Are you as excited as I am for the scene, where is revealed that this tusken war lord only came into power because Anakin murdered them all. Just like animals?

meh, not into all these spinoffs just rehashing characters from the past and shit. I'll see it if it's good but none of these "a star wars story" movies have gotten any hype from me

stephen daldry is a lame choice too, hopefully an inspired one though and he digs deep into western and samurai iconography for this (lol we'll see)

maybe if they were making a movie about young Princess Leia having to fit into high society (coming to theaters Summer 2021) this choice would have made any sense.

edit: remember that idea that was floating around years ago with Zack Snyder directing a seven samurai-esque Jedi movie? sure the director could be different since not many people like him but what happened to concepts like that? freaking young solo, young obi wan. rumblings of a freaking Lando spinoff too I bet in the next couple years lol this is wack.

Has canon established tusken raiders as being completely unintelligent and completely incapable of being force sensitive like the Eu did?

I know there was a comic that had a tribe worshiping darth. "Lol typo<earth" vader after he slaughtered a village.

No, they're normal sentients. There's a Tusken named Reirin who finds a kyber crystal in From A Certain Point of View.

The idea of Obi-wan going on wacky adventures when he's supposed to be laying low has never sit well with me. Oh well, whatever.

The synopsis makes sense if they wanted Ewan McGregor to reprise his role. Idk, but this just seems excessive at this point. They are trying to make the universe bigger by having more individual character movies, but I'd rather them just do new stuff.

Cant wait for SEBULBA : A Starwars Story

images

Watch a young SEBULBA as he struggles with poverty as his family is brutally murdered by obi wan, forced to join Jabbas Gang to survive and eventually become the champion racer.

For all the endless potential the Star Wars IP has, why are we being limited to this time period between episodes 3 and 4?

Go bat shit crazy, Old Republic, future jedis, elseworld stories, seven samurai but with Jedis :(

A movie about Obi-Wan vs. Sand People? Incoming 'Not just the men, but the woman and children, too' memes everywhere.

Nostalgia brings in the most money.

Blue Harvest? An intervention between two rival factions by a lone swordsman? So it's gonna be Jedi Yojimbo/Fistful of Dollars

I thought so, but it reads more like he's saving the farmers from this gang as opposed to being in between two rival ones. So more Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven than anything.

This is exactly what I wanted, perhaps not the Sandpeople part but hey, I'll take anything with Ewan wiggling a stick around .

I would say to make it like a Samurai type of film, where he has to save a village or a group of people from a tyranny.

I dont think this would happen if Ewan wasnt onboard. Of course it's Ewan, it will screw up the entire saga if it wasnt him.

Hes the perfect age for it (perhaps a little younger then Obi in movies during this time).

You're probably joking about it but if they just have to do something with the old characters in this specific time period I would actually be into this. Exploring high society in the empire from the perspective of a young girl of nobility.

Would be something relatively fresh.

I dont think Ewan/Obi would use his saber and limit his force powers in case people talk about the Jedi. He wouldnt risk it. That could make for an interesting scenario where he's continuing his detective skills to hunt/protect others.

It'd be neat if they don't have Obi-wan using his lightsaber in the movie. Having to do the right thing without revealing himself, even if it puts him at a disadvantage.

Mainline? Maybe. What I want out of an Obi-Wan spin-off? Doubtful.

He did direct the best Nu-Star Trek film, but also that movie was benefited by Pegg's great script.
Have you seen a film by Daldry? Or are aware of his filmography? People saying this is an odd choice is not because they've never heard his name before. It is genuinely an odd match to the material.

Anyway, definitely up for some lone samurai/cowboy archetype story set in the Star Wars universe.

These stand alone SW movies have all been so bland. It's even more jarring since they all lead to the original SW movie anyway.

Did we really need to know why Tantive IV was being pursued? No, but they made a movie out of it anyway. Or how Han met Chewie. Or what Ben got up to in the desert.

The irony is that the mainline movies have taken more risk and tried to shake things up, while the one off movies are all so safe and standard.

Or a perfect choice depending on the movie they are going for. If they're going for an all out action-Western, then yeah he's an odd choice. If they're going for a more introspective film that's a bit slower paced, Daldry seems appropriate.

Also, we're talking about a world where Kenneth Branagh directed Thor.
