Cano signed a 10 year contract worth 240m, I can't blame the guys who decide to use PEDs when there's that much money to be made... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, he's been cleared by doctors to play. So can't use the migraines as an excuse anymore. Some players are more injury-prone than others. Greg Bird is another one, but I can't imagine the Yanks not bringing him up once he's off the DL because he could get hurt again.
Migraines aren't really a thing you just get cleared for like Bird's ankle though. You can be perfectly fine for a while with migraines and then one day wake up and be basically unable to do anything. People with chronic migraines (which it seems Drury has going by his past and his explanations) live with them for pretty much their whole life once they start. Bird has an injury prone ankle that can hopefully heal over time. Drury has a condition that will probably never go away.

Ok so what do you suggest they do with Drury? Just leave him in AAA and let him rot there?

I mean he already is getting paid, he doesn't need to be taking the PEDs anymore :P

There is pressure to continue to produce and live up to the contract. I'm sure Albert Pujols doesn't like being reminded on a daily basis that he's a waste of a roster spot. Yeah you can just enjoy the money and not care, but a lot of these guys are wired that way in the first place.

I mean I have nothing against him and don't want to see him rot. He is a good player when he is healthy. Problem for Drury is that the Yankees have someone who they see as their future at the position and is producing right now. Drury was always just going to be a temporary player until Andujar was ready. He seems like he is ready now so they made the call to go with him and send Drury down. What I imagine will happen is that they'll keep him there for a while and then eventually release/trade him to some team that actually needs him. The Yankees don't. It sucks for him but that's just how things go sometimes.

That's fine. I'm asking if they should leave Drury in AAA or bring him up and have him back up 3B and 2B.
I would say trade him to the white sox for some pitching but uh...
I doubt any combination of
James shields, joakim soria, nate jones, hector santiago, chris volstad
would be enough to get him lol.
even adding
bruce rondon, luis avilan, aaron bummer, chris beck, greg infante, jaun minaya, dylan covey
to the pool I doubt any of them would be of enough interest lol.

plus
Tim Anderson, Yolmer Sanchez, Yoan Moncada
have 3rd, 2nd and short pretty well covered right now.
and matt davidson is already doing back up 3rd/1st

the white sox infield is like the only thing decent on the team right now. the outfield and pitching isn't great, though a number of players on the rotation are expected to be good eventually.

I guess I'm not as sold on Andujar right now as a lot of Yankees fans are. Since his hot start in April, he's been pretty cold in May. 13 singles, no XBH, and 2 RBIs. Swings at a lot of bad pitches, doesn't draw walks, and plays below average defense. Hopefully as the league adjusts to him, he'll figure out how to adjust back.

All players go though hot and cold streaks. Andujars stats and the eye test also don't support that he's been playing "below average" defense. Can we maybe give him more than a month and some change to prove himself over a guy who lied to his former and current team about being able to see the damn baseball? Drury still says he struggles to see the ball at night, for Christ's sake.

Nice! I'll be at the Nats game tonight and tomorrow. Hope I get to see him play - gotta love his quick hands and bat speed.

Technically he is not getting paid. He's losing $10mm by being suspended.

Also, you can't be suspended for masking agents for the 80 games unless the investigation makes it clear you're guilty and he and MLB have known about the failed test since winter.

Fixed.

More than likely it will be David Hale getting the boot.

As a Yankees fan I hope he becomes the next Manny Machado, but I can't sit there and pretend he's played gold-glove defense. I've watched every Yankees game this year, be it at the stadium or on TV and my eye test tells me his defense needs a lot of work. I looked up his defensive stats just now and they're not pretty. In 30 games at 3B this year, he has a -0.5 dWAR, .967 fielding %, -6 defensive runs scored above average, 2.07 range factor / 9 innings. All are below replacement level. So not exactly Brooks Robinson playing at the hot corner for us.

Gleyber Torres, on the other hand, that kid is going to be something special.

Man that sucks about Cano, he's always been a favorite. I remember years ago when Melky got caught and there was a bit of talk Robbie would too...
