Hmm, want to get a 65 inch at the end of the year but want to keep it to $700ish.

Maybe I'll go with the 55 inch at $600

Edit: 65 inch should really have 4 hdmi

There is slight talk of a bit more input delay on the new models compaired to last years but definitely waiting to hear from more reviewers.

I used PTO for Tuesday and Wednesday to fix my entire living room and bedroom setup. I'm moving this older Sony Bravia to the bedroom while the TCL will hold down the living room I've been using the same tv since Arkham Asylum and Tekken 6 came out lol.

Been eyeing this to replace my 60in. Was told in the other thread that this does 120hz in 1080p, is that right? Is that over hdmi?

I still have my p605. I absolutely love it and have no intention of replacing it as long as it still works, but I will say that TCL make some awesome TV's. I would totally buy another from them if I needed another.

I know an LG OLED is much better, but is it 3 times the price better?
It will depend on your level of "video enthusiast-ness," honestly. The OLEDs are considered to have the best overall picture you can get, period. This TCL (if it's like last year's) will have great performance at a much lower cost, but everyone has a different "how much is 'the best' worth to me" threshold.

I'd liken it to the mid-gen consoles: for a huge swath of the population, the Pro and the X have benefits that won't be important to them, whereas this forum will tend to think those benefits are worth the cost. You could probably extend that to the last-gen as well - there are tons of people who are still on 360s and PS3s, and love them.

I'm not sure where the original quote came from, but in the display thread it was stated that one of the long-time AVSforum editors claimed the cost of OLED wasn't quite worth the marginal differences.

Edit:
In reference to the following question about the new TCL 6-Series:

So, without technical terms, how well is the contrast and overall vibrancy of this TV? Would someone like me be blown away with the overall image coming from using a 1080p PC monitor this whole time (Besides the jump to 4K)?

This is what Mark Henninger over at AVS Forums (he's a calibrator and one of their professional reviewers) had to say:
This looked really good. As in, scary good. Should I get more explicit? I have to come up with a good way to describe what's going on here because that Netflix stream didn't just look good, it was free of artifacts and looked incredible. If I were to base it just on what I saw last night, I don't see why most people would bother buying an OLED or ultra-premium LCD at more that triple the price. As for "more money buys you more performance" that remains true. It's just that the law of diminishing returns kicks in extremely hard right here at 999 bucks.

My 55 inch I ordered from Best Buy was delivered today, but I am at work for another hour.

Very excited for 4K and HDR!

Edit:

That's totally subjective.
Some wouldn't trade the per-pixel illumination that only OLED offers for anything else while others might feel that it's not that important for example.

i think you can get a b7 for cheaper than that? c7's are usually around that price from what i've seen, but i don't know which one is better of the two

They are the same thing, just different stand and bezel color.

I don't think you can get a C7 for $1200 even through greentoe. 1300 sure. Premium for the black bezel essentially.

Unless you know something I don't or you're looking at scam sellers on Google.

love what TCL is doing for the market. I'll hang on to my 55 P series TCL till they get newer HDMI and support for Freesync.

Great answer, as always

Edit:

To cut through some of the hyperbole, a normal user on AVS that got a non-review unit today, said it's good and slightly better than the 2017 set, but nowhere near an OLED...so take the one review as just that (small sample size)

I have the P607 right now and I love it. After I move later this summer, I would love to pick up the 65". Perhaps the thing I love the most is the Roku TV aspect of it. Such a joy to use and so easy.

I'm curious as to how this would compare to the KS8000 in various respects. As much as I love the KS8000, I absolutely hate its OS.
