I'm not ready for the best show on television to leave me once again

At least they didn't go with the "bringing a gun to school" route.

I was mentioning this to my sister the other day. But apparently he is a theater actor and still consistently does stuff. Still would have been cool to see him in a movie at the same time as the others.

For sure, gotta hurt lowkey. Like seeing classmates get accepted to college before you

Yep. Absolutely. To have the show even have a special slot to air the commercial for one of the movies and the other two getting regular placement in the show you are a star for seems like it would be irritating.

Started googling this before I remembered the phrase and where it comes from lol. If I had to guess, I would guess Earn screwing over Paper Boi. Or maybe Clark County

Now that you mention it, the actor who plays Clark County did an interview about the studio episode with Complex back in March and said this:

Ah pretty interesting. Hadn't seen that video before. I was thinking about when Clark County was in the sound studio with Paper Boi and they were talking about the endorsements and Clark County was saying how only one could get it and he had to get it. That, the video you linked, the fallout with Earn, and Paper Boi talking to the other manager makes it seem like the writers can easily have Paper Boi getting screwed over by him somehow.

So ... how much of the blame for that turn goes to Earn. I'm sure both of them still carry that with them to some extent.

I've been doing a lot of childhood reflecting lately and having those "oh ... that was actually kind of fucked up" moments.

The lesson of this episode was something I would've loved to have gotten as a kid, that I probably didn't learn to appreciate until like the last 2 years. Doubt I would've listened back then. I did appreciate the detail of the girl that didn't want to do work.

Anyone get why that girl with the headache was suddenly so happy to participate in that last scene in class?

Bipolar perhaps? Point is, we just don't know what goes on in other people's lives, just like Earn and the bullies didn't know shit about Devon's life.

Good point, I thought something darker, after that earlier post about her possibly being pregnant. But I like your take better lol

Twitter keeps going on about her black and maybe her being abused at home, but I didn't see or get that, but I don't really have an alternative. I just remembering knowing people like that, and never even asking what was up with them.

For my sanity I hope my take is the right one lmao

Man, what I would give to go back and just do it all over, but right this time.

But then the second my mom wakes me up on a Saturday to go to Home Depot, it's like "nah, I'm good."

For me it was SYMS. Fucking hated SYMS.

My dude really said "no one even noticed I've worn this shirt twice this week". That was the line of the night for me. I didn't have the brand issue. But I could relate to getting (what you thought was) a fresh outfit and being excited to wear it the next day.

When my mom started giving me haircuts was probably a sign that money was tight (didn't realize it then), but lucky enough I never got capped on for it. I appreciate her trying, but I don't understand why she didn't let me just grow it out.

For such a surreal show it's consistently hyper realistic, this episode especially.

Man, even them old ass lunch lady dudes was smiling in Earn face low key clowning smh lol

Alfred really has been looking out for Cousin Earn his whole life. These characters are so fucking good.

School in the south man. I remember the first day I git to pick out my own clothes. I got roasted. Kids really do put a lot of weight on some bullshit. Just like adults tbh. It's all the same.

This episode gave me so much anxiety because i went through this all through middle school. Not having the money for certain brands...kids are ruthless.

Whole episode was a flashback to middle school for me, especially 7th and 8th grade. Every interaction felt real from Earn wanting to have fresh clothes for school, to the dude getting punched out on the bus, to the roasting session, and class clown getting at the substitute teacher. I had all of those kids in my class.

Actor who played young Earn had his cadence down pat. The watching the clock and anxiety he felt waiting for the bell to ring and he could get on the bus was great.

That kid laughing when he heard that other kid killed himself is way too real. I was always amazed as how little empathy kids had in school.

As adults too. Just look at the BCC thread, everyone is in there bullying the elderly.

The casting of the kids was so good.

School was fucking brutal man. Did so much regrettable shit just to stay afloat and out of the crosshairs of other folks.

I was just thinking about school a few days ago and went "We were fucking monsters, man."

Expecting the worst out of the next episode

This episode is painful. Christ, school sucked. Also, the kid they got for this role really has Glover's cadence and mannerisms down.

Edit: Great episode, but a painful one, like most of them this season. Can't believe it's done for the season next week.
