Thanks. So does he usually do these editorials at the start then?
Sorry I meant 01:36:00, so one hour thirty six minutes in xD

That's an 1 hour, 36 minutes. Editorial is always last.Thanks. So does he usually do these editorials at the start then?
You can just scroll to somewhere near the end (you can tell when the music changes). The entire episode is over 2 hours, so it looks like Youtube isn't done processing it yet so timestamps are iffy.Thanks. So does he usually do these editorials at the start then?
Haha thanks.
oh right, I thought that time was offYou can just scroll to somewhere near the end (you can tell when the music changes). The entire episode is over 2 hours, so it looks like Youtube isn't done processing it yet so timestamps are iffy.
What the flying fuck? I really don't know if I wanna listen to that... good on Jones for apparently tackling that well though. I just don't understand. So no one is surprised, the CoJ editorial goes over a disturbing comment that he got about dog killing. He reads the entire comment and then unpacks it a little and then moves on to other stuff. Just wanted to warn people in case they decide to watch through it.
You should give it a listen. Its such a textbook example of how you should handle and reply to an individual like that. What the flying fuck? I really don't know if I wanna listen to that... good on Jones for apparently tackling that well though. I just don't understand.
Thanks!Greg and Jones have a lot of chemistry and it's fun having Jones on another element. Good watch so far
I don't think that's correct, I'm at 1:40:00 and it hasn't happened yet. I saw someone else say it was around 2:17:00 but don't want to fast forward to check. Try around then.
How you doin'?

Thanks for the spreading the good word about King's Batman. Online communities I frequent trash on it too much ):
That was a great talk you had with Jones, I'm not into comics and especially not into Superman but I still enjoyed your POV about what makes him great as opposed to what makes him boring.
I dont get it. Cup Of Jones starts at the 41th minute fpr some reason and i cant go earlier..?
Yeah it did that for me too. Just skip until you hear a music change. For me the Editorial was at 2:17:18I dont get it. Cup Of Jones starts at the 41th minute fpr some reason and i cant go earlier..?
Brandon Jones is a real one. Listening to his editorial really makes me feel as though Jones is someone who can teach a lot. I certainly hope that the person who asked that question learns from this.
Youtube freaks out if a stream is over 2 hours long. It's processing in the background, though, and if you go back in a couple of hours, you should be able to see the entire video.I dont get it. Cup Of Jones starts at the 41th minute fpr some reason and i cant go earlier..?
I think there's just no reason to comment on who specifically it was, I wish people would listen to and treasure what Jones said, which was frankly EXCEPTIONAL, more than trying to shame and insult the culprit. So are people scared of mentioning the users name here that made the comment? Its diamondcrusador and has a track record of being a total just horrible person from what I am hearing.

Sad to see more examples like this pop in the community
Edit: Cant fanthom why that user would believe that to be something okay to say, cant imagine being someone like Jones and being able to handle someone ever mentioning threatening anyone close to you

He does. And Jones offered it today in a genuine and great way. That is all that truly matters.

It's a long-running bug with the app that livestream posts don't appear in the feed. You have to view patreon via browser.I don't know what's wrong with my Patreon app but I received a notification for Cup of Jones but nothing appears in the feed. And my rss podcast feed doesn't show it either.

Ah! Thanks for letting me know - it was driving me crazy seeing that notification count and nothing appearing. I'll login via web! It's a long-running bug with the app that livestream posts don't appear in the feed. You have to view patreon via browser.

