Maeby was missing from entire episodes in the first run, as was Tobias, IIRC. So isn't like it was unprecendented.

Watched the first episode, kind of gave me a headache with all of the cuts and the green screen. I don't remember it being this bad the last time I watched it.

hopefully they fixed the voiceover constantly talking over the actors, was annoying as hell.

Still waiting for it to drop in Japan, I hope it'll appear in the next few hours.

Oh fuck me, I watched the episodes title E#: Original and was wondering why it didn't seem different at all. Welp, at least I'll know the differences now.

Just finished Episode 1 Remix. Definitely a lot better than the Episode 1 original. Laughed a lot too.

A good sign so far.

I feel like arrested development finally got a season 4 and it's fantastic so far. What amazing things editing can do.

I remember when s4 premiered I stayed up the entire night watching it front to back. I'm starting to think I may do the same with this.

Finally finished watching the Remixed Episode 1. By god, the difference is staggering. I actually laughed out loud a couple of times.

The only weird part is that they made the green screen effects wooooorse, but I think that's to go for the intentional "cheap" effect?

Man, I'm only on episode 2, but it seems like there's a bunch of new stuff. I guess just footage from when they filmed it that they didn't get to use in the original version. Scenes running a little longer, stuff like that. I dig it.

Yeah, also on episode two, the flow of this feels a lot better (as I mentioned before, several years removed from the original cut), even with longer scenes and such.

Also, the line, "Oh, I thought you were hair" is too incredible.

I wasn't expecting old season 4 to be totally gone. I don't remember the original very well and now I can't compare.

Im really surprised how well this is working so far, 4 episodes in. It's flowing really well, and I feel like there are additional scenes that weren't there before? It wasn't that long ago I rewatched this, and I definitely don't remember some of this stuff here.

So far thumbs up

The fox watermark is terrible. The green screen made me laugh pretty hard though. It was like a Dr. Seuss early 2000s movie.

This season still feels much more tell than show even with the recut. Seems like Ron Howard is narrarating literally everything that happens on screen and off. Definitely a consequence of not having all the actors together.

Just had a quick look, is there no way to watch the original on Netflix anymore? I was thinking of doing a rewatch before watching final remix but I couldn't find it.

I've only seen two episodes but you can totally tell these are completely different episodes edited together. It's also a bit hard to sometimes tell when a scene is taken place but maybe that's just 'cus it's been, like, ten years since I've seen season 3.

On episode 7, REALLY enjoying it.

The sound mix alone is so much better. As is the editing.

The green screen effects are the same. They were always that bad.

Give it an episode, first one is very narration heavy.

It gets better.

That's my only problem so far.

I find these new episodes much tighter and funnier, but I'm having a harder time figuring out where in the timeline things are happening in comparison to the original Season 4.

In episode 2 or 3 when most of the family's in the room the editing is more obvious because the color grading is off. Some shots are cooler and some are warmer.

The muffled audio of "Hello Darkness my old Friend" when Gob was in the boulder made me laugh out loud... don't remember that being in the original edit.

What's with the "Fateful Consequences" stamp though?

That wasn't there, and it made me laugh out loud as well.

The double Hello Darkness with GOB and Tobias in ep3 gave hte same reaction.

The color grade in general is really bad. When you see the old S1-3 stuff, the colors are way more natural. Skin tones, etc. Everything is yellow in the new one. When they're side by side, it's even worse.

This is miles better than the other format. It sort of feels like they trimmed down the fat/slow parts. It also feels way more fast-paced like S1-3.

I think that was one of the main things missing from the OG S4 format. The series was always known for its rapid-fire wit and it can be a bog when an episode focuses solely on one character.

I wonder if media outlets are going to re-review this

I saw the first two episodes and I think the original season 4 flowed better. These episodes are all over the place, and like someone said above, they seem cobbled together.

I'll still power through but right now I'm not very impressed

This came out on Cinco de cuatro!

But yeah, this is weird.

On episode 2 and I definitely liked the first version better.

On Episode 10, it's falling into a bit of a lull with some circular storytelling.

One thing that this needs credit for, keeping 'dickhead Michael' held back a lot more. In the OG edit, he's a fucking prick right away and it starts the series off on the wrong foot. And then you jump right into the worst storyline (George Sr.). As this is, George's story has less pressure on it - and it's more interesting when you're getting it in smaller chunks.

But still...the SOUND MIX...my God. It's so much better.
