Just finished the Lucifer finale, I don't know what possesses people to give their show, that they know is getting middling at best ratings a fucking cliffhanger. How often has a network actually bothered giving something another season because of it? I'm guessing zero or pretty damn close to it. Maybe the idea was to push WB to produce another season regardless of it being on Fox or something since I would imagine that damages the potential value of it but it's still remarkably stupid.

Yeah, peepre much the two most consistent cast members. The couple next door was done afteraa season or two. The actress for their daughter kept changing as well. JB Smoove as a cast member had pretty decent chemistry with the two of the leads though. And the son in law broke the 4th wall a lpy and knew the daughter was changing. None of their changes really helped at all.

I still need to watch this. They had a fucking Blossom reunion on this show. Even Big Bang Theory has avoided that.
They did? I guess I didn't realize cause I didn't watch Blossom. But I do specifically remember being amused at the scene where the son in law is talking to Mayim Bialik about her acting career and the cameras being zoomed out while showing the set and other cameras and mentioning that the actress for his wife is different all the time.
If anything I would expect Big Bang to have done a scene with a sort of reunion of multiple Roseanne cast members.

Like... what was that post-apocalyptic show with the nuts? Maybe you can argue that the cliffhanger got fans motivated to send peanuts to CBS which in turn got them to bring back the show? lol

Also, no one thought Sense8 was in any danger because that was before Netflix started getting ruthless with their cancellations. Everyone thought season 3 was inevitable.

Not that I can think of. Unless you count them not cancelling House of Cards outright following the Spacey scandal.
Chuck is the only one that comes to mind that kind of sort of had the cancellation/cliffhanger threat that ended up working, but I think the fan and critic support came through for that one way, way more than the cliffhanger ever did.

Hrm, yeah. Although I don't know if that was fan demand driving a save, but rather the Netflix algorithm deciding that the show is worth producing. lol
THe special was in between seasons IIRC.
lol I remember the constant Chuck cliffhangers. Now that I think about it more, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis did this too... until both shows got cancelled. Same with Universe.
Laurie Metcalf came first IIRC.
The producers said they're not interested in breaking the fourth wall though (aside from Teller apparently), which is why we didn't get any Stand By Me moments in the finale :(

True but I was hoping wedw at least get Galecki, Gilbert, and Metcalf all in a scene together. But Galecki interacting with both separately is alright too.
Decided to check out Barry last night and yeah, that's a good opening episode. Hader is really underrated as an actor and I should have expected this to be good after liking Skeleton Twins

The HIMYM final season and finale was so bad that I don't want to watch any of the show again. While the show was still on it was in syndication here on at least two different channels but after the finale both channels stopped showing it. I've never seen a 200+ episode popular sitcom just disappear like that before.
These are exactly my feelings about it. Retroactively no longer have any interest in watching it. And I really liked the show too. And you're right, I don't see reruns anywhere now. Gotta be one of the most damaging and destructive finales of all time.

It's hard for old people to get up and walk across the room to change the channel. Some of them also fall asleep before 9pm leaving the TV on CBS all night.
It makes sense if House of Cards is ending and they want a replacement political drama.

If by some miracle Netflix picked up Designate Survivor, I wouldn't mind seeing a reboot. It's a neat premise, Keifer is great, and the supporting cast is good as well. They just really suffered on the material front and could never pair up the naivete and optimism of "The American President" with the spy thriller and conspiracy parts of the show.
