People should just watch Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and pretend it takes place in the world of Monster Hunter even if it only barely fits.
I'm sure Capcom has taken some inspiration from it.

I was proud last night. I bought MHW for my son to play and he got his character set up, but he didn't have time to do anything else with it this weekend.

My daughter came home from school all bummed out yesterday (she's 12), so I distracted her by setting up a PSN account and getting her started with character creation. I got distracted with a phone call and chores, and came back to see her finish her first Great Jagras kill. I was pretty impressed since she doesn't ever game. I honestly thought making the character and Palico would be the end of her adventure.

My Son (4) keeos asking me about Monster hunter so I let him play the other day. I pretty much put him in expedition mode and was impressed at how fast he picked the controls up

He was running around catching all the bugs with the net! Thats a lot of coordination to use both sticks and both triggers!

Yup my kids gonna be gamers like their old man. Its in their blood

Coral Highlands were TOTALLY inspired by Nausicaa. Nobody can convince me otherwise.

Anyway, so I went to the gallery and replayed some cutscenes to get some cool shots from my character on his endgame gear.

I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

All limited bounties complete. Man, fuck Challenge quests.

Barroth was at least easy to hunt and RNG helped me out by giving me two small gold crowns in a row.

Also it is just me or are (Bird) Wyvern gems more common now? Bird Wyvern gems now regularly show up in the Argosy inventory and Wyvern gems drop more often from Barroth/Radobaan/etc. hunts, even showing up as regular rewards. Before 3.00 I had to farm them, but now I have 15 of them without even trying.

Not sure, I always found them super common and have dozens sitting in storage. Like 40 Wyvern and 70 Bird Wyvern.

I have tons of bird wyvern gems but no wyvern gems. Which sucks because bird wyvern gems are basically useless and you need wyvern gems to augment rarity 7 armor...

I was gonna say. I've got so many from doing Diablos and B.Diablos crowns.

If you want more, just kill Diablos 80+ times and try not to lose your mind.

The Wyvern gem thing could just be my imagination. But I never hunted crowns, so I would only get them as the occasional gold reward from a Barroth/Radobaan/Tobi/Diablos investigation. But last week's limited bounty Radobaan hunts (four of them I think?) yielded about six of them and today I got two from one Barroth hunt.

Of course, the former doesn't necessarily rule out the latter in this case. Are there any large animals she might go after in the vicinity of your house? Is your sledgehammer missing from the tool shed?

Trying to pickup and learn HBG, but so many sources just wants to focus on their one "best" build grrr... Need to find one that's more comprehensive so I can choose which HBG I want to use.

I have yet to seriously use it, though. My problem with HBG weapons is that I tend to judge their worth with the LBG as my frame of reference, since that's what I'm used to. More precisely: I have no idea what to look for without rapid fire to guide me.

I think one of the Taroth r8 has a good selection of ammo types and takes elementaless, so gonna do a general build then specialize down the road.

Edit: went with Dark Devourer instead.

I'm watching some MHGU videos and I remembered how good the music was in those games. They're full of energy and always get me pumped up while I unleash combos and evades and the notes just always seemed to be perfect for what's going on, I kinda miss that. The Gore Magala theme will stick with me forever.

Man, as I try to grind specific tempered elders for crowns, I'm realizing more and more that the way you get investigations is garbage.

For example: Do 5 Tempered Negigante investigations, gathering all of the spikes and tracks. Result: 3 Tempered Teostra Investigations, which I have all of the crowns for.

I just wish there was more of a way to control what kind of monsters you got investigations for.

Yup, they should rework the system. Maybe give out Investigation "keys" or something and you can decide what monster you want to focus on instead of this random stuff. The worst is when you kill trash like Vespoids and they end up in the list.

Yeah the different ammo dictates the play style. Gonna do long-range explosive first then work my way to close range spread shots.

Looks good! I have everything except the Bulwark Charm and that one Critical jewel, so I'll get the former first (a good incentive to finally do Sapphire Star's Guidance, if only for the ticket) and give it a shot (heh).

The vast majority of the RNG-based systems in this game are terrible when you're trying to accomplish a specific objective. Capcom needs to fix all of these systems the way they fixed gems: By offering an alternative, guaranteed form of acquisition.

At the very least, completing 3 runs of an investigation should give you a new investigation for that monster, guaranteed.

Best suggestion I've seen is being able to meld investigations, with different factors of the investigation increasing/decreasing the mats and points required.

So a 5 reward tempered elder investigation with 5 faints and increased zenny payout would cost more than a 2-3 reward investigation with max 2 players and 1 faint.

For HBG, just use these.

Cluster / Sticky / Wyvern - Dark Devourer ( Jho's )
Spread 3 - Nergigante
Pierce 3 - Legiana
Normal 3 - You're better off using RapidFire N2 from LBG

If you manage to get Taroth "Support" and Taroth "Glutton" HBGs from Kulve Taroth, they outclass both Nergigante and Legiana weapons respectively.

Yeah I wonder what they were thinking with the layer system. Build a complete system around what, two or three sets? What a waste. And then it's even technically half baked with the lack of being able to register layered armor to sets.

Haha. Oh, man. I think I just let a large gold crown B. Diablos slip through my fingers.

I was hunting regular Diablos and it lost a turf war to B. Diablos. That happens regularly, so I didn't give it much thought. But from what I understand, who wins depends on the individual size of both Diablos. Regular Diablos turned out to be a large silver crown and decently close to gold with a size of 2515 (2578 is gold), so if this B. Diablos was even bigger, then...

I think I will just pretend B. Diablos would have been a silver crown as well. Feels better that way.

Nothing new in the PS Store either this week.

The Tempered Anjanath/A. Rathalos one is new at least. Though I'm not sure why anyone would want to hunt tempered A. Rathalos with the recent flash pod nerf. It only awards more HR point, too.

I sort of expected new content this week, since it's four weeks since Kulve appeared. Hopefully we get a big update next week. Give us transmog already, Capcom.

So, can't post it here but there's a leaked screenshot in Reddit from a Japanese magazine showing a new monster, not on the leaked list.

Some people speculate it could be a new monster for MH Frontier, or even a fake, but it looks realy interesting. It says "May 29" too.

It also mentions MH Explore, the mobile app. Maybe it's some sort of crossover event?

Given the Western push/focus of World, they wouldn't announce a brand new monster in a Japanese magazine. It'd be in a YT vid for worldwide consumption.
