It ended up being a pretty interesting bit of insight.

I found the Lighthouse waterfall scene that Mark mentions a few times in the AMA as one of the most complex this season.

It didn't even dawn on me that they did it all with VFX because it looked so good.

so who's still feeling confident that the IW ending will play out onscreen here, out of curiosity

Lol why is this the only thing you care about?

https://news.avclub.com/clark-gregg-says-captain-marvel-has-more-than-one-origi-1826153822#p3pvtu769

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the man who has played S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson on the big and small screen for 10 years reveals that the film's plot will also detail the beginning of Coulson's time at the secretive government organization. "He's a bit of a new guy in S.H.I.E.L.D.," Gregg explains, perhaps happy that he can once more appear in an MCU film without all the Avengers staring at him and saying, "You're alive? The fuck?" His character will be seen roughly a decade before his first appearance in Iron Man.

yeah, I figure that Reddit AMA quote is how the goalposts will be moved
No need. I believe it will tie-in just because there is too much evidence for it not to be the case, it already has tied in within the show in a few ways already to show that the last few episodes are happening concurrently to the film.

It will be entertaining to see how people like you attempt to move goal posts though. Like the old stand-by, "Well, they didn't reference the show in the films so it doesn't even matter because it might as well not be part of the same universe."

Nah, if I'm wrong on this point, I will absolutely admit that I'm wrong about there no longer being any meaningful coordination between Marvel Television and Marvel Studios.

The AMA said they were able to get ILM's Triskellion model, which unless I'm mistaken, had only been shown in Season 4, after Marvel Studios stopped reporting to Perlmutter. Does that not signify "meaningful coordination"?

For the purposes of this conversation, getting assets from a year old movie and writers having access to plot points for movies then-unreleased are two different things. Asset sharing is a little more common; I recall assets were shared between the first Avengers and the Amazing Spider-Man productions when they were trying to place each other's buildings in as cameos, but it didn't end up working out.

You say asset sharing is common then use an example that is not at all representative of the "norm".

I don't know what how old the movie has to do with anything. The scripts for films are written, or at least are in a close to final state, way before a season of a TV show goes into production. It's why it was easier for the films to share scipts in the past than work in anything that was happening on TV into the films.

People act like the door has been closed for communication to ever happen, but I'd imagine since the AoS probably have built a good relationship with Marvel Studios and the Russos, it wouldn't be much effort at all for them to call up someone and tell them they want even just the outline of the film because they want to have a season of AoS that builds up to it. Not that complex nor implausible.

Regardless of the content of the finale, should we allow open spoilers for Infinity War once the finale airs? It is going to be hard to speculate about Season 6 (which is what this thread is going to do for the next few months), without talking about some stuff from that. If everything is behind a tag, this thread gets really hard to navigate.

I had to avoid the internet (especially this site) for nearly a week because folks were openly talking about Infinity War in completely unrelated places; it was quite unbearable having to be cautious in this thread and others because of how frequent chat would eventually return to spoilers and tags. That said... it's been three weeks. Barring some odd unforeseen circumstance, I can't imagine anyone who's tuning into tonight's finale of AoS hasn't seen the movie by now or at least has peripheral knowledge regarding events of the film.

Also, how is that crusty old Dark World meme doing so well in the poll?

I still haven't seen the movie. If it's okay, could you guys just keep using spoiler tags until the show is over tonight? After that I'll peace out from the thread and you guys can go hog wild. I'd really appreciate the consideration.

I think so.

And I think it'll be impossible if it indeed does continue to tie into the movie in the season finale.
