31 would be this lazy, this thread wouldn't exist. Trying to find logic in anything people do is your first mistake.
Some people just prefer posting shots on how the game actually looks when you play it and some people want to see those shots, and that's fine.
If there's a shot that I don't particularly care about, I scroll past it. Problem solved.
Obviously, there's something to be said about the "Thinking: Think before you post. Is the screenshot worth posting?" rule, and everyone should certainly take a beat and think about if they personally think the shot is worth something. If they think so, I'm not going to argue against that or try to backseat mod the thread. I'm not the screenshot police. It may not be worth anything to me, but it may be worth something to someone else.
One might make the argument that well done hudless super duper mega shots stand out more when there's something else in between.
I mean, of course you can criticize some screenshots for poor quality, but if i understand this right, whole this debate started again because some people complained not about screenshots quality, but about fact they have HUD and games been too old, which is not immediately = bad quality in my opinion. If other posts were just like your with criticism of those Shadow of War screens, then it's fine, but all i saw is just another generalized "HUD sucks" complain, which is not fine.
i think the biggest thing is context. I have no problem with new games, without tools or photomode to be posted. it informs me how the game looks, like the the Battlefront 2 shots, for example.
now, when games like Shadow of War, that have all of these tools exist, and people still post HUD, normal camera shots, without anything special, with Talion just standing there...why bother? if you dont put enough care into your shots, in games where you do have all the tools for it to shine, why should i as a viewer, even bother or care?

i do disagree with the old games thing. if using similar tools, freecam, etc, i dont personally see the problem.
