Damn, I really wanted to grab it on Switch because my PS4 is already getting enough play and I haven't used my Switch since like February. Good job, Nintendo. Does the eShop ever do sales?

Yeah, it does do sales, and Battle Chasers should be fairly quick to see one. Could give it a few weeks/months if you're not starved for games.

Received yesterday and really liking it. Character development, dialogs, battles are great, I was missing something like this on Switch. Only played handheld so far, and while I don't know how it compares to other platforms I don't find anything that can hold me back enjoying my playthrough.

I'll try and keep an eye out. Hopefully I can get it around $20 soonish, $40 is just way too much for me right now, especially for a game that's markedly cheaper on other platforms.

Best party easily, Garrison does massive damage, Monika controls the field with stealth and status ailments and Alumon has crazy healing and single point target damage if needed.

Qj3qmFp.jpg

How did you get Red Monika to look like that lol? Havent gotten her yet, so that might be a dumb question. Didnt know there were ways to change people's appearances, unless thats a mod or something...

Calibretto is by far my favorite party member atm. Still only have the first 3 characters though so that might change. His healing abilities, especially the one that heals on dmg, are so good and have saved me more than once already.

Ugh, I've had my character stuck on the scenario a couple of times already and had to Save+Quit then reload to go back to the world map, and now loading a saved game force closed the game. If this is the version they "fixed" for the Switch I don't want to know in what state the game was back in October last year...

Why do people like to blame Nintendo for prices of 3rd party software?

Considering the game cost significantly less at launch on other hardware than it does on this one and this version doesn't have any improvements to justify the extra cost, the fault is either on Nintendo or on the developer. And I don't know why the developer would feel justified in asking for more for the game considering they know there isn't any new content in it.

Maybe it is the dev's fault, but if it's literally just "manufacturing cartridges costs more", then the digital version should be the same price as the digital version on other hardware.

Please dont start this again. If you guys really need to discuss it make a thread about the price, or take it somewhere else. Weve already had a Mod tell us once, I dont want this OT to get locked if they have to warn us again...

Didnt mean to single you out, Shibata btw.

I'm really enjoying these little chats they have when you rest at the inn. These guys really do like each other, don't they?

I just got the one between Red and Gully about how Gully thinks Monika is amazing and she points out Gully can basically crack mountains in half so they're both awesome.

How do you get currency for the costumes? Seems different from the currency that selling artifacts give.

the HELP Menu.
Shadow Coins are collected by selling artifact items (not usable otherwise) to the Collecter, and selling fish to a guy northeast on the map, after you pass the second dungeon. you can get a variety of awesome equipment that's unique and unattainable otherwise, including alternate costumes.

the shop list for that guy only gets better every level, so stop by on occasion to see what you might like! I said it before though, but the Purple Fishing equipment is a must have, since that's something you want to do every time you can, and having the best you can get for a long while will pay for itself in due time!

You get Shadow Coins for turning in fish to the fishmonger? Looked like I was getting a different type of coin, but I couldn't figure out what it was.

I don't mind a challenge and dying in an RPG. In fact it's kind of a welcome change from FF games where I felt like you could grind to the point that you're unstoppable in a decent amount of time.

But, I am annoyed that the game doesn't even give me the choice of steamrolling lesser enemies for less XP, and forces me to fight enemies that beat the piss out of my party leading to me needing to stay at an Inn every handful of battles; or lose a gross amount of gold (which feels scarce) if I fall in battle.

And they are way too liberal with the debuffs, which is making harder dungeons really aggravating. I don't understand the rhyme or reason behind why poison or bleed takes double digit HP or hundreds.

If you're high enough level, you can just walk right by weaker enemies on the map if you want to. Not sure about dungeons.

I don't mind fighting lesser enemies, but I want XP for it. Not just gold and various items. I don't understand the designers' intentions with not awarding experience for beating lower level enemies. I feel like it's kind of the player's choice if they want to drip-feed XP by crushing weaker foes.

Probably because there is no experience in stomping an enemy and they wanted to keep the game challenging and keep players thinking in battle in steam of just mindless choosing attacks and win. You can still go and beat on enemies 3 levels below you which pose very little threat and get XP for it, so you can in fact still farm lower level enemies you just can't turn it into a brainless farm method.

The challenge is great, every new area I have gone into enemies are my level or 1 to 2 levels above me which keeps battles interesting, there are some mild annoyances like random effects in battles and sometimes and enemy one hit ko one of my guys for over 4k damage when I have no attacks that come close to that type of damage.

I'm getting completely fucked up by the first dungeon in this game. Can anyone impart wisdom unto me? I'm sorry if this has been already asked and answered

I was having some trouble, but once I hit level 5 I would have Gully use taunt and defend to tank all the damage, with Calibretto healing her when needed. And the swordsman would use quick slice and the bleed attack to build up overcharge for his special attacks.

Iron Outpost? Nothing special needs to be made IMO. Try to be leveled up accordingly before entering the dungeon (with that I mean to face enemies in the paths around), I beat it at medium difficulty that way with no major issues.

