I wish I could change my outfit on the go. I know it sounds silly and maybe break "immersion" but it would be great to press L1+triangle and cycle between stealth or shield weaver.

Just completed this.

Was a very, very pleasant re-visit with Aloy. This game is so well executed in all respects.
There's a couple of encounters that's just as audio visually brutal as anything in the Souls games but with the dynamics of Guerrilla's open-world tech.
Great characters & well figured dialogs throughout. They have an excellent writing staff on hand.
And there's a bigger lore payoff at the end, insights into known characters and a very important new aspect to the world.
We can now dialog with a friendly A.I from the Old World!

Now the wait begins for the 2020 sequel...
...can't wait for that 60fps PS5 version.

Only about 30 minutes into this and I' already so damn happy to revisit this game. After having not played it in months it' visuals are blowing me away with how impressive it is all over again.

Looks like it's a good sized expansion as well

I learned very quickly that my trick of setting 20+ trip wires wasn't going to cut it here, Scorchers and Frostclaws just tear through them taking barely any damage. Those Banuk weapons though, I was like 1/3 of the way through on my Ultra Hard/NG+ game, I think I'm going to finish Frozen Wilds and restart just so I can take those with me.

This reminded me of how one of my friends pointed out that Aloy basically undressed in front of her "friend" in the beginning of the game, if you put on the free armor. I told her not to expect Aloy to need the restroom or anything xD

You can upgrade that weapon in a quest, have you done that?

I didn't really use that weapon much, the ice one is pretty good to freeze enemies fast though.

Yeah, I mean it's not like we have to go to a storage to change suits, just giving us a shortcut would be cool. Maybe flash the screen black for a second.

I'm really struggling on Ultra Hard against these three frostclaws. Without cheesing it I don't see how you can do it. It's brutal beyond belief.

I haven't done ultra hard yet, but honestly for most of the new machines, I've just been freezing/shocking/burning them and then spamming the blast? bombs with the slingshot. They do so much more damage than arrows.

I mean the one frostclaw fight I was able to freeze and then just do a ton of damage. But even after I disable their long range attacks, the three of them just start spamming the other moves. I dont' want to knock down the difficulty, but I don't think I can actually beat this haha.

Are you using the be new bow(s)? Holding them causes a charged shot (visual indicator as well as sound). Doing good with 2 or 3 arrows makes for a massive attack.

Stupid question...

How do I complete the Banuk Stormslinger tutorial? I have it active and used all my ammo on three longlegs killing all three and none of it registered. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Question for those that have beaten it:

Is the time of day stuck in mega beauty mode permanently or does it go back to cycling once you've killed all of the Fireclaws?

I don't remember it being stuck on a certain time. Fought 3 of those in daytime, but another at night (northern lights FTW)

Huh interesting. I tired taking a photo and adjusting the ToD and it wouldn't allow for it. Curious why that is. Not that I'm complaining either. It's stuck at sunset and looking mighty fine.

I wish the shield from the shield-weaver was a mod you could attach to other outfits. It'd be really cool.

What is the issue? I had no trouble on UH. I did roll too much and ended up rolling off a cliff and killing myself, but that one doesn't count :P

You need 3 things:

Blast wires with damage mods.
Ropecaster with handling mods.
Hunter bow, hardpoint arrows modded for damage.
Helps to have a fire weapon (2nd hunter bow modded for fire is what I prefer).

Tie down 1st frostclaw with ropecaster.
Light 2nd one on fire to keep it distracted.
Focus on 3rd one. Back away and plant multiple blast fires in the same spot. Stack 3 hardpoint arrows and work on its chest and arms.

I killed the 3rd one by the time the 1st one broke free of the ropes. 2nd one was on fire and also distracted by the NPC. Rinse and repeat.

ToD is disabled in certain locations.

You need to shock them, not kill them. Shock applies when the debuff is fully applied - you can make put when the icon has a white circle around it.

