Face ID!! Face ID is so good, i usually wear a hat with longer hair covering half my face... and it still works flawlessly... its some serious magical sorcery.

And the camera... is fucking amazing.

I love the all glass build (fucking hated the aluminum back on my 6)

And i love the notch, it gives it a unique feel.

(Of course the whole thing feels magical compared to my iphone 6, i was running jailbreak ios 9.3.3 so this is my first experience with anything over ios10 lol)

I thought it was just the phone ring that got its volume reduced? You can test if attention aware is working by putting your phone on a table and staring at it. It shouldn't dim the backlight until you look away.

The text for this reads:
"TrueDepth camera will check for attention before dimming the display or lowering the volume of alerts."

I tried your test and it's working. Screen won't dim.

So I got this notification:

It's currently in China, and it says.

"Your package is in transit. We're updating plans to schedule your delivery. / The package will be forwarded to a UPS facility in the destination city."

Does that mean it's on a plane?

Actually using the phone honestly I like the notch. Eventually there may be nothing really differentiating the look of smartphones so it's nice it has some identity. I really prefer the look of it overall to the S8 and I wasn't expecting to.

This is the best upgrade to a phone since 3GS->4.

We had the iPhone 6 design for 3 straight years and the X is great. The notch is a non issue for me.

The power of the CPU in this thing is insane. I benchmarked it against my laptop with a Core i7 4600M, and the iPhone X was about 40% faster. Apple's CPU engineering team deserves major props.

I still remember the days when people freaked out about the notch. It's truly a non-issue and I think it actually adds to iPhone X visual identity.

Really wanted to get the Caudabe but then I stumbled upon the macrumors thread about the crystal version having no lip and immediately said NO ty. Using the black apple silicone case and it's pretty much perfect for what I want in a phone case. I don't need like rhinoshield thousand foot drop protections. Just need the goldilocks version (not too skinny or too thick) of protection for when I occasionally get clumsy or carless with my phone. Would be interesting to see how many caseless folks make it through the next 12 months. Living on the edddddge!

It's not that it's inherently irritating or massively impacts usage or anything, it mostly just looks stupid and is an odd design decision.

It's weird how multiple manufacturers these days seem fine with impacting screen uniformity and aspect ratios only to improve (or hamper) design identity (subjective). Not just stuff like the notch, but rounded edges on screens etc as well. With the iPhone X I can sort of understand, since the screen literally takes the shape of the device itself (though I still dislike rounded edges), but on the S8 I find it even more perplexing, since the bezel ends are still there, but they went with rounded screen corners anyway, simply for design identity.

Twitter links on ResetERA don't work for me on my mobile Safari. Anyone else? I whitelisted Twitter on Purify. Still, Twitter links don't load.

Got the caudabe clear case based on feedback in this thread and it looked like I got a used/flawed one. Strange colors spots on back I can't remove and a bazillion micro scratches. Support has already agreed to ship me a new one so hopefully I just got a bad one.

I think that's Apple fans in general, or simply fans who are heavily invested in any technology or product they've purchased. Personally, I still think Airpods are one of the most idiotic product designs I've ever seen, and whenever I see people wearing them I can't help but be a little amused. They really do just look like Apple earbuds with the wires cut off. And the way they dangle out like earrings or something just seems so bizarre and unintuitive. I'm genuinely surprised Apple of all manufacturers released them. Competitor designs of similar products are worlds better.

Not really, because their design is intuitive for what they are. Eg they have tips specifically to accommodate the cabling and its intended direction. A dangling nozzle on a wireless earphone just strikes me as incredibly lazy and peculiar design.

It's for the microphone. I don't particularly like their styling, either, for the record. Still better looking than those hearing aid ones. And they perform far, far better at a much cheaper price. I'd pay more for a better style.

So I have the Barclay apple card and they just emailed me about the deal they are Running through January for all card members, not just new ones. Up to 24 months 0 % free financing. Plus 3% cash back on apple purchases.

Wtf. Why would they wait a week after the X to do this as I used my amex to pay for it.

Now I need to decide if it's worth the hassle of returning my X to T-Mobile and trying to buy one through apple.

Yay my X is here, 10 days ahead of schedule, and as of this morning DHL said it'd be Monday but they lied..

Phone feels chunky compared to the 7.

Help needed.

I've backed up my old iPhone (6 plus) to iTunes with a full back and i restore it to the X. None of my apps have any settings or data at all?

I think if you whitelist Resetera itself it should be fine. I did have to force close Safari and restart it before it actually loaded, but I can load the Animoji Tweets on the previous page just fine now.

I will do a factory reset on the X tonight, set it alongside the old phone do it's things over night. Hopefully it all works in the morning.

I'm just puzzled why the iTunes backup/restore is broken honestly.

It's -11 right now in Toronto and that's not accounting for windchill. Phone works fine. I don't know if those concerns are still a thing.

Both the 8 and the X feel so good in the hand (ladies #flossy)

But having been using larger phones for a while - although the size of the X and potential for one-handed use is great...I feel like I'd be losing too much screen real estate, both browsing and especially on video.

Need an X+.
