Beat this like 2 weeks ago. Dying to replay this but would love a ng+ mode although that's clearly months away assuming they can manage to pull it off at all :(

How much time passed between GoW 3 and the game? If Tyr had an urn with Kratos and he supposedly died over 100 years ago, that would mean it's been a long time since GoW 3. Though maybe the whole slaughter / end of the Olympus gods set off Odin to become his paranoid and lore obsessed self?

Nothing concrete, but best guess is close to a 1000 years.

You can go super literal and place the destruction of the Colossus of Rhodes by Kratos to it's actual destruction by earthquake in 226 BC and then the Viking age is around 800 AD, but God of War is clearly set before the viking age, so somewhere in that timeframe.

Probably longer than 100 years considering he was traveling a lot when got the jar. I need to replay the game again, but I vaguely remember a bit where it implied Kratos spent most of his time wandering until he met Feye.

If they are planning a DLC, it's should be about Faye adventure before the main game. Will be nice to see her wrecking everyone with the leviathan AXE!!!

This was great.
People say that you don't need to play the old games but this moment alone worth it.
That moment feels like one of the most legendary moments in gaming if you grew up playing the old games. I actually feel bad for anyone that didn't play the old games before seeing that, and even worse for the people that got spoiled.

Just so I'm following, there is zero DLC, right? So we'll never see Asgard in this one?

This one is a bit more obvious, but since I didn't notice it on my first playthrough, it may be worth mentioning:

In regards to what Barlog said that every time there's a twist in the story, he'll hint at it, and some times even show us the reveal before it happens. So, Freya being Frigg, which is apparently a thing some people believe in actual norse mythology, when Kratos asks Atreus about a god who can feel no pain, Atreus answers with "Baldur, son of Frigg", and later, when we get to the area around Freya's house carrying Mimir, the lore thing we can find the moment we step out is a prayer to Frigg, and talks about how Baldur was her greatest gift to the world. That lore thing is even deactivated, with the crystal removed, I'm assuming because she doesn't want to be found.

It seems extremely obvious now, but it never even crossed my mind that the reason that specific lore note was right outside her home, and in that state, was because it referred to her and her son.

The attention to detail in this game's writing makes replaying it such an enjoyable experience story-wise.

So what was the early game hint that pointed the boy being loki that Cory teased on kinda funny?
He's holding mistletoe the very first time he appears, a minute into the game:

And btw it seems to be the same horn, just that Tyr is holding it in the opposite side.

Also I highlighted the twirling body of the snake with scales. I hope you can see it now:
t9iEkCc.jpg

Unless the head of the snake is not shown on the ornament and that head is the head of something else. It is hard to do clear engravings on metal and it won't probably look as revealing as paintings on murals. That is why you may think this is not the same snake because of that.
Yeah, you misunderstood why I said that. I said "supposed" because you asked me to search for that when neither of us were sure yet if there was an artwork of Tyr blowing a horn.

I do agree with you that it is most likely Gjallarhorn.

If we're to take that part as being the Serpent's body, then what about Tyr's? It's a part of it. I think that part might just be decorative again, with only Tyr, the creature's head, Tyr's spear, and the creature's wound being the clearly defined parts.
I know this is kinda random, but do you guys think Thor's daughter is going to play a role in the future? The way Sindri glossed over her name seemed a bit suspicious to me, though her name is Thrud apparently.
Oh, Sindri mentions her? I must've missed that. When was this?
Any of the spoiler casts with Corey have good critical stuff or just all praise?
I've watched the Kinda Funny, IGN, and EZA ones, they're all worth listening to. Although, I can't remember whether there are any pieces of information only brought up in one of the videos or if Cory talks about the same stuff across all three.

