Man, the more I watch this show, the more I realise how cheap it is. They just sit around in rooms and talk; and/or stand in some woods/forest etc el. Its all bloody hilarious how cheap the show is. I wonder what the episode cost is.
Yeah up until recently the fight choreography was so weak that it felt like they just did the fights in slow motion and then sped up the footage as needed.
The special effects on the norse demi gods felt rather weak too. That superimposed green face over theirs looked so lame.

Also giving everyone a glowy eye effect for some reason bugs me. I think it goes back to an interview I read of kripke back in the season 2 or 3 era where he wanted to cut down on the unique eye glows, i think at one point they were going to have every demon have unique eye colors but eventually they settled on only exceptionally unique demons should have an eye glow that wasn't black. But now it feels like every character has a glow.

Angel eyes are white and blue, i guess this is fine but I liked how their thing used to be that they'd just make the area around them glow and they'd have the shadow of their wings instead, it feels like they haven't done this in forever.
Witches / magic user eyes are purple
Jack has golden glow
Lucifer's glow reddish
Azmodeus had a white eyes like lilith right?
I swear we had one more unique eye glow recently too, might've been the other princes.

"Carry on my wayward son, for there will be peace when you are done" That song better be in the season finale, otherwise I'm playing it from my phone as they do the season recap before the episode starts. I know they've been trying to cut down on costs, but that's one sacrifice they shouldn't make.

Oh right yeah, I was thinking of alastair for a moment lol, he had white eyes like lilith.
Did they ever show crowley with red eyes? I know he had the red smoke cloud for ages but I dont remember if he ever had red eyes.

Crowley had red eyes when he reenergized once after having the snot beat out of him. They did the whole omen music thing, too.

really? For a show on its 13th season I feel like they take the cheapest route for everything anyways.

Leviathans=humans
Angels and demons=humans
Werewolves=humans with plastic teeth

The one time they really did something was in the bad place with the CGI dinosaur that showed up for two seconds. Love the show but it's seriously trash when it comes to showing monsters

The song just perfectly represents everything the show is about. It's like the opening song for Psych. Over time, they shortened it and it's great when you get the longer version. I love Supernatural. I also wish they'd bring back the original guy that played their dad. He was awesome.

Great episode. They actually managed to explain Gabriel being gone for so long with a good story.

My only question is why was he sleeping? Angels don't sleep...

And yeah not a fan with every single enemy being human...they could have at least done an actual wolf for Fenrir. The show has been going on for 13 seasons, I highly doubt CW wouldn't give them a bigger budget to make things look better.

Between actor/writer/producer/production raises and the network wanting to squeeze as much money as they can from each show, it's not shocking. If they were going to do a definitive final season CW would probably give them all the cash they needed (within reason), but so long as there's no end in sight they'll just take the money the show makes and use it to try and make new shows.

If they would easily give the show a bigger budget, then the show would get that bigger budget and use it.

It is what it is.

I think my problem isn't even really the bad budget but the writing of the mythology content has been lousy since Andrew Dabb took over. Season 11 showed that the show could still really shine even with the shows current budget. Both the mythology and the monster of the week episodes were a lot better during that season but this season put a larger emphasis on the mythology, even combining much of it with what would normally be standalone episodes and it's been both slow and boring and also dragged down a lot of the MOTW episodes.

I felt like the last two seasons have had less good MOTW episodes and less interesting mythology arcs. I also feel like Andrew Dabb completely did NOT "get" the Men of Letters and therefore turned them into villains, ruining the Men of Letters stuff for me personally.

I still enjoy the show but far less then I did in earlier seasons. They really need to figure things out. Get a new showrunner or new writers if they must. The show needs a major shakeup at this point.

BTW this recent Misha Collins video definitely had me laughing... https://youtu.be/KYDuDGISJXs

Anyone else think
that Dean will impulsively say yes to Michael in the season finale and that they show could very well be moving toward "Apocalypse: Take 2"? Lots of evidence support that the events shown here may be about to come true:

https://youtu.be/2xqNy4GZvqk

Lots of evidence hinting at this. We know Dean will be playing a new character going into season 14. It's an old character that we seen before and we know with all the Apocalypse players back (Lucifer, Michael, Gabrielle, all of the Heaven issues)... it definitely LOOKS as if they are setting the show up to potentially do the apocalypse discussed in the season 5 episode shown in the above youtube link.

