or simply another Battletech project (which we of course know is going to happen).
I love the game but getting some dreadful load times in the mech bay, really hurts ones desire to play.
I say that as someone with over 100 hours and not finished the story.
It is very fun, so play now.So, thanks to Amazon UK I bought it sooner than expected. Do you guys think it's worth playing now or wait for more patches?
I think contracts are pretty much infinite. They're procedurally generated and based on the planet you're on, so once the galaxy map gets big enough you'll never be able to exhaust them.Noob here (but not due to the recent amazon deal), how do the missions work do new ones keep popping up over and over or can you actually finish them and move on to the next system? I did a lot of contracts but I'm still low on the money side so I went ahead with the main mission "Capturing the Argo".

Priority missions are where the story's at, are generally (though not always) much more challenging, and they'll also open up the game a bit. Tackle them once you feel you're in a good spot.
Yeah that's what I thought. How long is the campaign (only priority missions)?
I believe there are about 15(?) priority missions, but you also have to do random contracts between some of them for them to unlock.Yeah that's what I thought. How long is the campaign (only priority missions)?

You can't just do priority missions. The game gates priority missions behind doing side contracts.
At a minimum, you could probably finish in 30 hours, I think.

No solid numbers, estimates as high as 500k.Yeah thanks guys. Any word on how well it sold? I played the shadowrun games not too lang ago and loved them (except for Returns), so it would be cool to see some new content and improvements.
HBS was pleased with sales numbers after a week or two, and I suspect this is the type of game that will have a decent tail based on word-of-mouth. This particular game franchise should have a strong life ahead of it.
GOG? Can't help you there, sorry. Not sure if someone has answered this yet, but Battletech's update won't download even though it says that it's a 900~ish MB download. When I hover over it, however, it says I need 12.6 GB? What's going on here?
That is the best feeling.Bashing my head and figuring stuff out by brute force has been really fun. I had one mission where I had to prevent a convoy from escaping. I had my scout running up and stomping the tanks, while two of my mechs were holding their own against four mechs. I had my sniper swapping between both sides. My two attackers were too far back to jump in on the convoy chase, my scouts legs broke from chasing down the tanks and the last one nearly escaped before my sniper overheated to take it out just barely.
So much fun. I know if I keep playing and I "get it", it'll be easier, as it is with all things. But currently, the missions I take and the risks I go for in completing them feel so weighty. The devs have done a fantastic job. I get pangs of anxiety when I'm readying my team from drop. I love it.
I finally lost Dekker. I pulled a 2.5 skull battle contract and I was experimenting with full armor melee focused Centurion/Dragon, long range low armor 2x LRM15 Trebuchet, and Dekker in the Shadow Hawk with a mix of close/medium range. For some reason every single mech on this contract had a blood debt with Dekker and bee-lined for him regardless.
Other than him, the rest of the mission went well and the experiment worked. The melee Mechs kept the pressure on the enemies while the Trebuchet kept knocking them down.
Best you can do on a C1 is two LRM20s anyway. At a lower intiative.
Initiative can be worked around.Best you can do on a C1 is two LRM20s anyway. At a lower intiative.
Oh ok well that's strange. Is it in the downloads list?

If you've already tried restarting Steam, trying right clicking on the game an doing the 'verifying integrity of game files', maybe that will force the update.
This may be a silly question but do you have 12.6 GB available? Even though Steam may only need to download a small amount of new data, Steam often needs to unpack files before the new data can be properly applied to the game. Not sure if someone has answered this yet, but Battletech's update won't download even though it says that it's a 900~ish MB download. Try 2xLRM20 Stripped-down Trebs. It's insane. Like, between heavy and assault level hitting power on meds
The one I use basically has one arm completely stripped and a bit of armor in the front elsewhere, but no back armor. It can actually take a few hits, believe it or not.Just tried this out. Having to strip all armor out is reeeeally scary so I dunno I have the metal for it! When an enemy mech fired a shot at it I closed my eyes in fear.

(and if you're that low on space, you may want to clear out even more space since it's probably negatively affecting your drive's performance)
Mind telling me what kind of framerates you see at 1080p or 1440p? I need a frame of reference for my GTX 1070.Just finished.
The game, planning and atmosphere is great. I sank about 80hrs doing side missions and despite some were BS (reinforcements activating on the second turn) I was engaged.
The bad is the terrible story, lady kamea can go to hell for all I care, bad optimization even though I was using a 1080ti, bad voice acting.
I hope they make an expansion and improve on those bad spots

I find four hours is reallll easy to do with this game, reminds me of Armored Core with the customization fun.I may have fallen down a Battletech hole today since the missus is out of town and did 6 straight hours of just running contracts. This game is great, especially as someone who used to play the old games and the tabletop ones.
