Honestly, I'm more interested in how the MCU will handle the discrimination/racism angle of the X-men. By that I mean the discrimination of the Mutants while other superpowered humans are celebrated. Will the movies drop this angle or somehow make it work although it never did in the comics?

Feige finds a way.

Its not the same to me. The Avengers are celebrities who saved New York. Some random people with powers would be far more intimidating. Plus, none of the humans have been born with their powers yet.

Apparently they screened Deadpool 2 for international press and the
baby Hitler scene
is gone. Damnit. Maybe it's just for the international version.

It's really not difficult. Same as the comics.

The paranoia that your neighbor can wake up in the morning with the ability to shoot lasers out of their eyes is gonna scare the shit out of most people. The Avengers are individuals that got their powers through freak accidents, technology, and/or rigorous training; they're not a prepubescent child with absolutely no idea how to control their newfound gift, and that would cause a lot of panic and worry.

Hell, as is, the Avengers aren't exactly completely celebrated by the public. They have their detractors too.

The impetus for the Accords in Civil War was distrust of The Avengers, so it's easy to have that get heightened when there are a bunch of people developing super powers.

To the those that have been partaking in the MCU Character Poll, we're down to the Sweet 16.
Hero Side:
Iron Man vs Spider-Man
Dr. Strange vs Star Lord
Rocket vs Thor
Okoye vs Black Widow

Villain Side:
Ego vs Red Skull
Klaue vs Hela
Loki vs Thanos
Vulture vs Nebula

More on topic:
I am really interested in seeing how they tackle mutants. If they've always been there, or if its all new. I do wonder if they'll rest the X-Men for a bit but start introducing mutants and some of the key players early on in other films first.

Ahhhhhhh I can't decide between Iron Man and Spidey! Spidey is my favorite SH, but Iron Man is my favorite MCU character. Fuck!

Part of me is very confused and conflicted.

I'm kind of disappointed we don't get to see what Brie would look like with that sort of short haircut but at the same time, I always thought Carol looked better with long hair.

As long as she's not wearing that stupid mask I don't care what her hair is doing.
I'm actually pretty fond of it when it does show up. Its a shame she doesn't wear it more often.

That said, I don't think you'll have to worry about it showing up. its something that I think they want to phase out of the look.

A pretty good explanation. I like it.

Another poignant one is that racism is essentially illogical. People don't need a reason to hate and fear mutants, other then fear and propaganda.

Yeah I never understood the difficulty especially because - as the poster above said - racism is illogical. The main challenge IMO would be how to seamlessly and elegantly portray that on the big screen in a relatively short period of time. I trust Feige and friend though.

Open up the first X-Men movie with a kid Cyclops accidentally blowing up his orphanage with giant eye blasts and you immediately set the tone. There's a huge difference between untrained kids suddenly gaining powers en masse around the globe and a handful of soldiers, spies, and scientists with extraordinary abilities.

This is how I picture the next marathon playing out. Skipped this year's so thought I'd plan out the next one.

Only a first draft, so any ammendments that need making, shout up!

I'm in for this. I didn't do it for IW because that wasn't the end of Phase 3. Glad we are skipping the TV side because I'm not sure that's really part of the movie side to be honest. I think you should add the comics tie in though.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Cinematic_Universe_tie-in_comics

At least I'm gonna read them leading up to Avengers 4. BTW, does anyone know if those comics are all on Marvel Unlimited service?
