This is so much more watchable.. I forgot how much I loved binging AD and this re-cut just flows so nicely. I think I'm already 5 episodes in lol.

Some of these alternate takes are uncomfortably noticeable...
How many times did I re-watch the original Season 4?

Damn I forgot how funny this show was. Going to rewatch the whole series because I pretty much forgot everything after S4.

The recut flows so much better. However, there are too many small inconsistencies and moments where there just needed to be an extra scene or two to compliment the cuts.

This gives me hope for a very good season 5 though.

idk, I'm not really feeling this as much as I felt the original season 4. This feels really thrown together so far.

Jesus Christ, only 2 episodes in and the cut is 100% better, more so even. It's the season 4 we all wanted, as if they didn't skip a beat. This cut compared to the experimental version from before demonstrates the power of editing.

Seeing cameos from up and coming actors is incredible. Pretty sure I just saw Hasan Minhaj there.

The same thing happens in the originals. Armie Hammer and a decent chunk of the cast of The Office are in very small roles (Ed Helms and John Crasinski get more obvious cameos in season 4 though).

Some parts of this desperately needed another color correction pass (specifically when everyone met at the apartment early on). And holy shit that CG add-in of Lucille 2 at the end of episode 1 wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

But this cut also removed those stupid, idiotic, incredibly arbitrary Facebook message sound-effects they randomly inserted to prank the audience, so it's at least a solid 8/10. (at least, I'm only at episode 3, so who knows)

The Lucille and Buster smoking gag isn't any shorter in this edit, but they've somehow made it even more awkward/incredible.

I completely forgot about the Border wall joke in season 4. They were really ahead of their time.

General episode 2 impressions:
-The narration was noticeably lighter towards the end! That's great
-George Sr.'s plot seemed better paced when GOB and Buster have scenes around it
-GOB's still fucking hilarious and in a depressing place
-Did they add audio cues for the silent woman? I think that helps the gag a bit, I didn't notice them previously
-Adding the audio cue for GOB in the boulder was a nice touch
-I felt like this episode made Buster's timeline a bit clearer
-Ann is still really hot for a character that's supposed to be bland

On episode 20, this is leading up to a much better ending than the OG cut.

Ending on GM punching Michael was a good ending, but not to the season that was building towards a 'murder mystery'.

My eyes hurt. I think I'll watch 21/22 tomorrow. But this has been really good. Some episodes drag in the middle - but overall, this is a much more approachable version of the story.

Building to cinco like this is such a better ending, feels like it's building towards a new season by showing us what the cast was up to between S3 and S5. rather than being the same story, but fragmented so it didn't build the way it should have.

Just did as well.

Such a better cut. Made me appreciate a lot of the jokes more. Still had to skip over almost every single Tobias scene since I still can't stand his character for more than a few minutes.

But man did this season really made me hate a lot of the characters I already hated. Maeby, Joe, and Lucille are still my favorites.

Damn, I had forgotten about this. I remember really enjoying some episodes and arcs, but I was overall quite cold on the season, preferring 3, for instance. It seems that this makes it better? Nice.

I'll start rewatching the whole show in preparation for the new season.

Season 4 was grueling. There's a reason lots of critics compared it with Ulysses and it wasn't meant as a compliment.

Too structurally weird and experimental. I know AD's big thing is building up context to a big payoff later on and riffing on that over and over in increasingly clever self-reflexive ways but S4 was the nadir of that technique for me personally.

So I welcome any effort at taming that shite.

I'm excited for season 5 tho. Sort of. I think I am.

Still not up in Japan, I wonder if the lack of subtitles someone mentioned has something to do with it.

Are the original seasons up? I don't have Netflix here but as far as I know the show didn't get a release here outside of airing on an ill-fated Fox network for a bit as 「ブル〜ス一家は大暴走!」
Original seasons are there. Always have been as far as I know. I've been checking through the day and it seems like it might not be coming unless it hits over the weekend or something

Yes, the first 3 seasons plus the original S4 are here. I think there's a requirement for the shows to be at least subtitled, to be available on regional Netflix, so maybe it will take some time for it to come here.

I don't remember much from Season 4 so this is a must for me.

"Honey, Daddy needs to get his rocks off" is still one of the best jokes I've ever heard in my life.
