The earlier seasons of Gotham when they clearly didn't have access to the bigger villains to fill up episodes... oh man lol

Fantastic interview with Cameron Monaghan. His inspirations, his favorite Joker, his thoughts about Jerome and Jeremiah.

He also confirms what I said in a previous post, he's definitely channeling some Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter in his Jeremiah performance. :)

If Ecco was hypnotised by Jarvis Tech and became that some kind of proto Harley Quin...

Could it mean that Jeremiah was hypnotised too by Jarvis Tech only to become / replace Jerome after his death?

Thoughts on the season? I really enjoyed S2, but just wrapped S3 on Netflix and thought it was a total mess.

Waiting for this to arrive on the service, but how has it been?

Things get much better from there on out imo. Totally felt the same way, you can probably see my first few posts after starting to watch again a few pages ago lol. Finally caught up and agree that this show has gotten so much better, especially in season 5.

Ive actually gone back and restarted season 1 lol. Its much better now that I have come to terms with what this show actually is.

Going back is funny because you can really see them struggling to have the series as it currently is in tone but feels like Fox, WB and DC didn't give them much room yet.
Proto-Venom and BalloonMan episodes were trying real hard to say were the tone was going lol.

Love it.

LOL I was literally just saying that in an earlier post... Gotham doesn't work if you don't give them Gotham related lore and characters... making up random shit in the vein of, is not the same

I know this isn't official but the interview reads like season 5 is a given

With two episodes left in Season 4, I spoke with Gotham EP/showrunner John Stephens about the "Joker" swap - the switch out that saw Jerome infect his sibling with a modified version of his madness - along with how the show's upcoming "No Man's Land" Season 5 reboot will affect Jim Gordon and the overall plans for ending the show with the arrival of Batman.

Yeah it sounds pretty good. I think if Gotham comes back, it's definitely going to another night.

So with this all being born out of the show not being able to portray the real Joker, we got confirmation that neither Valeska is the true Joker who will one day plague Batman. "Jeremiah is not the Joker," Stephens said. "The other characters are who they are. Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, etcetera. But no, he isn't the Joker. What we've always gone with is that Joker is somewhere out there, anonymous and unformed, in Gotham, and he's watching the actions of Jeremiah and Jerome and possibly even another one, on his way somewhere down the line, and he's adopting them as inspirations as the person he'll one day become."

For the love of fucking fuck.

Stop this.

Did anyone else watch tonight? The show really needs as much support as possible if we are even to hope for a season 5. I'm at work but will watch on the Fox app when I get home.

I don't know how this show does it. Every time I believe an episode can't be topped, the next one easily surpassed it.

Cameron Monaghan is Top Tier Joker. Yes. I said it. This guy is up there with the big guns. That episode ending was BRUTAL. Jeremiah was telling the truth, if he wants you dead, he just shoots you. No stalling, no jokes, no reasoning, no tricks or buying time. He just shoots you point blank.

And the preview for the season finale...

MY

GOD

Please. PLEASE let it be a Season 5!

Yeah, the producer can go screw himself.

Jeremiah is the Joker. Simply fantastic performance.

I watch live like 90% of the time despite recording it.
I just binge most of my shows together so I don't check threads till everything is over.

Damn, they straight up did Killing Joke... but different. Selina can't stay paralyzed though, so that's kind of a non threat.

Glasgow smile... let's put a SMILE... on that face!!! Alfred
Alfred wailing on Jeremiah
Bruce tending to his love's mortal wound

Ra's and Jeremiah temporarily alliance to get back at Bruce... fucking hell

Still waiting to hear Jeremiah's insane laugh... it's in there, but takes a lot to get it out of him

What a cliffhanger. Fuck me.

I love Jeremiah's dead eyes.

I was skeptical about Ra and Barbara's side story, but the writers really weaved that story in. Even scarecrow appearance. The only one missing is Mad Hatter.

Fox better renew this or there will hell to pay

What an awesome episode! Up there with the best the show has to offer. Jeremiah is a top tier Joker and the producers can go fuck themself with the "He is not the Joker" bullshit.

At first I thought Alfred would really do the glasgow smile, but then I remembered th gas and that the videos basically forces Bruce to see what he saw. Such a great scene though.

Man, I need next week and especially season 5. Renew this, god damn!

I have really enjoyed Cameron's interpretation of a Joker like person, but after awhile I have to say... at least for this version of Jeremiah Valeska... he is not The Joker I typically think of most of the time as the true classic interpretation

Yeah, I'm not seeing "Joker" with this version except for the look. He's not acting like Joker in any way. He's not quite losing it when things don't go his way the way Hamill would in TAS. He's just far too calm and subdued right now. Jerome was more Joker than Jeremiah is.

It sounds like if Lethal Weapon gets renewed, Gotham gets cancelled.

Of the bubble shows, Lethal Weapon is the priority as producers Warner Bros. TV are trying to hammer out a deal with a new star before Monday's upfront presentation. (Should that not work, Fox would renew the studio's DC Comics drama Gotham instead, sources say.)

Should either Lethal Weapon or Gotham earn a renewal, it would be the lone show hailing from an outside studio (Warner Bros. Television) on the network's scripted roster.

It's a good thing that Lethal Weapon is having to replace one of it's main leads. I don't know why Fox would ever pick a show that makes such a drastic change over a show like Gotham.

Though I don't know why they had to kill Brooklyn Nine-Nine either.

Keep our fingers crossed they don't find anyone.
Show will probably take a massive hit, why bother

Honestly if Gotham didn't get a 5th season that wouldn't be an entirely bad thing. The kid that plays Bruce isn't a good fit for a young Batman. A lot of story decisions like Riddler and Lee (yuck) and everything about The League and Barbara have left a bad taste in my mouth. If the showrunners can get Young Batman made on a different network with a new actor but keep the rest of the cast from Gotham, do a time skip, and erase Barbara and the current version of The League from canon, I would be pretty happy.

The kid who plays young Bruce has grown up some, and has his moments in earlier seasons, but he still is a hard sell for Batman.... the show would need to last 3 more seasons at least

I just plain don't like him at this point. He over acts so much that it becomes painful to watch.

David Masouz really grew on me as a teenage Bruce Wayne. He definitely has the looks and the attitude. When I see him, I definitely see a young Bruce. He has this dark aura around him and a very strong stare.

I hope they don't show Batman ever in the show. In this reality they can show Bruce starting his career very young without becoming Batman yet. I want him making more mistakes as a vigilante to show just how much he has to learn and grow.
