The only good part of season 4 was GOB.
Actually, this was the best part:

I'm looking forward to checking this out. The first time I watched season care for it as much until what they were trying to do became more apparent. The season is kind of peeled back like an onion. I found knowing how the season would unfold didn't help with those early episodes upon rewatch. Hopefully the remix will help out more overall.

They recut the season to be in chronological order instead of jumping around and focusing on one character at a time. New narraration also recorded to make it flow.

Season 4 focuses on one character for each episode and tells a non linear story. This is that season in chronological order, which likely means more, if not all, of the main cast will be in each episode.

Thanks guys, that sounds awesome.

I LOVED season 1-3 and binged watched them in a couple of weeks but I never finished season 4 cause it was so different.

Should I finish it now to see it one time and then watch the recut to get the "ahhhh" effect and understand things or should I wait for this cut?

I really liked season 4 but didn't like the first half of the season on my first watch. I recommend finishing it out, it really clicks by the end and the GOB/George Micheal episodes are some of the best in the series.

I really did not enjoy season 4 with how herky jerky it was. As someone who's worked in video production, it was infuriating to watch and just see obvious naked flaws all over the place.

I'll give the season 4 remix a try. Arrested Development is one of my favorite TV series of all time, it really bummed me out that I just couldn't get into the last season.

I enjoyed Season 4, but I will definitely be giving this remix a watch. Should be fun to see it cut together chronologically. I don't think it came together until the end, so I'm super curious about the new context in this reshuffled version. Excited for Season 5 as well.

rewatching from the start, on season 2 now, shit is still as fantastic as I remember and Bateman is a genius, I just fucking love his timing on everything.

Actually never saw S3 or 4 so this should be exciting.

Sounds great! I really enjoyed the GOB, Buster and Maeby episodes near the end but I could never force myself to sit through the boring first half of the season again.

Still don't know why they messed with the format in season 4. You can't improve on perfection.

I did not mind how it turned out, but i'm in the minority with that opinion.
Bad idea though to do that with an existing show, but the 'pieces being revealed to show the whole' can work really well, and I think they did ok.
I prefer it to having no new season.

I gave up on S4 after two episodes because it was too different, so hopefully this remix is more my sorta thing.

Just finished a rewatch of Seasons 1-3 so this is perfect timing. Actually haven't watched season 4 since it first aired so looking forward to this.

Because it would've been stale. The ending of season 3 sets up a soft reboot with basically the same plot really well-but that would've been pretty boring. I think choosing to ignore that and instead go in a new direction was a much, much smarter idea. I think forcing the characters to be separate also causes them to grow in ways that are much more interesting than if they were are all together. I think it'll still be cool having a more standard season with season 5, but I think causing the characters to go through some changes first will make it that much more interesting. I really think that the majority of season 4's problems are not because of the nonlinear, one character at a time format-they're because of some messier, more technical issues. The earlier episodes are too long with some overly long scenes (this is especially noticeable with some celebrity cameo scenes), there's too much narration (Ron Howard now being a story character compounds this issue), there's some bad greenscreening, there's a few issues that make it hard to keep track of the timeline (George Micheal celebrates Maeby's 16th birthday an episode before the season 3 finale, but the two are suddenly the age to go to college in events that chronologically happen shortly afterwards-this wouldn't really be an issue, but show wants you to solve a mystery while watching it, so screwing up timeline details like this makes it harder to do that), and 2-4 characters (George Sr., Lindsay, and maybe Tobias and Micheal) didn't have enough material for two episodes.

I do wonder how the remix will affect one of the better gags of season 4: the slow reveal that the characters actually were strongly impacting each other's stories without knowing it. For example, the gag that Lindsay, Tobias, and Maeby all separately went to the same part of India is one of the better jokes in their episodes, but that probably won't make as much sense in chronological order.

I'm just wondering how they managed to turn 15 episodes into 22. Even with new voice overs that doesn't suddenly create over 2 hours of new footage.

is the Mayonegg scene improvised or something? Cera's delivery and Bateman's reaction are both so good.

The remixed episodes are up in Canada but now I'm wondering whether or not to do a full series rewatch. First thing I noticed is every episode is 22-23 minutes long.