Finally check out this video which gives a LOT of hints to the above: https://youtu.be/mJfT9JR8Cho

Anyone else think my theory holds any weight or do any of you have alternative theories of your own that you would like to discuss?

If they actually do shit like that we know it'll only last a couple episodes into the next season. Remember demon Dean?

I don't think that whole thing will come back around until they're ready to end the series. It's just too perfect a way to close it out.

My other running theory is that Dean will take up the mantle of
Death. There has been lots of hints there too:

-Death saying I'll be seeing you real soon.
-Dean's season 14 character teaser is shrouded in darkness. Similar tie as Death.
-The Death cutting the impala in half card from last years comic con.
-Lots if teasing that Dean would die this season.
-The Michael/apocalypse stuff was a season 13 thing. Would they really want to continue that into season 14?
-Dean's clothes is 1930s - 1940s. In a leaked photo he was wearing an old looking cap.

Thoughts?

I always hated how cheap the show is as well with the monsters. Hell, even when Dean was in purgatory, which is where they hail from, for some reason they still look like humans running around a canadian forest. gimme a break. Buffy and Angel somehow were always able to make their monsters look like actual monsters on similar budgets. And they didnt get the canadian tax break.

I like your theory more... leave the season 5 reprise for the series ending

Yup even a show as cheap as Stan Against Evil was able to have new monsters every single episode. I bet the budget on that was a quarter of Supernatural. lol

On that latest theory...

Isn't "Death" more a role than a character? How would Dean taking on that role make him a totally new character? Jensen Ackles said it's a huge change and they've all suggested he'll be a totally different person in a Dean suit, not Dean playing a different role.

Maybe I'm missing something about Death in this series, but they had distinct personalities and we saw the current Death when she was merely a reaper and she didn't change personalities when she took on the role of Death.

Also Reapers / Death were never human in the lore... and "Death" is appointed from the ranks of Reapers, not from a human. Specifically it's the next reaper to be "killed" while the seat is vacant.

This definitely crossed my mind and I really don't have an answer. Maybe the original Death will come back and take over Dean's body? I also noticed the ties that Dean wore in the teaser and the one Death wore were similar. Not the same though.

To be honest, I hope it's not Michael as that would be to predictable and I've been really bored with the whole Michael story this season as is.

Anyone else have anything to add? Any additional theories?

Also we should find out within the next two werks if Wayward Sisters is going to get picked up or not as the tv upfronts are mid-May so annoucements will likely come amytime between now and then.

That's more money then I thought. You would "think" they could make better episodes for that much money or afford a monster once in awhile at least.
When the cast and crew's salaries go up each year or every couple of years, that just takes money away from other things. I don't think the per episode budget has risen that much, so they have to cut corners somewhere to pay the cast and crew.

Yea...I guess you're right lol. They've been doing this for 13 years, they must be getting a hell of a lot per episode.

It is what it is.

Yeah I know, I was just hoping they'd give more or something, the effects seam lazily/cheaply done

He was low on grace. The less grace they have, the more human they become it seems.

But this was before Asmodeus drained him, he should have been at full strength.

This episode lol...Gabe getting it on with Rowena were those hickies I saw on his neck ;) ?

Lucifer being a trolling bastard as usual, LOVE IT! Breaks into song and gets on Rowena's nerves heh. He seemed really powerful during that encounter considering how much grace was taken...

He didn't have any juice, it's why the warding didn't affect him. What had me confused was Jack not juicing him up, he's probably got the power to do it.
I took it the opposite way, actually, since he was able to just burn up the warding (whereas earlier this season, it took a whole battalion of angels a long time to do it).

I think it's because he damaged one of them with the angel blade first. If he had his mojo there's no reason for him to not just nuke the vamps and he told Jack (in passing) he had no juice.

That 2 second Great Ape CG from the Jurassic Park episode took a lot out of the overall budget, so give them a break.

Good episode, really gave me a TLOU vibe as they were trapped in the tunnels with the infected/feral vamps.

How has it been since Scoobynatural? I have every episode since sitting on my PVR, as well as two from back when it was great and didn't include Rowena.

This season has been decent, and better than the average show, but the whole other dimension thing is kind of boring and cheap.

Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the CW is likely passing on Wayward Sisters and instead pick up a spinoff of the Vampire Diaries spinoff, The Originals.

Apparently greenlighting another spinoff of a lowly rated and ended show makes more sense to the CW then picking up the much talked about spinoff of quite possibly the most successful show on the CW. CW logic!

Dusappointed to say the least but here is the article:
