Because many people play with the Pro Controller, it's not like it's going to require a touch screen or actually "throwing" the ball with complicated motion.

It's almost certainly optional

When is it due to be announced right now? If you can hint at it

Why is it pointless? They asked what was objectionable about it, I responded.
What sounds trash? The GO integration sounds awful. The ride system means the world design will be constrained again.

I wasn't a fan of gen 7, but I don't see how the ride system constrains the game. It's really just the same as having HMs, but not forcing you to have an HM slave. I think the game being linear and easy was not a fault of using the ride system.
Also, we literally don't know anything about the Go integration besides that it exists.

I've been fiending for a formula shake up so I'm willing to hear the whole picture before going into hysterics.

If this is all true, I wonder what the business objective with this game is, save for selling a bunch more Pokémon games and Nintendo systems. Feels like it's could be a test bed for Gen 8?

Sure, it could turn out to be great, and if it does, my initial reaction was wrong.
But we don't know what it will be, yet.

All I wanted is a Gen 1 remake with Gen 1 pokemon with today's visual style. So this becomes an instant GOTY for me...if the rumors are true.

Guess this will be the first Pokémon game I don't buy. At least that's one less series I play out of obligation. I played Go longer than the main buzz lasted, through the first four legendaries, and it just was a slog. Bad mechanics all around. Hard pass.

You're saying that as if this was Pokemon GO on a console. At least wait to see it.

I'm excited for Pokemon Switch as long as it's a mainline game and doesn't rely too much on having to walk around outside and stuff.

You know... If the stuff in this tweet actually does wind up being true, I don't think I'd be all that against it. It sounds like everything outside of catching wild Pokémon would be similar to Sun and Moon, which is fine with me. I hope the catching system wouldn't be completely like in Go, but a system mechanically similar to it doesn't entirely turn me off. I'm not quite sure how they could get it to work on a Switch... unless they made the game portable-only because of the touch screen, without letting you play it docked.

And I'll be totally honest: I'm all for a return to Kanto. I definitely want them to continue moving the series forward with new regions, but for its first HD outing, I'm completely fine with them doing a remake of sorts. It'll be great to see places like Pallet Town and Celadon City in HD— again, if the rumor is true.

I guess I'll just keep playing Gold on my 3DS then

I was hoping this one would get me back into Pokemon but not interested in it based on leaks

Why the fuck would they change the catch mechanic to the pokemon go version? It was straight trash without any challenge in GO. As someone completely out of GO since a year + back, having this being tied to GO as a selling point is hilariously weird and offputting. Not to even mention how it's a remake of yellow...

I can't get more dissapointed, but I can understand why they went for this. It fits with their earlier comment of brining back players who haven't played their games for a long time. Getting that gen 1 demographic that went back for the nostalgia in GO and now easing them back into a "real" pokemon game.

All of these rumors (some of which coming from very reliable sources like emily) all check out and relate with each other really well

I have never used Pokemon Go, how does catching Pokemon differ?

There's a shrinking circle over the Pokémon indicating with the colour how easy it is to catch (green = easy <--yellow--orange--> red = very hard), you flick the pokéball with your finger and can give it several effects, like spinning it beforehand, or do a curve-ball that gives you a higher chance. If you let the circle shrink and still manage to "hit" inside it, you get even more bonus points, and Pokémon sometimes move around or do stuff and moves that "cancels" your throw like slapping the ball away.

I'm more excited now than before.

Glad to know that they are trying to do some things differently. We have had decades of the same old formula. Time to move on.

Now to wait and see if it looks and runs like shit lol.

Catching in the main games hasn't ever really been a challenge either, but rather a test of patience. You do have to prep for some of them, but you have to do that to a degree in Go too (by saving up berries and better Pokeballs). The challenging part has always been finding the Pokemon to catch.
