Yes, if only they allowed VR in it's entirely. Sounds like another missed opportunity like GT Sport
Don't fret, they'll make everything VR that can be made be. The full editor definitely will be available, and it's a revelation to have your stuff placed around you instead of just on TV, according to Alex.

They obviously can't just make the campaign play in VR, because that relies on cinematic scenes and other stuff known not to work well in VR. Also many user created dreams might not work, possibly you need to browse those specifically made for VR. These will have a tighter limit on what can be put into for performance reasons. I'm confident they will find a good way.

But it's not a crippled afterthought like GT:S.

Sounds good. Looking forward to it a lot more now, thanks.

VR support will be there in terms of all features, it's just that you can only play other people's dreams that support VR (within thermo budget, marked through a tag, or designed by the creator in VR for example). So not all parts of the main campaign will support VR but I'm not fussed about that - there will be too much other creation fun and other people's content for VR.

In any case now that the MM team are using VR in Dreams at home and office they will most certainly prioritise more VR content made by themselves.

For sure MM will bring a lot VR and non VR stuff for Dreams after launch.
I see games like Robot Rescue or Moss coming :D

Yesterday I bought GoW and Yakuza 6 but what I really want is Dreams !!

Dreams will be ideal for making VR titles. Huge variety of art styles, manageable/bitesize experiences, and a community that will learn from each other......and quite possibly develop innovative playstyles and control schemes.

Fair enough but that article I posted suggested that even after launch they have no plans to fully integrate VR. To me it's kind of frustrating because I feel VR is the next evolution of gaming and if you have a company who makes the hardware and the software they should be trying harder to promote it with bigger titles. Capcom doesn't even make hardware yet they did a great job with Resident Evil 7, so why is Sony unable to do it on their own big titles? Dreams looks like the perfect fit as others have noted.

My guess is VR will be supported in create mode, and then you'll be able to tag a creation as VR suitable. And they might have some MM-made VR creations after launch for people to play.

I think when they talk about wanting to wanting to avoid a 'shitty VR experience', it's a nod to the fact that many creations people come up with may not be suitable or comfortable for VR, so just making it available everywhere would come with risks in that regard. They're not in full control of what people will experience in this game.

If they can really integrate VR creation that might be a huge distinction for Dreams. Would that make it the first user creation VR experience ever?

Of that scope, definitely.

There's stuff where you can draw in VR and share it, etc. But that pales so fn hard in comparison to what Dreams seems to be.

Fantastic stream again. Really shows of how quick and easy you can set up everything with simple logic. Also great how much you can do simple workarounds with invisible stuff, binding things to objects and little trickery with cameras.
Overall it seems like Dreams will give it's creators much freedom as it is possible to link about every value with every input.

A couple of videos up from the VFX festival 2018 (February)

One hour long sculpting presentation, similar to the usual Kareem presentation.

3 minute interview

Not much new except it has the "thermometer" visible at points, but it's difficult to work out what fills up the different bars?

Also he mentions there's a 10-year plan for Dreams, so should transition to PS5.

Regarding the ten year plan, Kareem said that for Phase 1 of that plan they "will be releasing exclusively on PS4". Am I reading into that too much or does it hint at other platforms? Perhaps just the PS5, or perhaps Sony recognises how big this could be and is planning a PC release?

He's talking about it as a creation tool. Part of the long term plan is to allow people to export things they've created to other creation applications.

Yeah I get that, that's part of phase 2.

In that stream he specifically said "For the first generation of Dreams we start exclusively on PS4". Which definitely implies something more?

I think that was referring to what I've said. We can see quite obviously that the 'ten year plan' MUST then imply it's also going to be on the PS5 and is going to adopt the same philosophy as GTS, which I believe is also going to continue on when the PS5 releases.

I wish the sculpting could be done with something better than Move controllers. It would be great if Dreams launced with new motion controls, or at least I hope it supports them if Sony launches them with the next VR headset...if that is actually a given.

You can do everything with the Dualshock controller. You never have to use MOVE controllers.

I know. I just feel like a better quality, more accurate motion controller might be the ideal input method.

Ok, then I agree. I hate the MOVE controller myself, largely because of they're stupid shape. They need to be turned down at the business end so you don't end up having to twist your wrist to point towards the bottom of the screen.

I wonder if we'll see Dreams 2 or they're gonna keep updating the base game a la Minecraft .

I reckon it'll be a "Plus" version with different modes of input (Dualshock 5 or another new controller), and a different thermometer for "PS5 only" dreams, but that you'll still be able to make "Classic" dreams with the old thermometer so that everyone, PS4 and 5 alike can play.

Yeah this would totally make sense if they are planing a ten years journey.

I got a crazy theory. They might go for the Roblox market later. Create on ps4 exclusively and play it on ps4 pc xbox switch. People can buy your created levels(if you set it to paid instead of free) and you make money like in roblox. Dreams has a lot of potential to expand while still keeping it's roots on ps4.

I know nothing about Roblox so I can't comment on that. I can't recall the name of that PS2 development tool (Net ... something or other) but I think Dreams is the natural evolution. I'd be surprised to see any games created by Dreams to find their way onto other platforms but I wouldn't be surprised to find elements of game creation found on other platforms.

Not sure why everyone is asking for a switch and pc port... the studio and ip are both owned by sony, that's a dead idea.

I sort of expected a long life for the game. It seems to easily scale up and assets quality can always be reworked/ reshaped. On top of that it's clearly the type of game that communities will support for a long time. Everything kind of indicated a long life and support for that game.

Looks like a new stream next week. specifically on the audio.

From their blog:

We'll be gathering up our Audio Molecules (Tom Colvin, Ed Hargrave and Bogdan Vera) to take you through how music is created in Dreams on Friday, 18th May at 5PM BST. They'll be showing you how they create catchy tunes and a range of instruments in Dreams as well as how music ties into logic and timelines. And Bogdan said something about...beat-boxing? Guess you'll have to tune in to see what he means.

For their advertising marketing of this game they should also try to capture mainstream audience with user created levels shown maybe like GTA 5 level shown lol something like that

Dreams fans, I come in peace. As I am a firm believer in this game, I am super excited for this and I hope to be apart of the community long term.
Is there any new info I should read up on or videos about the game? Also shoutout to Blackleg-sanji1 for defending the game with me in the E3 Playstation 2018 thread lmao

I think no big showcase presencebecause Dreams has to be played to be understood. There will be a "Beta available now" and a very short demo.

If it is not shown at E3, the I think it is in trouble.

The main campaign is short so I don't think thay they will show much more of it. What they're best off doing is focusing on creation but keep it short - 30 seconds each on completing a sculpt, composite, animation, logic and music from one good dream, then 5 x 15 second clips of gameplay from this and other different dreams, followed by a quick montage of other things made so far (like what they did last time) while they announce that beta date an release window.

Would keep it to around 5 minutes.

I believe at this point the only thing that could sell dreams to more people than it already has would be to replicate a small portion of an existing other game (i talk very high quality replica) to show people to what extend the game is capable