He points out certain things, such as how Faye was the one to make all the yellow markings we follow throughout the game. That also includes the "Family" sand bowl puzzle in The River Pass, as well as the message on Tyr's statue. The latter is the most interesting one because with it, we now know that Faye has armed Kratos to kill Thor with the poison that's prophesized to kill him.
If they are planning a DLC, it's should be about Faye adventure before the main game. Will be nice to see her wrecking everyone with the leviathan AXE!!!
No DLC plans, but regarding that, Cory said he wanted the players to witness Faye and Kratos' first meeting properly and not just in a flashback of sorts. We might get a standalone game a la Lost Legacy for that, or a prequel game (which is what I'm hoping for, with it being about Kratos and Faye rather than Kratos and Atreus) set prior to the events of this game. It could be a way to cover both Faye's meeting with Kratos and Kratos' journey to Scandinavia.
So what was the early game hint that pointed the boy being loki that Cory teased on kinda funny?
The first time we ever see Atreus, it's of him holding up mistletoe. With a kind of gleeful/mischievous look to boot.

Mistletoe has nothing to do with him being Loki, no? It's a Baldur defeat hint.
Loki was the one who orchestrated Baldur's death in Norse mythology, and it was done so through mistletoe, the one thing Frigg failed to make him impervious to.

The Aesir were having fun with Baldur's invulnerability by throwing all sorts of things at him. Baldur's blind brother could not join in on the fun due to not having anything to throw, so Loki hands him some mistletoe which pierces right through him.

I'm gonna be honest, I thought they'd reveal that the camera was ghost of mom (or just using Dwarven magic which strengthened that theory once mentioned). A little let down I was wrong but maybe in a sequel?

That would imply that she's got unfinished business and didn't pass away peacefully. Also, Cory confirmed that her spirit was already in the Light of Alfheim, where other spirits go. That was her we saw there, and not just Kratos' imagination.

Yup, and if you look at where her spirit was located in the Light of Alfheim, it shows us Jotunheim. So even that early into the game, they were already hinting we'd need to go to Jotunheim instead of the top of the mountain to spread her ashes.

It even shows that flying ship part of Helheim. So cool.

I love that moment in the light, and Alfheim in general.

It's such a bold move to hint at so many things all throughout the game, especially with the Loki hint the very second Atreus showed up. Although, to be fair, the latter was hard to spot. Still, bold but very rewarding move. It ensures nothing comes out of nowhere in the story since so many are hinted at beforehand, while also making second playthroughs really cool for when we keep an eye out for all these things.

Wonder if Tyr and Kratos are somehow the same person.

The game doesn't really explain how Kratos even got here. Doesn't seem easy to travel between mythologies based off what we learned in this game..

I think the "base realm" (midgard) is just the earth as we know and getting from one place to another is a matter of traveling there by foot/boat/whatever... toss in some very deadly monsters and its probably not something you'd do unless you were a god.

Yup, travelling between realms requires the Realm Travel Room and a Bifrost, etc. While travelling across the different regions (i.e. countries) of Midgard requires a lot of time. One of the treasure maps shows that it's entirely possible to sail from Greece to Scandinavia, as it was the ship captain from the first God of War's ship that we find.

Even if they do make DLC, it's not going to feature Asgard. They already have sequels planned; they'll save Asgard for those. It's too important of a thing to be in DLC that not everyone will get (even if it's just an initial reveal).

Hope they keep the escalation in check for the sequel. Best thing about this game is that it's pace is generally chill.

Does ragnarok have any down times?

I finished the main story a few days ago, and only today, looking for some stuff, I got to Kratos' home. I saw a prompt so they could get some sleep, and wow, Thor! That sequence gave me the chills.

I just wish there's some DLC challenge rooms like Arkham games, no story or lore or anything, just combat stuff escalating with each wave and ultimately ending with a boss fight. Maybe put some cosmetic items as rewards at the end.

I want something like this too, but Cory is against DLC, so I doubt it will ever happen. At most, I can see them maybe reworking the Muspelheim Trials and giving us a new one that's a horde mode of sorts. I'd be satisfied with being able to replay the 100 enemies trial, though.
Well I didn't but finished the game waiting for him to appear at any point anyway
I guess I was kind of expecting them a bit due to how often they were talked about, but at the same time I had no clue who could show up (which was such a refreshing feeling to have, to go in completely blind for the most part) in the game, so I was also open to the idea of them not showing up at all. I can't remember when I realized that they weren't going to show at all, though...