Yeah, I definitely remember one of the fireclaw fights, where I paused it as it's throwing the large chunk of ground, and messed around with photomode, including ToD. Maybe you found a glitch of some kind.

Finished the "main" story content yesterday and maybe 80% of the collectibles and side content.

The main story was a bit underwhelming. Ourea dying did nothing for me, maybe because I expected it to happen. I liked her character and I like the idea that an AI and a human being helped each other out to overcome loneliness and dramatic events in their "life". But when the big sacrifice came I just thought: "Yeah there it is and of course alloy and aratak are stunned, how convenient." The sacrafice was very forced, didn't like it.
Hephestos being the main culprit here wasn't a big revelation either, especially because we didn't learn anything of real importance. He was part of GAIA, he is loose now and so are other AIs, the flowers were created by an AI (and so on). I already knew that, thank you. We also learned that Sylens is an intelligent, ruthless, manipulative and power hungry bad ass... nothing new

Gameplay and Combat was fine and there were some creative side areas
like the dam
The new weapons are a lot of fun, but a bit too resource consuming imo and some enemies have a tiny bit too much health.

Overall: I loved the main game for its mystery sci fi story and the exciting combat. This was just more exciting combat, cool new weapons, some nice looking vistas, but the story was rather predictable and "unpromising".
7.5/10 imo. Good, but not mind blowing. I, maybe, just expected too much from this DLC because Witcher 3 + Uncharted 4 spoiled me and HZD main story is one of the best videogame stories ever told.

I know that this thread is mostly for the DLC, but i recently started the game (just left the Valley) and i wonder if anyone has tips on inventory: what to sell, what to buy, tips on armors and weapons, upgrades etc.

Generally you want to keep machine hearts and animal skins, these are used to buy better gear and for crafting. Later merchants will tell you what items you'll need for particular purchases. Anything labelled "ancient" can be sold for shards.

I make sure that I have at least one type of elemental damage type in my arsenal at all times, as well as hardpoint/tear arrows and pure damage (blast). This means I'm ready to take on most enemies.

Resistances are very valuable and can make a big difference to damage. I like to use mods to minmax what the armour is already good at (eg put fire resistance mods on fire resistance armour), and then equip that armour when I'm up against large enemies with that damage type. The other option is to use resistance potions.

Cleared on Very Hard, great expansion, going to do a bit of gathering then make a new Ultra Hard NG+ just so I can go through with the Banuk weapons

Just started. The Scorcher fights are bloody intense. It's like fighting a very angry fireball.

The snow tech is absolutely gorgeous. There are some amazing animations/inverse kinematics at work here which give it a real sense of thickness when wading through it.

I'm playing on NG Hard, and the fights against the last enemy type are among the best (or the best!) this generation has had to offer, by far. It's amazing how GG managed to make them super-intimidating and dangerous.

I love the move where (spoiler):
They pick up a big chunk of stone and use it as a battering ram before using said "plate" to smash down on you. Do the frostclaws use this move?
Like something straight out of the most aggressive Soulsborne bosses!

First of all, it's impossible for me to breathe when fighting the Frostclaws. If you already thought bears were intimidating, you haven't seen anything yet.

Second of all, does anybody still get actively pissed about
Ted Faro? I was listening to the datapoints from before & I truly hate him.

Did anyone else not enjoy the gameplay that much? I love the setting, world and story so far but the gameplay is generic open-world as it gets. Not sure I can deal with any more grass hiding. Combat is stale bread 15 hours in...

Bought the game the day it released, played for about two hours and then Zelda happened. So I'm bought the dlc and I'm finally getting back around to it.
I don't want to sound negative, but does jumping and climbing kind of suck or am I just crazy?

Stealth becomes less and less of an option later in the game. The combat to me is my favorite of the year and some of the best this generation.

The controls are great and the process of taking apart the robots then targeting their weak points never gets old. I will admit the human combat is nothing extraordinary but it works, and I always enjoy head shotting bad guys.