Just take your time. Grind a bit. Use your abilities more liberally instead of waiting to store up overcharge. You can always exit the dungeon, go sleep at the inn, and then go back and pick up where you left off. Get as far as you can in the dungeon going all-out in battles, exhaust that MP, go back and sleep, walk around and engage in battles on the world map for a bit, go sleep, and then go back to the dungeon. A little grinding never hurts!

I played this waaaaaaaaaaay too much along with Hyrule Warriors this weekend. This game is amazing. I really wish more games (RPGs especially) made their characters unique in regards to the little things.

Battle Openings, Taunts, Winning animations, Spell casting animations, etc.

So many RPGs just use stock for all the characters and I really hate it. Xenosaga 1 and 2 are a good example of unique combat animations/spellcasting done right as well. I love this shit in RPGs.

Fair enough. I just tend to want to sandbag when I'm grinding.

Every time I close in on an area that I've heard someone had their save get corrupted at/near, I'm hesitant to advance. Right now I'm putting off on going towards Deadwatch, and decided to spend some time restoring level parity across all party members. When I got Knolan I put Bretto on the bench, so he's a good 2 levels behind everyone else. I ended up benching Knolan when I got Red Monika, though he's only like a level behind. I don't know if there's any advantage to keeping everyone close in levels, or if I'm just letting my OCD get the better of me. The added Perks are coming in handy though.

Got the legendary weapons for my current team, damn talk about a damage boost, think I'm nearing the last dungeon and I don't want the game to end.

Finished the game today, not too sure on NG+ don't like that you lose all you inventory and stuff so not keen to start all that again.

The game had a good challengd up unitl the last 2 dungeons and the final boss, it was all very easy especially the end boss, expected to be git by lots of damage but it was over in a few tuns.

Legendary weapons are awesome and very OP which is probably why the end dungeons were so easy.

Overall though I really enjoyed the game and had some great fun with it. First run through took 42 hours and managed to finish the hunts and colosseum. Great fun.

I'd like to balance the team and use everyone. How important is it to keep Gully for the hidden rooms ?
I'm kinda disappointed if I'm almost forced to keep one character (which has (a) specific role(s), thus making strategies less flexible).

For now It seems actually easy enough to go in every dungeon on Heroic difficulty. I was expecting worse.
Without doing any grind and just get everything on the map as well as checking all the corners at least once for chests and stuff, I end up at a level above most enemies.

The slime felt hard at first but I wasn't using the right strategy with Gully as she had a very bad weapon.

So it seems to me you just have to adapt to whatever gear you find (if you want to keep your money for learning books (perks points, recipes...) and craft a few (as well as enchantment if it feels needed) here and there.

Makes me think of Saga Scarlet Grace a little so I like it, but I hope levels are not too much of a deciding factor in victory/defeat. Would just be too simple/easy.

Just received my copy...finally.

With Hyrule Warriors: DE...I'm in for a lot of game time. D:

Battle Chasers gets the priority as I already went through HW when it came out, can't wait to try it out tonight!

I'm having a hard time imagining a weapon more legendary then that one that gives Callibreto ten overcharge a turn, hot dang is that one good!

like, every powerful barrage he throws down heals the most damaged person twice, if you set up your perks right!

Loving this game. Just benched Callibreto for Knolan, and am about to enter Junktown. I play all dungeons on Heroic difficulty the first time through, and then when I get RM I will go back and run the first dungeons again on Legendary. I need to start spending my books for perk points, and get out of my hoarder mentality.

The art makes me enjoy everything about this game

I honestly don't know how I could ever not use Calibretto any more. 10,000 attack, and first attack crits.

Like, you can wipe out bosses with his 3x Burst skill with the crit being effectively guaranteed for upwards of 20k damage. :eyes:

By the time you've built him sufficiently, he no longer even needs to directly heal because of the Overcharge perk he has that automatically heals when Overcharge is used. He'll heal for upwards of 1-2k just by attacking through Overcharge (because his heals also scale with his absurd attack power). On top of that, his attacks also increase his healing power in a stacking fashion.

How/where do you get the Legendary weapons?

Depends on the character you want the weapon for. Have 5 of the 6, only Gully doesn't have one because I have yet to find the material needed for it.

Since I only played with Red Monika, Garrison and Alumon I only played with their ones. You will get the plans for the weapons so they can be forged at the smith then you just need the materials. Monika you just have to follow the treasure maps and find them, Garrison requires you to finish the battle colosseum as the material is it's the 2nd last reward. Alumon was part of a hunt quest.

Thanks!

Regarding Garrison, I assume the super-powered Chaoseater recipe I got as a backer isn't for his legendary weapon?

Okay, starting over. Not buying any weapons with shadow coins this time because the game is too easy then. Good thing I was just at Junktown ...

Did they actually fix the sleep bug so you guys are getting accurate hours? There's no way I spent 300 hours on the game.
