i ordered mine from clove because it'll be easier for someone like me in a country google doesn't even know exists when it comes to warranty errands. they only say end of november, could mean anything.
Camera seems exactly the same, the HW is not bad but the post processing done by OP is awful. If you download the ported Google Camera with HDR its WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better
I sold my OP5 and bought a Pixel 2XL, could not be happier. Camera is the single most important part of a phone for me so the $300 extra I paid for the Pixel made it worth it.
Did exactly that too. Pixel 2 xl memory management is complete trash though in comparison. Feels like a bug.
Pixel XL 1 camera is also very good. I'll have to see if there is a noticeable difference between Pixel 1 and 2. I sold my OP5 and got the Pixel. Will probably buy a 5T still. I like how easy it is to root. If you are a student you can still get $50 off through studentbeans

Says will have improved low light. I don't believe them, but I guess we will see soon.
EiS for video was pretty descent once they fixed it but no OIS for photos made it HARD to take a good shot
Dont get me wrong the 5 is a fantastic performer but if you care about the camera you should skip OP5 and the Essential phone, I would be very careful to see reviews before buying the 5T.

Boring. LG G2 pioneered the smaller bezel shit. The shape and size of the bezels reminds me of that phone.
For those of you with a Pixel 2, are media controls not working for you through the dongle? All I can do is play/pause, double tap does nothing. This is with Spotify specifically

The iPhone X looks the best. Smallest overall bezels. I thought the notch was dumb at first, but if you think about it, Apple put extra screen where other manufacturers just quit and left it a bezel. Apple made the notch so they could elegantly put in the phone signal on one side and time on the other side.

depends. I do miss the bt battery icon and number % for battery. I also dig the notification icons at the top on android, but ios never had that so ok.
I do agree that android phones needa get rid of something if they aren't going notch, drop the chin or the forehead.
Android already has a software chin anyways with nav buttons, heck iphone x basically has a software chin if you pay attention to the optimized apps design.

The notch is shit. Xiaomi already figured it out by simply sticking the front camera on the bottom of the Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2, since a bottom chin makes the phone easier to hold anyways.
Android authority got an Oppo r11s, which is basically a op5t. Apparently the camera isn't really any better than the 5 in low light.
Text input with Gboard in Skype is really lagging behind what I am writing on my Pixel 2 (small). Is anyone else having this issue?
I know people don't really use FFC, but making it at that position just guarantees no one will.
I get what you mean, but I believe the notch and chin are two very separate design decisions. The gesture area is there to already make it easier to wield, while the notch is something that can't go away unless they figure out a way to place the sensor behind the display and not having it lose reliability.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of the notch, but I learned to like it. Like AJ said before, it's better to have the notch and software indicators there using the most possible screen real estate instead of just having an unusable black bar. My suggestion is that they could make that a permanent black background with the indicators so that it goes better with the notch and make it seem like one piece with a common purpose.

Overall I'm extremely happy with the phone so far, the customization is insane.
Decided to use a wallpaper of a Star wars cross bladerunner painting of Mark Hamill, with extended windows on either side categorized by apps, and the wallpaper shifting depending on which side I switch to, so cool!
Battery life so far seems surreal, having used the phone all day I'm still at 15% when normally I would have had to charge by now from this kind of use on my old phone! Thanks for all the help androidera!

I was wandering around Oxford Street in London and thought I'd take a look at the Pixel 2 XL. I went into basically every phone + tech shop and while the iPhone X was in all of them to play with, I found the Pixel 2 XL was MIA. Like, they all had the stand for it but it wasn't in the holder. I found one eventually and was super impressed, I would definitely consider this top of my list for next year (to upgrade from S7 Edge) assuming nothing else interesting comes out in the mean time. But yeah, poor marketing job there by Google, if people could play with the thing they might be convinced like I was.
Also the iPhone X was nice too, I don't want to switch to iOS though and the price is far too high anyway. I paid £640 for the S7 Edge at launch, and the X is £1000. Even comparing to the XL 2, it's still £200 more for what I see as no better a phone. My partner has the iPhone 8+ and that's far better value, basically same price as the XL 2.

DHL to the EU is usually duty free, some of the postings will advertise that.
Nah, the S8 is easily the best looking phone there. The notch is still as ugly as it was on day one.
Having owned an S6E for 2 and a half years, I'm over the curved edges too. They look really nice but don't do anything for me functionally.
Still better than the notch and Apple's messed up UI design on the X though.
