Has State of Decay 2 been pulled from the New Zeland store? I get the following message when clicking on the cover art on Xbox and Windows 10, "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found."

Hot tip: maybe don't believe in your ability to reason with an enclave named 'Heartless,' especially when it's dark out and your equipped weapon is a single shot rifle. I almost lost my two best survivors, but luckily the enemy shots drew some zombie attention and I was able to pick them all off.

Hey guys, I'm the only one having issues launching the game on Windows? It's finally unlocked but when I launch it it will show a window with the game logo then after a while it disappears and nothing happens
Try going to Apps & Features from the start menu -> Select the game -> Advanced Options -> Reset -> Launch the game again.

Getting a bit of a chunky framerate when I look out over the map on the PC version. Specs should be plenty high enough and I'm up to date with drivers. Anyone else? Not bad, it just goes a bit juddery when I pan around the camera out in the open...

looks fine to me. textures aint worse than any bethesda open game for instance. its kinda time for us to admit that the OG xbox wasnt up to snuff when it came out, let alone today.

If you only care about your own survival, it's OK but you have micro managing a base, survivors etc.
It's easier if you only keep a select few indivituals until you spread out. Like i only keep people who can learn mechanics, computers, doctor etc. On my first play through i had like 10 people and it became an absolute chore and wasn't fun so i started a new game where i am VERY selective of the people who i allow in. Only people who can actually help with more advanced base building stuff.

Far easier to manage and you aren't forced to spend 70% of your time looking for supplies to help them and you spend more time venturing far out sneaking around towns.

I assume you can't remove skills from people. Finally found a computer book and I can't add it to anyone. Says they have the maximum number of skills. I guess I need to find someone new.

So did they pull the win 10 new zealand trick? I try to play now that it's installed and it says "We know you really want to get started, but you'll have to wait a bit longer. Check the store for the launch date."

I mean the last Bethesda game on the X1 came out almost 3 years ago and was considered ugly back then.

This is an ugly title, from textures to character models to foliage to LoD, it just looks bad.

Considering this is a title backed by MS it's not good enough.

forgot how much i like jesper kyd. he might be my favorite video game composer. only played for about half-hour using the new zealand trick but the score so far seems on point with his previous work... assassin's creed 2, borderlands 2 and og state of decay being my favorites of the games he's composed.

I mean, Ugly? Nah. It's apocalyptically janky, but it looks fine. The visuals are a huge jump up from the first game, and some of their decisions, like the dark nights, add a lot to the experience.

It's a step forward no matter how you frame it.

Of course it's a step up from the first, that game originally came out 5 years ago on the 360.

The lighting is the only aspect I'd say looks good but besides that graphically it's extremely underwhelming

Here are some uncompressed Xbox One X screenshots from the tutorial area for people who are curious about the graphics:

I guess I just don't get what caliber of graphics you're expecting from it.

Personally on PC on max the game is still fuck ugly. It plays well though and has good music. Gameplay loop may not hook everyone but I enjoy it so far.

To say this game looks "good" in this day and age is a slap in the face to all the games that actually look good and beyond .

AC Origins
Witcher 3
Batman Arkham
Horizon Zero Dawn
Hell even Zelda on switch

All these open world games actually look good. This game excels in no visuals. Shadows don't do it for me either .

Which of those games retailed for $30 at launch? lol The game looks fine for its price point.

Played for a couple of hours tonight! I'm enjoying the game (it's reminding me a lot of Frostpunk! That constant stress - people are relying on you etc). I've tried a bit on Xbox One X and mostly played on PC tonight. Eek, the console version feels a little rough after playing at higher frame rates.

I'd agree with jem above I think. The game is pretty ugly... It's certainly better looking than the first (of course) and the night time lighting looks good (headlights and torch) but it's not a looker... Maybe coming straight from Sea of Thieves and God of War and maybe that's unfair.

Still, enjoying the game. Seems a lot more... fun(?) than the first game to me.

They follow you, essentially letting you double your pack!

Nice! I've always been nervous about bringing people out with me but this changes things.

Yup, the music is excellent. I really like how it will dynamically change based on the action on screen. Listening to the low thumping tune that plays when you're sneaking around in the middle of the night is a tense experience.

Price = quality ? Ok.

Fortnite is free and shits on this . PUBG is $30 and looks much better.

I can keep listing if that's what you want is a laundry list of $30 or less games in big worlds that look better than this.

If that's what you'd like to do, go for it. It's also a matter of importance of the visuals for the target audience.

I kind of wish the resource storage cap either wasn't a thing, or could be upgraded way more.

I'm at the point now where I'm pretty much capped on everything even with high level buildings draining resources I can scavenge way more than it decays (8+ rucksacks per scavenge trip..).

I would happily keep going exploring and scavenging the entire map building up an obscene stockpile but given that I actively lose resources if I continue because of the cap it kind of takes away all incentive to continue scavenging. So I mean what's left? Just hunt down all of the plague hearts and game over?

i store additional sacks in the trunks of my parked cars to avoid getting punished by storage caps. when there is space it is just a short walk and two buttons.

???

The point I'm making is this game doesn't look good on PC even at max settings. It looks fine . There's uglier stuff out there but those are generally the 6/10 and below rated games .

This game reviewed well enough and would probably have rated higher if it had better visuals as that is one of its biggest flaws. This could've been achieved via a different art style perhaps or simply more time in the lab . At the very least character models needed more love in face and hair departments .

Woohoo, completed my first community. The game is really fun if you enjoy scavenging and building, but this game would've benefited from having a full studio/budget. Had several annoying things happen due to bugs and physics but I could look past them.

Also, don't help groups with materials because they're imbeciles and should just be shot.

Anyone know how to upgrade mechanics? It just says 'use the workshop', does it just give XP to every mechanic when you make shit?

Btw go find the super rare traders, they're really worth finding. They got some cool shit. Got an community mod that gives me +2 outposts.

Anyone know what the max HDR brightness is for?

I honestly have no idea how the HDR settings work in this game. The reference scene does a poor job at communicating the difference in settings.

Price = quality ? Ok.

Every game you listed before had a developer count from 200 to 1000 people. I'd be surprised if SoD2 had close to 100 people. Even with the smaller team and budget, they still had to create dozens of characters, each with unique traits, unlike many games that has a dozen main characters max and a bunch of random NPCs with interchangeable parts. The game also has a simulated world that is more in depth than we typically see in an open world game. A 900p open world UE4 is what we should expect from the OG Xbox. The majority of open world game run at that resolution on the system and really the main thing holding back the graphics is the character art, which again is likely due to lower resources available (developers and money).

PUBG and Fortnite aren't really comparable since Epic has put more resources into Fortnite and the art differences makes it hard to compare. It's also worth remembering that UE4 is Epic's own engine. PUBG doesn't have characters that look much better while dramatically limiting the number of character variations possible. An argument can be made that aspects like foliage draw distance is better in PUBG but that game isn't expected to have dozens of characters in a single scene.

For a budget title, it's well within expectations, outside of the bugs.

Not for nothing but you also named 5 high budget games with relatively large studios making them with the possible exception being the Witchers' team (Maybe?)

This may have been an MS backed project but I'm sure it doesn't have a Halo or Gears budget or sized team.

The game starts rough, but after getting through the tutorial stuff, it quickly draws you in.

It's soooo good.