I think his main point was that the question wasn't okay, he wanted to see where the boundary was and yeah he went waaay too far and then some. I think dark comedy is fine but it belongs in tight-knit communities or friendships that you know for sure are okay with that level of edginess. Clearly a community like EZA is not one of those places. However this guy is a great example of a larger issue we face in the internet age; people think that because they spend dozens or hundreds of hours watching people online or on TV or in movies it means they are friends with those people despite never even having a single one-on-one conversation with that 'celebrity', and thus they believe they have a close friendship that allows them to bring up intimate and line-pushing jokes or conversations.
I experienced something like this while working at FUNimation, I was doing some background lines late in the evening and when we took a break there was a girl in the lobby talking with the receptionist, saying she had driven 5 hours for an audition. FUNimation does not hold open auditions so this girl was clearly lying. But when the director of the show (J Michael Tatum, pretty big name in the English dub world) came out to the lobby the girl started to freak out; shaking, knees buckling, hands cupping mouth and chest, she looked like she was going to faint. The admirable thing was that Tatum calmly went up and helped the girl to a chair, telling her to calm down and eventually explaining how it wasn't okay that she just show up at his place of work. Clearly she meant no harm but FUNimation has had a few crazy and violent fans in the past that has led to certain security measures being implemented at their office and there was a chance this girl's actions could have ended up with someone getting hurt.
What I'm trying to get across is that we shouldn't attack, shun, or disparage Diamondcrusader at this point. We should talk to him and try to understand why he thought this particular comment was acceptable, and then help him understand that there are limits in this community. Jones did a fantastic job expressing this and we have to continue the sentiment that this is a learning experience and that we should have an open dialogue about this stuff, not attack individuals that may genuinely not understand how their comments can hurt other people.
(What's the patreon goal to have Jones do an instructional series about how to be so damn eloquent? Seriously, that guy has a talent)
It's an online community, you're going to have people who are socially challenged
Just because they wrote something dark doesn't mean they're a psycho, it just means they cannot read the room and have a disconnect from what's appropriate or "funny" to write to people. Which is why Jones makes a genuine effort to try and explain it
You never know what people have going on in their personal lives that lead them to write dumb things or behave a certain way (say, spamming things in Twitch chat for instance) but when things cross over from annoyance to actual hurtful speech it becomes more of a pressing issue to tell them "hey, you think you're having fun but you need to stop"
The new Friend Code episode was really great. Never really could get into them before but man that made me look forward to the next one. Not too long, to the point, great integration of the questions, good interventions from Blood and Kyle, Damiani knew when to move on... I'm sure it helped that there was lot of substantial things to talk about, most of those subjects were interesting.
Great job Damiani.
Just to clarify I didn't mean it as a defense or to say they didn't need help, just to steer away from "this person is actually dangerous based on weird comments" to "this person is looking for reactions/attention and is lacking the perspective of how it reads to everyone else" (because all we have is weird shit being written online)I get what you're saying, but this isn't an isolated incident with this particular patron. He clearly needs professional help.
To be honest, I never had issues asking a friend this kind of questions and if someone asked it to me I wouldnt be offended. The thing is, the question comes from a total stranger by text comment so it is waaay harder to understand what that person actually meant. You dont know the tone, the person or anything, and because of that it bzcomes way more personal and can affect you way more sometimesI am probably a weird person as well in the regard of the question in the editorial, but I honestly wouldn't be upset about people asking the question like they asked Jones and I am not sure if it was meant as a way to attack Jones or not.
I would never ever ask it to somebody else and I totally understand why people don't like these questions (I also don't know why he asked it as he seemed to have known people would have a problem with it), but I am not sure it was meant to stir the pot.
I noticed it when my grandfather died. I certainly wish he didn't die and it's not like I was happy or anything like that at all, but it seemed I had a lot less trouble with dealing with it than the rest of my family.
I don't think I am a horrible person, but I honestly wouldn't mind people asking question about what I would do if family or friends of mine would die.
But again, it's not something you usually ask and certainly not if you don't know for sure the other person isn't ok with it.
I do feel for Jones having to deal with it as he clearly wasn't ok with it.
Hope I don't come over as a monster because of my thoughts about it, but yeah. I do feel for other people, but I think a question like this would make me personally just thing about it like I would most questions (I would be sad for sure), but as it's a hypothetical question it would probably not affect me too much.
Some people have less trouble with dealing with death than others I guess.
I am honestly not feeling to good about my self that I don't have as much trouble with it than most people.
And yeah, Jones handled it very well. Kudos to him as it was clear that question was a lot for him to handle.
Dudes a troll. Continuing to give them a platform is only going to encourage more trolling but it seems like Jones is no longer going to tollerate it atleast. Atleast we got a good editorial out of it. Jones is good people.
I totally agree. It should never have been asked here and I don't really understand why anybody would ask something like that.To be honest, I never had issues asking a friend this kind of questions and if someone asked it to me I wouldnt be offended.
