Man, how are people going to feel having to go back to the pre-MHW mechanics and controls?

Ever crazier, how are players that began with World going to react to the revelation that the series did not always play that way?

I'm just happy that I can play a "new" Monster Hunter with a more substantial endgame and more than 30 large monsters.

I put hundreds of hours into the old games, so I'm fine losing the QoL stuff. Biggest loss for me is the ability to fire of SAED without losing red shield.

I remember once going back to MHF2 from MHFU because a dude in Adhoc Party had the former but not the later.
Losing the QoL improvements a mere G upgrade provided was slightly painful.
Going to pre MHW QoL levels might surprise some.
Expecting comments like "Where's the fucking weapon tree?", "Why no downgrade for this weapon I wanted to try?", "What is this combination failure rate bullshit?", etc.

People hate on Capcom but I think that there's not any other company that is as good as them at iterating and polishing an existing formula.

Absolutely agree. I am excited to see what they improve and add. May only be a few things, but I can't remember them ever not getting in there and cleaning up a few little bits while they can.

I'm expecting a lot of whining in the MHXX OT when that pops up, hehe
People that will buy GU will either be people that didn't play World or people that knows what to expect.
I don't know why people need to bash GU to make World look better, it is petty.

I started with MH: World, and I get the distinct feeling I shouldn't try the older games because I might freak out now.

I'm not bashing GU. I'm just recalling my earlier experience with a version downgrade and predicting people may have similar feelings.
GU is a product of the time it was developed in as is MHFU which I still love even with all its clunkiness from today's perspective.

Are they ever going to fix the HDR issue where the screen is too damn bright with it enabled? Game looks better without it enabled on a 4K HDR set and that's just wrong.

came to show off my loot gaming MH Jawblade that just came in from last month's lootbox. Everything else was rubbish and I'll never buy a lootbox again but this month was worth it for this cool little replica.

450 hours, 72 rank 8 gems, 1500 save scum entries, 1 attack gem (+1 story). Yup.

Can't wait to try MHGU, was just thinking about importing XX the other day.

Finally started playing this, my first Monster Hunter as well

After trying all the available starting weapons in the training area, settled on the Insect Glaive. It was either that, the Slicers, or the Buster Sword. The blend of the stylish acrobatic maneuverability and ranging capabilities made the Glaive the winner for me

Does every weapon in MHW have a unique moveset or is it by class? (ie every hammer weapon has the same moveset as the Iron Hammer, every Glaive has the same attacks, etc.)

Every weapon in a class will have the exact same movset. There will be some slight variations between weapons, like different types of Gunlances will have different properties, different Hunting Horns have different songs, or different heavy Bowguns will have one of two special moves, but other than that the actual moves are the same.

By class. If you are choosing glaive do try to use the insect extracts or you'll be nerfing your damage output.

I recommend watching arrekz tutorial videos for the IG. I watch any of his videos for weapons I'm interested in before trying them.

So you mean it's garbage because it's all one piece?

Lmao, jewel it! unless you're really that hung up on not customizing, these armors are not useless.

Ryu LR is the only useless one.

HR Ryu Get!

Not bad, but Sakura was definitely a more thought out build. like, the skills they threw together for this armor set are random at best compared to Sakura who fit together perfectly. this will take some work to make a good armor set out of this, but it's an okay base overall.

The fact that these skills were thrown together like this, the fact were fighting nergigante instead of blue rathalos, the fact that theirs an HR Ryu but not Sakura really suggests this armor set had some changes last minute.

I've finally lost control of my life. After 70 Vaal kills without the giant crown, I've resorted to sniping.

I hope the tempered elder track event comes back soon, because I'm burning through these things fast.

So the Nergigante for the Rya alpha set seems to be scaled to solo? At least playing solo... 2 KOs in under 2 minutes when I only get 1 before it dies against the previous nergi challenge quest. This one also dies way faster and staggers more. Has anyone attempted it in a group? How do the thresholds and health look?

Having trouble with double Bazel quest.

No ear plugs, just made the Pulsar electric bow even tho I usually go dual blades. Just let them fight each other right?

Pretty much, yeah.

What worked for me was to actually chase them both off. Because if they're going to fight each other while you're around, you're in constant danger. So I threw poop at their faces and they both went to the swamp area. (I admit I got lucky here.) At that point I could just go harass Kelbi and gather materials while they attacked each other.

Within a few minutes the first one was limping and went to Rathian's nest to sleep, so all I had to do was pop the capture trap. The second one took a bit more effort since apparently the first one had failed to inflict real damage. But as long as you keep your distance, you should be good. Its ramming attacks are actually survivable; it's the bombs that hurt since it drops so many of them.

I also used the Tobi bow. It wasn't even the final upgrade, but it still worked quite well. If you got the mats, you could craft the Azure Rathalos coil for the Piercing Shots skill (only the alpha coil has it) and try to fire Dragon Piercers over the length of its body. Since its body is long and its weak points huge, that will wreck it.

Kushala's one of the worst ones to have to hunt for because he's such an anemic little bitch, even the giant crown one I got just kind of looked like a normal (underfed) dragon.

Anything special this week except for Ryu HR? Which quest do I need to farm to get that btw?

Any new easy crowns with this weeks events?

I'm new to MH with World and I'm not even going to entertain the thought of going back to an older version, even if MH on the move sounds like fun.

Basically yeah. Stand back and let them fight and pick up the pieces - dung one (the stronger one if you can) when they turn their attention to you and go mad with the bow. They should be down in no time.

That sounds good or maybe you're just too good.
