okay, now I hope I'm wrong and the final scene of the series is a never-to-be-resolved cliffhanger of half the cast disintegrating due to something that has nothing to do with AoS' own storylines, because that would actually be kinda funny

How hard is it for you to accept that AoS is set in the MCU and has been since the first episode. Every single season has tied into whatever was happening in the movies at that time.

He's wrong. A quick search on Twitter shows that ManaByte is going on this based on what some random person said to him:

https://twitter.com/freshcleanjoey/status/995491262760407040

And a quick Google search shows multiple screen shots of Clark's Twitter dating back to 2014 and it says the same thing it says now.

And Chloe still has "Daisy Johnson from Agents of SHIELD" in her bio. Which leaves us at her changing her cover photo on Twitter, which is a bit of a stretch to make.

Not that the show couldn't be cancelled. But this is just Twitter nonsense.

It's not based on that person. I've been talking to someone I know who is actually working this weekend on the whole thing. There were multiple options on the table. Tonight it's not looking good, but they're still working through the weekend because the cast is getting frustrated without concrete news. They need to be able to book work in the fall now, but can't do that with the fate of the show in limbo. He says whatever happens there will still be some kind of Marvel presence on ABC.

This is what they said was on the table:
1. The first option is a short 10-episode mini-season on ABC or even possibly on Hulu.
2. The second option is to further cut down the number of episodes to 15 or 16 (this season was 22) and to continue to reduce the budget that way.
3. A third option isn't as clear as those, as it seems like there may be an idea for some kind of "spinoff" featuring some of the characters on a much smaller scale than the regular series.

this is such a silly, point-missing way of framing it. whether the show is officially considered MCU canon, which it is and all the other Marvel Television live-action shows are, has nothing to do with whether or not there is any meaningful coordination between Marvel Television and Marvel Studios

I'm not talking about you talking to a person or info you're saying you have. I'm talking about the Twitter stuff you were using as more evidence. That simply wasn't true so I pointed it out.

For the poor folks like me who haven't seen IW, please no open spoilers until a week or so after the finale. Then I can be done with the thread and you guys can talk about it all you want. A little consideration in the form of spoiler tags is all I ask.

But what if the finale spoils IW? Maybe you should see it before Friday.

I've been pinging them multiple times yesterday and today about it for updates. Got the possible options yesterday, and I guess they were in there LATE last night since the stuff about what Marvel wants came like at 2am this morning. But when I checked in tonight they said they didn't want to say anything because it's not confirmed yet, but tonight it's not looking good. They're still working on it though. And they added that ABC would have some kind of Marvel presence whatever happens.

Whatever happens as soon as a final decision is made, they'll try to get it to me.

Go see the movie man.
I'd like to, but I have no money right now. I'm waiting on a reply from a lender about a loan to get my car fixed. Keep an eye on your timing belt people. Apparently it can do a lot of damage.

But what if the finale spoils IW? Maybe you should see it before Friday.

In that event, I'm willing to take my licks. After having already been spoiled a bit in here and having read Infinity Gauntlet, I know a bit of what happens. I'd just like to minimize the damage. No way I can put off seeing this finale though...

I'm not sure that third option is all that great an idea when our flagship show, even, is pulling 0.4 and 0.5 ratings on Fridays as-is. Spinoffs of SHIELD don't exactly have a rosy record.

Still, if that's what we can get then by gosh I would take it. Hopefully the Marvel presence, if it can't be AoS, is at least tangentially tied.

...for the 8 episodes it's on the air...

Let's say Shield is canceled and there's going to be Marvel presence on ABC that isn't Shield; What's the point? Any new OTA Marvel will just end up being canceled like the other two shows - four if you include Damage Control or Most Wanted. If it isn't stream-able, then they shouldn't even bother with TBH. Sure, a new OTA Marvel show could theoretically take off to the moon, but I just don't see that happening.

I'm not sure Marvel would even want a "presence" on ABC. Agent Carter failed to attract a major fanbase and got cancelled (the fact that it was even renewed for a second season was considered a surprise). Inhumans was a disaster on all fronts. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a rough start and eventually formed into something that was beloved by fans and acclaimed by critics but failed to get the audience back. And the wider "snobbier" fanbase has long since sworn off the ABC shows and prefers the "prestige" Netflix shows; they're never coming back to ABC. That audience is lost.

All of ABC's Marvel experiments have failed in one way or another.

... Again, dude. I wasn't arguing with you about any of that. I'm not sure why you're responding to me with that.

I specifically replied only to your comments about Twitter bios, which you took from some random guy on Twitter. And it was wrong. That's all.

What would that even look like? I don't see how you get smaller in scale than this season...

BTW, don't believe any rumors people may be posting on Reddit or elsewhere about the finale. Just found out that even the whole cast may or may not know how it all plays out. The final stuff was a closed set with non-essential people barred.

Chloe mentioned she went back to film something secret recently (likely a stinger if they're coming back for some sort of s6)

On second thought Thanos taking care of Graviton would be too risky because

we know on some level his actions will be reversed. I'm confident they were told what happens in infinity war but unless the Russo brothers are taking control of the script there is no reason to explain Avengers 4 so early when even they might change some details during pick ups.

Upfronts are this week. So we'll know the fate by then probably. That explains why people are working through the weekend. They need an answer by Monday/Tuesday.
