So which position player pitches for the Mets tonight? Last one I remember was Ike Davis, no idea who it would be tonight

I wanted to sit and enjoy a good baseball game tonight while I'm on dad duty with my toddler...let's just say he ended up getting my undivided attention.

For those not in the know on Richards, he's an "ace" until he gets he slightest bit shook then he shits the bed every time. I admit our "golden glove" defense blew it for him in the first, but that was all that was needed to get under his skin and blow it.

I'm glad the Angels made some good moves in the off season, but if they don't get some quality pitching come trade time they're gonna rot in the same sort of mediocrity they've been in for years.

Oh, and fire Sosh.

finally the white sox are only 5-1 against the royals this year.
wish it was 1-5 :/

I figured the first game of the doubleheader was a toss up with Oaks making his debut and it looked like he had nothing in his first start. Skoglund was shockingly good today and Royals took advantage of errors that decided the game for the most part since three runs were unearned in a 5-2 victory.

Matt Davidson is almost single-handily making the White Sox win and it was shocking he was hit-less in Game 2. Homer-less for two games against them too. :p

You think they're going to make noise this year?

They have perhaps the best player to ever play the game, all-stars everywhere, Ohtani, etc etc. They could be hurt by injuries and fall out of the race but complaining about a team being 'mediocre' with that roster and that payroll and that team's willingness to spend is laughable. Let's get real here.

I mean, some of y'all sound like Jays fans a couple years ago complaining all the time when they had one of the best teams in baseball. Of course most of them don't post anymore becaue the Jays are terrible but still...

16-10, 4th best record in the AL and people talking about mediocre just because they're getting knocked around a bit for a game lololol

I feel like the Angels are held back by their manager and pitching staff. They have several good/great players, but I won't be shocked to see them miss the post season again. Especially if Richards keeps looking like this

I admit calling them mediocre this year is probably a bit of hyperbole fueled by coming off a Yankee spanking.

I think barring any major injuries the Angels will definitely be in the wild card mix, especially since trying to overtake the Astros for the division seems unlikely. But I don't have faith in a 1 game wild card game. Who do they send to the mound? All the starters are bipolar. We've had how many 2-4 inning starts before the bullpen came in within the past ten games? My hope is Ohtani nails his stuff as the season peogeesses and could take the mound for a 1 game deathmatch, cause Richards, Skaggs, and Heaney are too unpredictable.

Our bullpen, for better or worse, has been quite an impressive group but the early workload has me worried.

I'm simply saying they could be 1 or 2 arms (starter and/or closer) away from really making a spash.

I love all the off season additions, but there is still too little confidence in our pitching staff. When our bats get on point I know we'll be slamming again with run support. I'd love nothing more than that - trust me I'm an Angels fan through and through and wanna see Mike Trout play in the World Series haha.

I was at the angels yankee game. It was all yanks fans. Why can't angel fans show up? What's funny is I saw Aaron judge at Roscoes chicken and waffles after the game.

Cubs starters are finally starting to turn it on. Q was wonderful yesterday. Let's go for the sweep today!

The Mets could use Adrian Gonzalez on the mound today if needed in the case of a blowout. I guess the deGrom and Thor and hope for a downpour mantra is real even among the Mets field/upper management.

Seriously, it's Ok to have these things laid out behind the scenes as a "what if" plan of sorts but don't announce it publicly especially given what is actually happening with the starting rotation outside of the top two and the team being on the verge of losing their 4th consecutive series thus making that 11-1 start feel like a long time ago.

Now combine that with the backend of the bullpen and you have a recipe for disaster over 162.

The 11-1 start sure was uplifting but if you looked a bit deeper how they were winning those games in combination with how they have looked over their last 13 games and reality sets in rather quickly. That offense will never be consistent enough to overcome the deficiencies in the front-loaded rotation and the late-inning relief core will let them down far too often to help offset anything.

The team is amazingly flawed.

God, the sheer number of injuries this year has been shocking. It's been a real test of the depth. Pretty incredible to still have pushed up to the best record in the NL.
