Tracy's not a mean dude. He's loving life. He didn't want to fight Earn and went easy on him. Didn't boast about whoopin him in the car none either. Good guy Tracy.

Edit: yeah he stole that gun from the frat, but they were confederates so he did good as far as I'm concerned.
He also pushed a girl down the stairs for acting up and throwing a drink on Al. She'd likely break her neck if Earn wasn't there.

Tracy might be ignorant and careless...but he isnt a bad dude.
Earn should have confronted them earlier about how he really feels about the current entourage setup.

Brian Tyree Henry is doing amazing work every week. He conveys so much about Albert's depression through just his eyes and shoulders; it's a remarkable performance.

Dang I forgot about that. Shows my bias. Hmm I need to rewatch the episode again, but he pushed her forehead in a dismissive, get out of my face kind of way if I recall. So he's definitely reckless and inconsiderate, and those traits can hurt those around him. If Earn wasn't there she could've been badly hurt. But so far I don't see him as malicious.

Absolutely, there's a lot of nuance in his mannerisms and expressions. Like the way he can look like he's "over it", but during certain scenes there's also shades of deep sadness, or sometimes there's bemusement. I think he at least deserves an Emmy nom.

Yeah, I don't see him as malicious either, but to me that makes his recklessness even more dangerous to be around, haha.

Yeah, that also reminds me of when he was playing with that Civil War era pistol and pointed it at Earn and pretended to shoot. OK Tracy is fucking dumb in a dangerous way lol

I can relate to Earn with that L.

Being so focused on how someone else is wrong, you don't see all the ways you're fucking up. Holy shit, that was probably my second or third favorite episode of the season. I was missing the group stuff.

Hiro Murai directed the last two episodes of Barry (5 and 6) on HBO. He's killing it.

Earn's introduction to Tracy was Tracy taking him to a mall where Tracy shoplifts and sets Earn up with stolen gift cards. Malicious or not, he's consistently fucking Earn over.

No one is forcing Earn to do anything...Tracy isnt really concealing what kind of guy he is. Earn is supposed to be the smart one yet acts like an idiot. Good luck on convincing someone that you can manage them if you cant even manage your own life.

I mean...Earn's the one that blew 4k he got from Darius on a gift card scam. That wasn't Tracy's fault.

Wouldn't be shocked at all if the grand arc of this show is about growing into fame and leaving others behind. Earn may never pull himself out.

Earn is the one who fucks himself up, nobody else. I'll just report what I said way back after the German episode:

...When I look at Earn, I see the worst parts of me and what could happen to me if I don't check myself. Earn went to a top tier university, Earn is smart, Earn has ambition, and Earn thinks he knows everything. But, Earn is also a failure who rarely follows through on his grand ambitions. As a result, he walks around constantly angry with a massive chip on his shoulder. Earn can never truly relax. He can't relax when he's with the boys at the club because he feels he's better than that shit. He may be black, but he isn't part of that hood life and never can be, he's too educated and thinks too highly of himself. However, when dropped into a more higher class situation he can't relax either because he feels he doesn't belong. Whether that be because of race due to being surrounded by white folk that don't understand him or through class because everyone else is so much better off than him that he feels outrageously jealous. So, Earn just stays angry all the time and makes passive aggressive comments about everything because he's truly angry at himself for allowing himself to be in the situation he's in.

His blow up has nothing to do with the trip and everything to do with him not having complete control over his life. Earn is the perfect representation of Middle Class and up black folk that feel out of place in either world.

Earn always wants to blame someone else for his failures and fuck ups. It's Tracy's fault they got into all that shit, it's Tracy's fault he got scammed out of money, it's Van's fault his relationship is a mess, everyone else is at fault except for him. And, this episode he finally got called out on his shit and he KNOWS that Alfred is right. That's why he can't even argue against it, he has to walk away. Because, that's how Earn operates. When he gets the real truth he can't dispute, he runs away from it. He doesn't want to confront it, he chooses to ignore it and just move on. And, that's why he finally flips his shit when they get back to the place and he finds his laptop is missing.

In the back of his mind he's thinking, "fine, tonight was bad, but I'll make it up to Alfred, you'll see. He'll see I'm a good manager." But, with his laptop gone he knows he's done. That laptop is how he conducts his business. He can't manage without it. And, to lose it with his cousin watching is just pure embarrassment. He's in pure desperation mode after that because his entire future is on the line. But, it's gone and he can't get it back. So, when they have to leave he has to take his anger out on someone. It can't be his fault that he lost everything. It has to be Tracy. Remember, Earn constantly walks around with a massive chip on his shoulder. If he can just whoop Tracy's ass then he can at least feel like a winner somehow, that he's not a complete fuck up. Of course, Earn gets his ass whooped. His utter failure complete.

One can hope that by the end of this season Earn is robbed of his warped reality where he's never the problem.

I've been curious about this, but being in the UK and not having Sky, would have to jump through hoops to catch it. No longer!

BBC2 acquires Donald Glover's FX series Atlanta

Should be able to catch it when it's on 2. Given it's the first series, I'll still be behind, but it's a good chance to get an opportunity to see it.

Caught up with this season last night in preparation for the episode (finale?) tonight. This is my favorite show on TV right now. I've lived in Atlanta or suburbs around the city my whole life though, so I'm probably biased. I actually saw Donald Glover out in Edgewood a few months ago. I think most folks there recognized him, but I didn't see anyone approach him. Thought that was pretty cool and probably a relief for him.

There another episode next week. I'll miss this show (again).

Finally had a chance to see last weeks episode before this one aired. Watching Earn take those L's were rough. Especially with him losing the fight. Got fired, got his laptop stolen, got his ass beat. With this show I have to wonder if he'll even get a redemption and some wins in the future.
